  • The testing materials which kept perilla frutescens' leaves frezen are divided into four parts, 1. freezing green leaves, 2. glucose added to the leaves dried in the sun, 3. glucose unadded to the leaves dried in the sun and 4. the leaves dried in the immediately after collecting sample. The perilla frutescens' leaves are treated with the artificial digestion test to investigate the effects of the digestibility of ingredients and of protein. The results obtained were as follows ; 1. The digestibility of crude protein of sample using the common leaves dried in the sun immediately after collecting sample was presented highest at 83.15%, the freezing green leaves at 68.35%, glucose added to the leaves dried in the sun at 64.25% and glucose unadded to the leaves dried in the sun at 62.12%. The digestibility of perilla frutescens' by freezing green leaves, glucose added or glucose unadded to the leaves dried in the sun is on the decrease without difference. 2. It was suggested that glucose and reductive sugars to perilla frutescens' leaves is not affected by the decreased digestibility of protein, dince the digestibility of glucose added to the leaves dried in the sun and glucose unadded to the leaves dried in the sun almost never makes a difference. 3. The digestibility of freezing the green leaves for six months was quite different from the leaves that were dried in the sun immediately after collecting sample, in that the leaves that were frozen for six months were decreased 1/5 quantity of the shole crude protein.

  • Insulation of refrigerator with gasket material near door becomes the technical point at the aspect of heat loss and energy efficiency. Heat loss of refrigerator through the gasket is nearly 30%. In this paper, quantitative evaluation method of heat loss through gasket in established suggest the method for the improvement of heat loss. To analyze the heat transfer, we have used the common software Fluent that is used to CFD. Because of using the convection coefficient of heat transfer, we have solved only the equation of energy for heat transfer. As a result, we have known that heat loss flows through the heat flux vector and that the heat gathered out of the outside iron plate is transferred inner part through the gasket and ABS, etc. Through the result of the numerical simulation that use sub-gasket, we have known that we are able to reduce the heat loss about $20{\sim}40%$. when we applied that sub-gasket on a real refrigerator, the power consumption had reduced about 4.76%. In addition, when we applied a more improved sub-gasket on a real refrigerator and measured the power of the refrigerator the power consumption does reduce about 3% and we will try to apply the improved sub-gasket on a new models of refrigerator.

  • Teams are used often in the workplace and in educational institute. Despite the advantages of students teams, the two most common problems are social loafing and free riding. I suggest that 'You are fired' method can be used successfully in students team project, especially in our cultural mood. The 'You are fired' method is very simple to execute into business classes using team assignments. Students can fire team members who will not do the necessary work or will not attend meetings with a simple two-step processes. To fire a student of the team must send an e-mail listing specific work that he or she is not doing and/ or meetings he or she is not attending. And a copy of the e-mail must be sent to the faculty member. If the free-rider fails to accomplish the required work, then a second e-mail is sent notifying the student that he or she is fired along with a copy to the faculty member. Data from 257 undergraduate students are analyzed for usefulness of 'You are fired' method. Students are highly supportive of all components parts of the 'You are fired' method. They strongly support the effectiveness of this method to prevent free riding on performing team projects.

  • Project owner, asbestos removal specialist, experts on asbestos removal work, as counter parts to be defined in the study to make out research goals have been asked with questionnaire survey and replied with 65, 275, 32 cases, respectively. And additionally, direct interview 73 sheets have been collected to find out current status of required engineers and equipments assigned and provided to the field, from them, three(3) concerned parties. Questionnaire subjects are composed of common items, reasonable unit cost, need of separate contract-awarding system, status of performing standard contract, status of providing legal engineers and equipments. Concentrated review of two~three questions by subject has been made to find out and compare idea results between three(3) concerned parties. First, legal and practical work status survey have been made to determine reasonability of introducing separate contract-awarding system, as a part of ensuring reasonable unit work cost. And then, two different status have been compared and there is introduction possibility of separate contract-awarding system, it is found out. The possibility of separate contract also has been confirmed by comparison of domestic legal grounds. Justificating grounds to introduce separate contract-awarding system have been shown. Standard contract status between asbestos removal specialists has been compared using two cases of providing removal work contract and receiving it. It is shown that case of 50 percent or less contains 38.5% when they receive contract, but only 10 percent reduction of original contract amount has been made when they provide it. It means that asbestos removal specialists do not keep occupational safety and health regulations.

  • In languages such as Japanese, it is very common to observe that short peripheral vowel are completely voiceless when surrounded by voiceless consonants. This phenomenon has been known as Montreal French, Shanghai Chinese, Greek, and Korean. Traditionally this phenomenon has been described as a phonological rule that either categorically deletes the vowel or changes the [+voice] feature of the vowel to [-voice]. This analysis was supported by Sawashima (1971) and Hirose (1971)'s observation that there are two distinct EMG patterns for voiced and devoiced vowel in Japanese. Close examination of the phonetic evidence based on acoustic data, however, shows that these phonological characterizations are not tenable (Jun & Beckman 1993, 1994). In this paper, we examined the vowel devoicing phenomenon in Korean using data from ENG fiberscopic and acoustic recorders of 100 sentences produced by one Korean speaker. The results show that there is variability in the 'degree of devoicing' in both acoustic and EMG signals, and in the patterns of glottal closing and opening across different devoiced tokens. There seems to be no categorical difference between devoiced and voiced tokens, for either EMG activity events or glottal patterns. All of these observations support the notion that vowel devoicing in Korean can not be described as the result of the application of a phonological rule. Rather, devoicing seems to be a highly variable 'phonetic' process, a more or less subtle variation in the specification of such phonetic metrics as degree and timing of glottal opening, or of associated subglottal pressure or intra-oral airflow associated with concurrent tone and stricture specifications. Some of token-pair comparisons are amenable to an explanation in terms of gestural overlap and undershoot. However, the effect of gestural timing on vocal fold state seems to be a highly nonlinear function of the interaction among specifications for the relative timing of glottal adduction and abduction gestures, of the amplitudes of the overlapped gestures, of aerodynamic conditions created by concurrent oral tonal gestures, and so on. In summary, to understand devoicing, it will be necessary to examine its effect on phonetic representation of events in many parts of the vocal tracts, and at many stages of the speech chain between the motor intent and the acoustic signal that reaches the hearer's ear.

  • This paper present a fuzzy mxlel of describing reacton features for ozon contactor in advanced water treatn-ent systems. Input and output variables are chosen by considenng the object of ozon processing and several parameters related to management of water quahty. Dissolved organic carbon concentration, $UV_{254}$ absorptIon and $KM_NO_4$ consumption are proposed as common variables in input and outp.lt variables. Furthermore own concentration, raw water's temperature and contact time are suggested as input variables, Membership hmctions for input variables have triangular type share and the grades in each lrembership function are determined by investigating process data gathered at pilot planl The decision parts of fuzzy model have linear combination form of input variables and coefficients included in such linear equations are computedd with process clata in the sense of least square error Also fuzzy trodel suggested in this paper is partitioned by 3 independent fuzzy rnxlels using the characteristics of having no interactions armng output variables. As a result, such fuzzy mxlel has rrerits in computation and comprehension. According to simulatIon results, fuzzy moIel's outputs give almost similar data to process output under same input conditions.

  • As the industrial desire for a step change in productivity within the manufacture of composite structures increases, so does the interest in Through-Thickness Reinforcement technologies. As manufacturers look to increase the production rate, whilst reducing cost, Through-Thickness Reinforcement technologies represent valid methods to reinforce structural joints, as well as providing a potential alternative to mechanical fastening and bolting. The use of tufting promises to resolve the typically low delamination resistance, which is necessary when it comes to creating intersections within complex composite structures. Emerging methods include the use of 3D woven connectors, and orthogonally intersecting fibre packs, with the components secured by the selective insertion of microfasteners in the form of tufts. Intersections of this type are prevalent in aeronautical applications, as a typical connection to be found in aircraft wing structures, and their intersections with the composite skin and other structural elements. The common practice is to create back-to-back composite "L's", or to utilise a machined metallic connector, mechanically fastened to the remainder of the structure. 3D woven connectors and selective Through-Thickness Reinforcement promise to increase the ultimate load that the structure can bear, whilst reducing manufacturing complexity, increasing the load carrying capability and facilitating the automated production of parts of the composite structure. This paper provides an overview of the currently available methods for creating intersections within composite structures and compares them to alternatives involving the use of 3D woven connectors, and the application of selective Through-Thickness Reinforcement for enhanced damage tolerance. The use of tufts is investigated, and their effect on the load carrying ability of the structure is examined. The results of mechanical tests are presented for each of the methods described, and their failure characteristics examined.

  • Background: The esthetic and functional outcomes of periorbital defect reconstruction are very important because of the complex anatomy and specialized functions of this region. The orbicularis oculi myocutaneous (OOMC) flap is useful for the reconstruction of periorbital defects. But, according to the location and depth of the defects, the reconstruction using OMC flaps with various techniques is rare. The authors have used various kinds of OOMC flaps in various situations and we present an analysis of our experiences. Methods: From November 2001 to July 2017, we used 36 OOMC flaps to reconstruct 30 periorbital defects in 25 patients. We analyzed the cause of the defect, its location, the type of concomitant surgery, the method of flap movement, and complications. Results: Of the 30 defects, basal cell carcinoma was the most common cause, accounting for 20 cases. When the used OOMC flap was classified according to the location of the defects, the switch flap was used in nine cases among 15 defects of lower eyelid, and the V-Y advancement flap was mainly used for other parts. As surgical methods according to the depth of defect were classified, all cases involving the tarsal plate were reconstructed with a composite graft. In case of skin and muscles, they were reconstructed only with OOMC flap or with full-thickness skin graft. Conclusion: The OOMC flap provides good skin quality that is very similar to that of the defect tissue. Depending on the location and depth of the defect, the OOMC flap may be used properly in a variety of ways to achieve good results.

  • This paper studied the cause of the deterioration of the four 3-Arch tunnels built in mid-1990. The common deteriorations of the four 3-Arch tunnels were longitudinal cracks, leakage and efflorescence at the same parts of lining concrete. Three fourths of 3-Arch tunnels, there was high percentage longitudinal cracks and a quarter was low frequency about longitudinal cracks. So the material reviewed to find out the differences between two groups in construction process and analysis was conducted such as non-destructive testing, precise visual survey and safety evaluation of one tunnel which had bad ground condition As the result, the tunnels were safety condition and the primary deterioration occurred during the construction process, namely, problems arrangement of rebar and the effects of the blast at middle tunnel.

  • Background: Cervical cancer is the second most common malignancy among women worldwide, and women of reproductive age in Thailand. However, information on the behavior regarding cervical cancer in rural community Thailand is sparse. Objective: To assess the knowledge, attitude, and practice regarding cervical cancer (CC) among rural community women in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, using predesigned structured questionnaires. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted in 8 villages of Non Sung district, Nakhon Ratchasima province, Thailand, during January to April 2015. Bloom's taxonomy was used as a framework for the study. 265 women aged between 30-60 years old were selected by simple random sampling. All participants completed predesigned questionnaires with 4 parts: demographic data, knowledge, attitude, and practice regarding cervical cancer. Descriptive statistics were used for analysis in this study. Results: The majority of participants were in the age group of 41-50 years old (42.6%) with senior secondary school level of education (32.1%), marriage status (85.0%), agricultural employment (59.6%), and family income between 6,000-10,000 baht per month (54.3%). Some 63.4% and 68.7% participants had high knowledge and moderate level of attitudes regarding CC, while 41.1%, 48.7%, and 10.2% had neem regularly, irregularly or never screened for CC, respectively. The main reasons for not screening were were shyness (44.4%) and no time (55.6%). Vaginal discharge and itching were the common signs and symptoms of participants who were screened at a health promotion hospital of sub-district. Conclusions: CC is still a health problem in the rural community. Therefore, health education is required, particularly for those who have never undergone screening.
