The purpose of this study was to analyze quantitative and qualitative differences according to shoe type for the grand jete landing in ballet. The subjects for this study were 9 female ballet majors with an average of 12 years of experience. Subjects jumped, performing a front split, and landed on 1 foot, a movement called the grand jete. Analysis was performed on the students' landing. Independent variables were 3 shoe types: split sole, traditional out sole, and 5-toed forefoot shoes, with bare feet as a control group. Dependent variables were vertical passive ground reaction force and qualitative elements. Passive ground reaction force variables(maximum passive peak value, number of passive peaks, passive force-time integral, and center of pressure) were measured by the Kistler 9281B Force Platform. Qualitative elements were comfort, cushioning, pain, and fit. Statistical analysis included both 1-way ANOVA and Tukey's test for follow-up. Finalized data demonstrated that the 5-toed forefoot shoe allows the forefoot to expand and the toes to individually press down upon landing, increasing foot contact with the surface. Five-toed forefoot shoes minimize passive peaks and pain, while increasing comfort, cushioning, and fit. Most ballet movements are composed of jumping, balancing, landing, and spinning. Wearing 5-toed forefoot shoes allows for a natural range of movement in each toe, to improve both technique and balance. Pain and injuries from ballet can be minimized by wearing the correct shoe type. According to this analysis, it is possible to customized ballet shoes to increase the efficiency of techniques and movements.

The health of feet is connected with individual's health and affects a man's activity. Shoes need to be designed to protect feet and to absorb the impact of land. In order to choose suitable shoes for feet, the foot size and shape must be considered, so it is essential to grasp the exact size and shape of the foot. This study aims to present fundamental data on shoes' easy order prototype development for choosing shoes of good wearing comfort, by classifying feet size and shape junior high school boys in the early adolescent period. The subject were 217 Korean junior high school girls in age from 14 to 16 years old. The subjects were directly measured anthropometrically and indirectly analyzed photographically. 7 factors were extracted through factor analysis and those factors comprised 78.59% of total variance. The factors were characterized foot length, foot girth and width, foot shape around the fifth toes, foot shape around the first toes, angle of foot breadth, foot height, and foot length of upper foot. 3 clusters as their foot shape were categorized using 7 factor scores by cluster analysis. Type 1 had smaller in foot girth, width and length than other types and with deformed fifth toe. Type 2 had average size and high foot shape. Type 3 was characterized by long large foot with deformed first toe. The results would be a great support in producing and choosing appropriate shoes if forms are classified by subdividing foot form classification and extract a factor which shows only the foot sole shape.

Objective: The aim of this study was to analyze the effects of bobsleigh shoes on the lower extremity range of motion and start speed lap time and to develop bobsleigh shoes suitable for winter environments and Korean players based on sports science and optimized biomechanical performance. Background: The bobsleigh shoes used in the start section of the sport are one of the most important equipment for improving athletes' performances. Despite the importance of the start section, there are no shoes that are specifically designed for Korean bobsleigh athletes. Thus, Korean athletes have to wear sprint spike shoes instead of bobsleigh shoes to practice the start. Method: The subjects included four bobsleigh athletes from the Gangwon Province Bobsleigh Skeleton Federation. The study selected the bobsleigh shoe type A (company A) and type B (company B). We analyzed the lower extremity range of motion and sprint time (start line to 10 m) using a Motion Analysis System (USA). Results: In the measurement of the time required for the bobsleigh start section (10 m), the type A shoes demonstrated the fastest section record by $2.765{\pm}0.086sec$ and yielded more efficient movements, hip and knee flexion, hip extension, ankle dorsiflexion, plantar flexion, and inversion than the type B shoes. Conclusion: Type A shoes can yield a better performance via effective lower extremity movements in the bobsleigh start section. Application: In the future, functional analysis should be conducted by comparing the upper material properties, comfort, and muscle fatigue of bobsleigh shoes based on the Type A shoes to develop such shoes suitable for Koreans.

발의 건강은 개인의 건강과 직결되어 인체 활동의 능률에 직접적인 영향을 미친다. 발의 기능을 효과적으로 보조하고 있는 도구로서의 신발은 발을 보호하면서 지면으로부터의 충격을 흡수하도록 설계되어야 하는 데 디자인과 함께 착용성, 기능성, 그리고 경제성의 세 가지 요건이 요구된다. off-line 상점에서의 신발 구매는 소비자가 직접 신발을 착용해 봄으로써 어느 정도 자신의 발에 맞는 신발을 선택할 수 있다. 그러나 On-Line의 경우에는 여러 가지 문제점이 발행한다. 첫째, 소비자 혼자의 힘으로 구매와 관련된 정보 탐색과정을 진행해 나가야 하기 때문에 소비자의 인지적 부담이나 절대적인 정보 처리능력은 한계를 나타낼 수밖에 없으며, 둘째, 소비자들은 구매과정에서의 디자인, 착용기능성 등과 같은 중요한 정보를 정확하게 전달받지 못하기 때문에 신중한 판단을 내리지 못하는 것이다. 상기 내용을 살펴볼 때 사용자 중심의 인터넷 쇼핑에 대한 해결방안은 사용자들이 쉽게 접근할 수 있는 새로운 형태의 Prototype의 개발이며, Prototype에 따른 Interface를 통해 3D 가상현실로 내용면에서 소비자들이 정확한 판단을 할 수 있도록 정보를 시각화하여 전달하는 것이다. 이에 따른 본 연구의 목적은 기존의 신발류 인터넷 구매 사이트의 문제점을 고찰하여 개선된 신발류 이지오더 Prototype을 개발함으로써 신발류 착용 적합성에 관한 인터넷 구매의 위험성을 줄이고 구매의 편의성을 제공하고자 하는 것이다. 1. 소비자가 자신이 선택한 신발에 대한 2D 평면화를 출력해 봄으로써 자신의 발 사이즈 및 형태와 직접 비교할 수 있도록 하는 것이다. 2. 3D 가상현실로 이지오더 Prototype을 개발함으로써 소비자는 구매하고자 하는 신발의 디자인에 대해서 소비자 중심의 이미지를 최대한 경험할 수 있게 하는 것이다. 그리고 이상의 연구 결과는 각종 산업제품 뿐 아니라 향후 거동이 불편한 장애인들을 위한 신발류의 이지오더 Prototype 개발에도 큰 영향을 미칠 수 있는 중요한 사례가 될 것이다.

This paper concerns on developing a multi-purpose test device for measuring mechanical properties of shoes. The device was modified from a commercial robot manipulator, with which impact, bending, and pronation tests were suggested to evaluate performances of shoes. From several experiments, the developed device could produce repetitive and consistent results corresponding to the different material of shoes. In the shoe industry, it is expected that the device could contribute to developing a better shoe for comfort of costumers.

Sportswear, including sports shoes, becomes a common and popular category because it gives young people a more relax lifestyle and greater versatility and comfort. It is believed that consumers prefer products of developed countries to products of developing or underdeveloped countries. This study tries to compare consumer behaviors for sports shoes in China and Korea. Our research model analyzed relationships among country-of-origin, perceived quality, perceived price, brand image and purchase intention for sports shoes in Korea and China. The country-of-origin was not found to play a significant role in Korea. But it was found to positively influence perceived quality in China. Brand image was found to play an important role in influencing perceived quality and perceived price in Korea and China. Perceived quality was found to influence positively purchase intention in both countries. Perceived price was found to negatively influence purchase intention in China. Implications drawn from this study were discussed.

This study aims at analyzing the formativeness of women fashion shoes shown in the high fashion since 2000 along with the necessity of study for such purposes. Fashion shoes designed for the perfection of high fashion have been positioned as an important item to increase the value of fashion. Subsequently, three formative images through the research method under the literature study could be analyzed as follows. First, the Fetishism image appeared from 18th century and the shoe heel has the erotic internal beauty while attracting the erotic nature from the perspective of 'feet confinement'. The high heel came to have an absolute relationship with the feminine beauty, and the feet and shoes are accepted for the erotic symbol regardless of anyone in the East or West. Second, the fashion shoes in the Maximalism image to pursue for the dream and excitement at the same time have been shown at the same time by using various ornaments in an exaggerated manner for the use of ornaments to clothes through designs by shoe designers. Third, the Aristocratism image in the fashion shoes was remarkably highlighted with the use of materials from processing natural materials with the best quality, which was expressed in an exotic manner with roughness and comfort despite the nature of refinement balanced with the simple reactionary tendency and technical senses of handicrafts. It can be perceived that the inner emotions of human beings are expressed by intentionally dismantling the functions of shoes in terms of functionality even in the fashion shoes in completing the ideal images after which are pursued by people.

The weight of shoes may serve as a determining factor of perceived comfort and feel to the consumer in their purchase and repurchase decisions of footwear. People, however, seem to have trouble in accurately judging the feeling of weight of shoes on their feet. This paper made a psychophysical study of subjects′ sensitivity to weight on their feet and in their hands. The experiment consisted of 3 tests according to the motions people make when they evaluate the feel of shoes: 1) vertical lifting of a shoe on the foot ("hefting" in on the foot) 2) swing the shod foot back and forth; 3) holding and lifting a shoe by hand ("hefting" it in the hand). The method of constant stimuli and magnitude estimation were used for the experiment with 20 subjects. Weber′s ratios and the power law exponents obtained for each of the three tests were 0.156 and 0.713, 0.108 and 0.970, and 0.065 and 1.249, respectively in the same order of the previously listed tests.

During running, the human body experiences repeated impact force between the foot and the ground. The impact force is highly associated with injury of the lower extremity, comfort and running performance. Therefore, shoemakers have developed shoes with various midsole properties to prevent the injury of lower extremity, improve the comfort and enhance the running performance. The purpose of this study is to investigate influence of midsole hardness on shock absorption along the human body during running. Thirty two expert runners consented to participate in the study and ran at a constant speed with three different pairs of shoes with soft, medium and hard midsole respectively. Using accelerometers we measured the shock absorption from shoe heel to cervical vertebral column. In conclusion, at the shoe heel, shock was the greatest with the hard midsole. However because most shock was absorbed between shoe heel and the knee, notable influence of midsole was not detected upper knee. At shoe heel, regardless of midsole hardness, the shock of younger female was the greatest. The authors expect to apply this result for providing a guideline for utilizing proper midsole hardness for manufacturing age and gender-specific shoe.

본 연구는 개발된 태권도화에 따른 태권도 돌려차기와 몸돌려 후려차기시 기계적 마찰력과 태권도 수행력에 대하여 연구하는데 목적이 있다. 본 연구를 위하여 A.F.T.S.(Automated Footwear Testing System)과 태권도 수행력 테스트를 실시하였으며 착화감에 대한 설문을 조사하였다. 본 실험의 결과 태권도화 종류에 따라 기계적 마찰력은 유의한 차이를 보였으며, 돌려차기시 최대 자유모멘트의 통계 결과값은 p=.011 이었고, 최대 족저압에 있어서 타입 A 태권도화와 타입 B 태권도화도 사이에 있어 유의한 차이를 보였다. 착화감 설문 결과 5가지 항목에 있어 타입 A와 타입 B 태권도 사이에 있어 유의한 차이를 보였지만 타입 B와 타입 C 태권도화에 있어서는 모든 항목에서 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 태권도화별 기계적 마찰력에서 유의한 차이를 보인 반면 수행력에 있어서는 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 판단되며, 설문 결과와 수행력 사이에 있어서도 관계가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통하여 임상 실험 결과와 기계적 마찰력 정도가 태권도 수행에 영향을 주는지 여부와 훈련 시 부상 방지 및 수행력을 향상시키는 태권도화의 생체역학적 설계 및 현 개발 시제품에 대한 후속제품개발에 도움을 주고자 한다.
