Tension Modeling and Looper-Tension ILQ Servo Control of Hot Strip Finishing Mills (열간 사상압연기의 장력 연산모델과 루퍼-장력 ILQ 서보 제어)

  • This paper designs a looper-tension controller for mass-flow stabilization in hot strip finishing mills. By Newton's 2nd law and Hooke's law, nonlinear dynamic equations on the looper-tension system are firstly derived, and linearized by a linearization algorithm using a Taylor's series expansion. Moreover, a tension calculation model is obtained from the nonlinear dynamic equations which is called as a soft sensor of strip tension between two neighboring stands. Next, a looper-tension servo controller is designed by an ILQ(Inverse Linear Quadratic optimal control) algorithm, and it is combined with a minimal disturbance observer which to attenuate speed disturbances by AGC and operator interventions, etc.. Finally, it is shown from by a computer simulation that the proposed ILQ controller with a disturbance observer is very effective in stabilizing the strip mass-flow under some disturbances, moreover it has a good command following performance.

  • Ascent trajectory optimization and optimal explicit guidance problems for a satellite launch vehicle in a 2-dimensional pitch plane are studied. The trajectory optimization problem with boundary conditions is formulated as a nonlinear programming problem by parameterizing the pitch attitude control variable, and is solved by using the SQP algorithm. The flight constraints such as gravity-turn are imposed. An optimal explicit guidance algorithm in the exoatmospheric phase is also presented, the guidance algorithm provides steering command and time-to-go value directly using the current states of the vehicle and the desired orbit insertion conditions. To verify the optimality and accuracy of the algorithm simulations are performed.

  • TFM(Transeverse Flux Motor) is a switched reluctance motor with a new structure of novel design concept based on the high efficiency and power density compare to induction motor used on wide industrial field. To apply TFM to various industrial field instead of induction motor, an efficient converter drive system for speed and current control in TFM is required. This paper realized PWM asymmetric converter drive control system for TFM using IGBT and DSP. To certificate the high power and efficiency drive characteristics of realized PWM converter drive control system. simulation was excecuted on speed command and load variation using Matlab/Simulink.

  • An autothrottle module for small jet aircraft Fly-By-Wire system was developed. The autothrottle was designed to be composed of DC geared motor and electro-magnetic clutch that enables smooth manual/auto switching. A controller was designed for simple position control using ON/OFF control method with a commercial motor driver. The autothrottle developed was installed in the cockpit mockup and interfaced to the flight control computer for the HILS test. The performance test proved that the throttle lever follows well the command signal from the flight control computer.

  • In the case that the robot manipulator should respond to the variance and uncertainty of the environment in performing preforming precision tasks, it is indispensable that the robot utilizes the various sensors for intrlligence. In this paper, the robot force control method is implemented with a force/torque sensor, two personal computers, and a PUMA 560 manipulator for performing the various application tadks. The hybrid position/force control method is used to control the force and position axis separately. An interface board is designed to read the force/torque sensor output into the computer. Since the two computers should exchange the information quickly, a common memory board is designed. Before the algorithms of application tasks are developed, the basic force commands must be supplied. Thus, the MOVE-UNTIL command is used at the discrete time instant and, the MOVE-COMPLY is used at the continuous time instant for receiving the force feedback information. Using the two basic force commands, three application algorithms are developed and implemented for edge-following, insertion, and grinding tasks.

  • This paper describes current controlled PWM technique of PM synchronous motors for a wide variety of speed control applications. They are however limited in their ability to operate in the power limited regime where the available torque is reduced as the speed is increased above its base value. This paper reviews the operation of the PMSM drives when they are constrained to be within the permissible envelope of maximum inverter voltage and current to produce the rated power and to provide this with the highest attainable rotor speed. The optimal field-weakening control algorithm is the use of phase current and d-axis current feedback to reduce of error between the d-axis current command and real current and to improve the torque characteristics. The improved torque characteristics of speed control strategy with optimal field weakening control algorithm is analyzed and the performance is investigated by the computer simulation and experimental results.   • An adaptive backstepping controller is designed for the automatic landing of a fixed-wing aircraft. The backstepping control scheme is adopted by using the nonlinear six degree-of-freedom dynamics of the aircraft during the landing phase. The adaptive law is integrated along with the backstepping controller in order to estimate the aircraft modeling errors as well as the external disturbance. The dynamic constraints of the states and the actuator inputs are taken into account in the parameter adaptation. This is done to prevent an aggressive adaptation and to provide reliable control commands. Numerical simulations were performed to verify the performance of the proposed control law for the landing of the aircraft with the presence of gust and actuator stuck.

  • In this paper, a new speed sensorless control based on an instantaneous reactive power and a fuzzy PI compensator are proposed for the interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) drives. The conventional fixed gain PI and PID controllers are very sensitive to step change of command speed, parameter variations and load disturbance. Also, to the estimated speeds are compensated by using an instantaneous reactive power in synchronously rotating reference frame. In a fuzzy compensator, the system control parameters are adjusted by a fuzzy rule based system, which is a logical model of the human behavior for process control. The effectiveness of algorithm is confirmed by the experiments.

  • We introduce the concept of a remote distributed embedded system to integrated fieldbus based control systems in internet/Intranet. As a result fieldbus systems are opened up for remote monitoring, remote maintenance, and remote control applications using state of the art Web-technology. This paper addresses the design of a remote distributed embedded system using Internet and CAN for multi-Induction motor of Building and Industrial field. The fieldbus used the CAN based networked intelligent multi-motor control system using DSP2812 microprocessor. To build such a system, the TCP/IP-CAN Gateway which convert a CAN protocol to TCP/IP protocol and vice verse, was designed. A experimental simulation system consists of a TCP/IP-CAN Gateway in remote place and a command PC ti be connected ti Ethernet.

  • In this paper, direct power control system for three-phase PFC AC/DC converter without the source voltage sensors is proposed. The sinusoidal input current and unity effective power factor are realised based on the estimated flux in the observer. Both active and reactive power calculated using estimated flux. The estimation of flux is performed based on the reduced-order virtual flux observer using the actual currents and the command control voltage. Moreover, source voltage sensors are replaced by a estimated flux. DC output voltage has been compensated by DC output ripple voltage estimation algorithm. The active and reactive powers estimation are performed based on the estimated flux and Phase angle. The proposed algorithm is verified through simulation and experiment.
