Classification of Bodytype on Adult Male for the Apparel Sizing System (Part 3) -Bodytype of Trunk from the Photoqraphic Data- (남성복의 치수규격을 위한 체형분류(제3보) -사진자료에 의한 동체부의 분류-)

  • Concept of the comfort and fitness has become a major concern in the basic function of the ready.made clothes. Until now ready-made clothes were not made by on the basis of the bodytype, but by the body size only This research was performed to classify and characterize the bodytypes of Korean adult males. Sample size was 1290 subjects and their age range was from 19 to 54 years old. 25 variables from the photographic data were applied to analyze the bodytype of trunk. Data were analyzed by the multivariate method, especially factor and cluster analysis. The groups forming a cluster can be subdivided into 5 sets by crosstabulation extracted by the hierarchical cluster analysis. 5 bodytypes classified by the photographic sources could be combined with the anthropometric data and were demonstrated with 5 silhouette. Type 3 and 4 in trunk were dominant and were composed of the majority of 55.6% of the subjects. Bodytypes of Korean males were influenced by the degree of posture erectness and of curvature of the front side of the body in waist and abdomen.

An Evaluation of Automobile Assembly Jobs for Low Back Injury (자동차 조립 작업에서의 직업성 요추부염좌의 위험도에 대한평가)

  • The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevailing ergonomic conditions regarding low back injury in an assembly factory, In this study, analytic biomechanical model and NIOSH guidelines were applied to evaluate risk levels of low back injury for automobile assembly jobs. Total of 246 workers were analysed. There were 10 jobs with greater back compressive forces than 350kg at L5/S1. Also there were 44 jobs over Action Limit in terms of 1981 NIOSH guidelines. This could in part be explained by the ergonomic conditions of the companys analysed as not hazardous, with a relatively low duration of 'combined' extreme work posture. However, more ergonomic intervention could be done based on those results.

  • This study, as a part of integrated human-robot ergonomics, improves the robot motion control on the robot task in the TOES/WCS whose purpose is improving the teaching task constructed in the previous study. First, the updated combined fuzzy process using a new membership function with Weber's law is constructed for the purpose of coordinate reading of the end points in the macro motion control. Second, an algorithm using the geometric analysis is desinged in order to calculate position values and posture values of the robot joints. Third, the MGSLM method is designed to remove unnecessary the robot motion control caused by the GSLM method in the micro motion control. Consequently, proposed methods in this study lessen burdcn of a human of an improvement of the robot motion control and reduce the teaching time of a human operator and inaccuracy of the teaching task, which contribute to the integrated human-robot ergonomics.

  • One of the most important feature of the Mobile Manipulator is redundant freedom. Using the redundant freedom, Mobile Manipulator can move various mode, perform dexterous motion. In this paper, to improve robot job ability, as two robots perform a job in co-operation control, we studied optimal position and posture of Mobile Manipulator with minimum movement of each robot joint. Kinematics of mobile robot and task robot is solved. Using mobility of Mobile robot, weight vector of robots is determined. Using Gradient methode, global motion trajectory is minimized. so the job which Mobile Manipulator perform is optimized. The proposed algorithm is verified with PURL-II which is Mobile Manipulator combined Mobile robot and task robot. and discussed the result.

  • A real time monitoring system from a PC has been developed which can be accessed through transmitted data, which incorporates an established low powered transport system equipped with a single chip combined with wireless sensor network technology from a three-axis acceleration sensor. In order to distinguish between static posture and dynamic posture, the extracted parameter from the rapidly transmitted data needs differentiation of movement and activity structures and status for an accurate measurement. When results interpret a static formation, statistics referring to each respective formation, known as the K-mean algorithm is utilized to carry out a determination of detailed positioning, and when results alter towards dynamic activity, fuzzy algorithm (fuzzy categorizer), which is the relationship between speed and ISVM, is used to categorize activity levels into 4 stages. Also, the ISVM is calculated with the instrumented acceleration speed on the running machine according to various speeds and its relationship with kinetic energy goes through correlation analysis. With the evaluation of the proposed system, the accuracy level stands at 100% at a static formation and also a 96.79% accuracy with kinetic energy and we can easily determine the energy consumption through the relationship between ISVM and kinetic energy.

  • In the literature study on the cerebral palsy, the results were as follows : 1. Cerebral palsy is defined as a disorder of movement and posture due to a defect or lesion of the immature brain. For practical purposes it is useful to exclude from cerebral palsy those disorders of posture and movement which are of short duration, due to a progressive disease due solely to mental deficiency. 2. Cerebral Palsy is classified with quadriplegia, diplegia, hemi plegia, triplegia, and monoplegia or spastic CP, athetoid CP, ataxic CP, and combined classifications 3. Causes of Cerebral Palsy is any damage to the developing brain, whether caused by genetic or developmental disorders. And it is classified with prenatal.natal and postnatal causes. 4. Management consists of helping the child achieve maximum potential in growth and development. This should be started as early as possible with identification of the very young child who may have a developmental disorder. Certain medications, surgery, and braces may be used to improve nerve and muscle coordination and prevent dysfunction. 5. The aim of treatment is to encourage children and adults to learn to be as independent as possible. Some children and adults who have mild cerebral palsy will have no problems in achieving independence 6. Oji(五遲), Oyeon(五軟) and Okyeong(五硬) have the simmiar concepts with the cerebral palsy. 7. Oji(五遲) Oyeon(五軟) and Okyeong(五硬) are caused by seoncheon-pumbu-bujok(先天稟賦不足) and related with gan(肝), bi(脾) and sin(腎). 8. The treatment is achieved by the method of bogansin(補肝腎), ganggeungol(强筋骨) and boiungikki(補中益氣). And jihwanghwan(地黃丸) has been used most frequently.

Development Software to Select Boundary Manikins for Product Evaluation: Applied to an Automobile Case (사용성 평가 전용 인체모델 선정 소프트웨어 개발 및 자동차 적용사례)

  • Usability evaluation of physical products involves characterizing complex physical interactions between humans and products. Human models known as manikins have been widely utilized as usability evaluation tools for automobile interior package design. When combined with computer-aided design software programs, such manikins can be used to simulate driving postures and evaluate driver-interior fits early in the design process, and therefore, may greatly facilitate achieving high-quality design in a cost-efficient manner. The purpose of this study was to define a set of manikins for designing automobile interior packages for the South Korean male population. These manikins were conceptualized as "boundary" manikins, which represent individuals lacking in certain physical capacities or having usability-related issues (e.g., an individual with the 5th percentile forward reach capability, an individual with the 95th percentile shoulder width). Such boundary manikins can serve as an efficient tool for determining if an automobile interior design accommodates the majority of the population. The boundary manikins were selected from the large sample of Korean males whose anthropometric dimensions were described in the recent Size Korea anthropometric database. For each male in the database, his comfortable driving posture was represented using a kinematic body linkage model and various physical capacity measured and usability-related characteristics relevant to driver accommodation were evaluated. For each such measure, a boundary manikin was selected among the Korean males. The manikins defined in this study are expected to serve as tools for ergonomic design of automobile interior packages. The manikin selection method developed in this study was implemented as a generic software program useful for various product design applications.

The Effect of Strengthening on Scapular Stabilizer Muscles for the Rounded Shoulders (어깨뼈 안정화 근육 강화가 둥근 어깨에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was compared for rounded scapular between strechting on pectoralis minoor and strengthening on scapular stabilizer muscles. Methods : The main laboratory had an experiment of the exercise for rounded shoulder posture with 30 patients on a pectoralis minor stretching and scapula to stabilize the elastic band to divide into two groups in this study which were conducted. Results : Acromial height measured from changes of the rounded shoulder posture changes before and after workouts; stretching before exercise in the exercise group is from $94.19{\pm}3.47$ to after result of $94.84{\pm}3.19$, and the after exercise of an elastic band pre-exercise in the exercise group is from $93.60{\pm}3.42$ to $88.68{\pm}3.49$, dividing into two groups, which increased significantly. Compared to an acromial height variation results before and after workouts; stretching exercise group made $3.07{\pm}1.43$, $4.91{\pm}2.24$ and elastic band exercise group, $4.91{\pm}2.24$, which shows the difference between the two groups and was not statistically significant. Conclusion : Against a pectoralis minor that cause the findings of this study, RSP proximately shows serratus anterior and the strengthening of trapezius by exercises of the shoulder peaks which decrease in height arbitration scheme of a pectoralis minor stretching effect as shown. Therefore, it is expected RSP patients in clinical intervention methods combined with stretching exercises strengthens muscles against an elastic band exercise effective.

Immediate Effects of Cervical and Thoracic Mobilization on Cervical Range of Motion in the Sagittal Plane and Pain in Patients with Forward Head Posture

  • Purpose: Forward head posture (FHP) is known to cause pain, limit range of motion, and reduce quality of life. Joint mobilization is commonly used to correct FHP. However, no study has compared cervical, thoracic, and combined cervical and thoracic joint mobilization for FHP. The aim of this study was to investigate and compare the effects of each mobilization technique on range of motion in the sagittal plane and pain in patients with FHP. Methods: Forty-five patients were recruited and randomly divided into three groups: the mobilization group (CM; n = 15), the cervical and thoracic mobilization group (CTM; n = 15), and the thoracic mobilization group (TM; n = 15). Each intervention was performed in sets of three and repeated six times. Range of motion and pain were assessed pre- and post-intervention. The cervical range of motion was evaluated using a goniometer, and pain was evaluated using a visual analogue scale and pain thresholds of the suboccipital and upper trapezius muscles. Results: All groups showed an increase in range of motion post-intervention, but the increase in the CTM group was significantly greater than in the CM and TM groups (p < 0.05). Pain measured using the visual analogue scale decreased in all groups, but the decreases in the CM and CTM groups were significantly greater than in the TM group (p < 0.05). The pain thresholds of the suboccipital and upper trapezius muscles increased in all groups, but the increase in the CTM group was significantly greater than in the CM and TM groups (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Overall, our findings suggest that CTM may be more effective than CM or TM for improving cervical range of motion in the sagittal plane and pain in patients with FHP.

Effects of Combined Postural Correction Exercises on Selected Muscle Activity and Stiffness in Children With Cerebral Spastic Diplegia: Case Study (융합적 자세교정치료가 뇌성경직양측마비 아동의 선택된 근육 활성도와 강직도에 미치는 영향: 사례연구)

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the short-term effects of combined postural correction exercises (CPCE) on muscle stiffness and muscle activity in children with cerebral spastic diplegia(CSD). The subjects were 3 children (2 male and 1 female) with CSD from 4 to 7 years old. The measurement sites were upper trapezius muscle(UT), rectus abdominis muscle(RA), and gluteus maximus muscle(Gmax), muscle stiffness and muscle activity were measured using Myoton and surface EMG, and the symmetry of both sides was also examined. As a result, children with severe compensatory action showed decreased muscle stiffness and muscle activity in UT and RA and increase in Gmax after CPCE intervention. Especially, the left and right symmetry of the muscles was decreased. In this study, despite some limitations, CPCE have shown a positive effect in posture correction of children with CSD.
