  • A fully balanced differential amplifier can achieve high-gain wide-bandwidth characteristics. And also, Offset PSRR, CMRR and Noise performance of that are excellent, but these merits can be achieved only when the architecture holds fully balanced. Commonly, the fully balanced differential amplifier has a common mode feedback(CMFB) circuit in order to maintain the balance. This paper presents improved characteristics of the CMFB circuit and designs the wide-bandwidth CMOS Op-amp. The unity gain bandwidth of this Op-amp is 50MHz with the load capacitor 2pF, and the value of phase margin is $85^{\circ}$.

  • In this paper, a Gm-C filter for low voltage and low power applications using a fully-differential transconductor is presented. The designed transconductor using the series composite transistors and the low voltage composite transistors has wide input range at low supply voltage. A negative resistor load (NRL) technology for high DC gain of the transconductor is employed with a common mode feedback (CMFB). As a design example, the third-order Elliptic lowpass filter is designed. The designed filter is simulated and examined by HSPICE using 0.25${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS n-well parameters. The simulation results show 105MHz cutoff frequency and 2.4㎽ power dissipation with a 2.5V supply voltage.

  • Since the most of malfunctions in the industrial equipment controlled by processors is consist of the electrical fast transient (EFT)$^{[1],[2]}$TEX>, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) prepared the dummy signal to test the immunity level of the equipments. To work out a countermeasure for the malfunction, We designed a new electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) filter for high power supply, which is consisted of a feed-through capacitor and ferrite materials with high permeability. The ferrite material is surrounded with a power cable or is inserted on the cable’s second layer in order to increase common-mode inductance. We have obtained a excellent insertion loss characteristics over the frequency band from 150 kHz to 30 MHz. The developed new EMC filter satisfy IEC 61000-4-4 and is suitable for industrial, militaly, and medical equipments with reduced malfuntions.

  • In this paper, filtering techniques to reduce the adverse effects of motor leads on high-frequency PWM inverter fed AC motor drives will be examined. The filter was designed to keep the motor terminal from the cable surge impedance to reduce overvoltage reflections, ringing, and the dv/dt, di/dt. Therefore, filtering techniques are investigated to reduce the motor terminal overvoltage, ringing, and EMI noise in inverter fed ac motor drive systems. The output filter is used to limit the rate of the inverter output voltage and reduce EMI(common mode noise) to the motor. The performance of the output filter is evaluated through simulations (PSIM) and experiment on PWM inverter-fed ac motor drive(3phase, 3hp(2.2kw), input voltage 220/380V, induction motor). An experimental PWM drive system reduction of conducted EMI was implemented on an available TMS320C31 microprocessor control board. Finally, experimental results showed that the inverter output filter reduces more CM noise than the LPF(low pass filter) and reduce overvoltage and ringing at the motor terminal.

  • For the purpose of treating health checkups and recovery of patients in a super-aged society, hospitals use devices designed with a reduction circuit of electromagnetic waves associated with the specific absorption rate of electromagnetic waves absorbed by the human body. In this paper, we proposed a filter improvement design method capable of reducing electromagnetic waves. As a result of confirming the validity of the proposed technique through simulation and experimental results, the following result values were obtained. Applying the common-mode (CM) inductor 4 mH to a calibration circuit, noise decreased in a multiband spectrum. Using the differential mode(DM) inductor 40 µH element in the primary calibration circuit, the noise decreased by 15 dB or more in the 3 MHz band spectrum. Also, applying the Admittance Capacitance (Y-Cap) 10 nF element in the secondary calibration circuit resulted in the decrease by more than 30 dB in the band spectrum before 2 MHz. After using a common-mode inductor 4 mH element in the tertiary calibration circuit, it decreased by more than 15 dB in the band spectrum after 2 MHz.

  • Detection of gas leak from a tube is a very important issue in the quality control of machines such as the heat exchanger of an air-conditioner, because leakage of operating gas directly reduces the performance of machines. The acoustic emission (AE) method is a common way to detect leak of gas, however its application under the environment of mechanical vibration is restricted since most AE detectors are very sensitive to external vibration noise. In order to overcome this problem, we propose a method based on the mode analysis of the Lamb wave. In this method, the dominant Lamb mode and its frequency are found first, and then a proper band-pass filter is used to retain only this frequency component. In this way, we could improve the SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) of AE signal generated by gas leak from the tube even under vibratory environment.

  • It is necessary to eliminate the broad band noise whose frequency is in the range of several kHz to tens MHz generated from the AC power line to supply the power to electrical and electronic equipments. Because this kind of noise could damage or malfunction such equipments. To suppress those noises, some conventional devices such as a filter or surge suppressor have been used. However, they can not be isolated from the common-mode noise widely spreaded in all power line, which results in poor common-mode rejection performance. In this paper, we proposed a design method of shielded isolation transformer and a jumped circuit analysis model for shielded isolation transformer applicable to filtering common-mode noise as well as normal-mode noise. The analysis model has been verified as a suitable one for shielded isolation transformer through comparison of the simulation with experiment. In addition, it has been shown that the reduction performance for conducted noise of prototype 3 kVA shielded isolation transformer is superior to a unshielded isolation transformer.

  • A novel strategy based on a zero common mode voltage pulse-width modulation (ZCMV-PWM) technique and zero-sequence circulating current (ZSCC) feedback control is proposed in this study to eliminate ZSCCs between three-level neutral point clamped (NPC) voltage source inverters, with common AC and DC buses, that are operating in parallel. First, an equivalent model of ZSCC in a three-phase three-level NPC inverter paralleled system is developed. Second, on the basis of the analysis of the excitation source of ZSCCs, i.e., the difference in common mode voltages (CMVs) between paralleled inverters, the ZCMV-PWM method is presented to reduce CMVs, and a simple electric circuit is adopted to control ZSCCs and neutral point potential. Finally, simulation and experiment are conducted to illustrate effectiveness of the proposed strategy. Results show that ZSCCs between paralleled inverters can be eliminated effectively under steady and dynamic states. Moreover, the proposed strategy exhibits the advantage of not requiring carrier synchronization. It can be utilized in inverters with different types of filter.

  • This paper presented a novel approach for the design of a tunable dual-band bandpass filter (BPF) with independently tunable passband center frequencies and bandwidths. The newly proposed dual-band filter principally comprised two dual-mode single band filters using common input/output lines. Each single BPF was realized using a varactor-loaded transmission line resonator. To suppress the harmonics over a broad bandwidth, a defected ground structure was used at the input/output feeding lines. From the experimental results, it was found that the proposed filter exhibited the first passband center frequency tunable range from 1.48 to 1.8 GHz with a 3-dB fractional bandwidth (FBW) variation from 5.76% to 8.55%, while the second passband center's frequency tunable range was 2.40 to 2.88 GHz with a 3-dB FBW variation from 8.28% to 12.42%. The measured results of the proposed filters showed a rejection level of 19 dB up to more than 10 times the highest center frequency of the first passband.
