  • For the Mo-tip field emitter array, the method by which the geometrical structure of the gate insulator wall could be modified in order to improve field emission properties(turn-on voltage and gate leakage current). The device having a gate insulator of complex shape, which means the combined geometrical structure with round shape made by wet etching and vertical shape made by dry etching processes, was fabricated and the field emission properties of the three kinds of devices were compared. As a result, the electric field applied to tip apex could be increased and gate leakage current could be decreased by employing the gate insulator having geometrical wall structure of mixed shape. Finally, the obtained empirical results were analyzed by simulation of electric field distribution at/near the tip apex and gate insulator using SNU-FEAT simulator.

  • This paper introduces the T/RX combined compact active channel module which is a key unit of the active phased array antenna(APAA) system. This module is mainly compoased of two parts for TX and RX fabricated on both sides of the active module for size reduction. The TX-part is primarily composed of a 3-stage amplifier, a microstrip phase shifter, a thermal compensation and a power detection circuit. The RX-part is composed of LNAs a microstrip phase shifter and BPFs for TX power rejection. Using the proposed design structure we can realized a compact active channel module having high performance.

  • This paper presents a new active antenna consisting of a microstrip patch for the passive radiator, a mixer for frequency conversion, a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) and a phase detector for phase control. The microwave signal frequency has been converted into intermediate frequency (IF) on the antenna elements by the mixer. The active antenna consists of two ports, the IF port has a transmitted IF signal via power combined to the baseband and the dc control port is under the control of the phase-detector. The input voltage of the VCO is controlled by the phase detector. The scan range of the array is determined by the phase detector and the VCO and is obtained between 30$^{\circ}$ and - 30$^{\circ}$

  • This paper describes the development of an automated, hand-held sensor for the fast assessment of seafood freshness. The sensor developed here combined: an array-based chemical sensor, composed of incrementally different conducting polymer elements deposited on a small chip; a highly sensitive, custom-made electronics for the detection of very small signal changes; precise temperature control of the sensor chamber; and an on-board microcontroller for data collection, storage, automation, and analysis. The instrument was used to successfully test seafood samples with different degree of freshness and spoilage. A linear relationship between microbiological count and e-Nose signal for three different fish fillet was developed. Once the linear relationship is included into the hand-held unit software, the e-Nose signal can be used for assessment of seafood freshness without performing the microbiological count technique.

  • In this paper, we propose a learning based joint demosaicing and super-resolution framework which uses only the mosaiced color filter array(CFA) image as the input. As the proposed method works only on the mosaicied CFA image itself, there is no need for a large dataset. Based on our framework, we proposed two different structures, where the first structure uses one deep image prior network, while the second uses two. Experimental results show that even though we use only the CFA image as the training image, the proposed method can result in better visual quality than other bilinear interpolation combined demosaicing methods, and therefore, opens up a new research area for joint demosaicing and super-resolution on raw images.

  • In this paper, a stabilizd system operation through a composition of a protective circuit and an improvement of active reflection coefficient(ARC) is studied. Unlike the passive-phased array antenna, the APPA is a combined form of radiating element and transmitter-reciever module. Therefore, a definition of new ARC that differentiates itself from typical passive-phased array antenna must apply. The ARC is a reflection coefficient considering a superposition of a coupling from nearby radiating elements and self reflection. It is an important parameter that predicts and analyzes charateristics of a APPR system. A high level ARC is a direct source inducing a performance degradation of a system. In this paper, as a method for a stabilized operation of APAR, one method for improving a performance and another for degradation prevention are analyzed. An effectiveness of two methods was validated using experiment results of real-fabricated active-phased array antenna.

  • Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma(HNSCC) still has poor outcome, and laryngeal cancer is the most frequent subtype of HNSCC. Therefore, there is a need to develop novel treatments to improve the outcome of patients with HNSCC. It is critical to gain further understanding on the molecular and chromosomal alteration of HNSCC to identify novel therapeutic targets but genetic etiology of squamous cell carcinoma of the larynx is so complex that target genes have not yet been clearly identified. Array based CGH(array-CGH) allows investigation of general changes in target oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes, which should, in turn, lead to a better understanding of the cancer process. In this study, We used genomic wide array-CGH in tissue specimens to map genomic alterations found in laryngeal squamous cell carcinomas. As results, gains of MAP2, EPHA3, EVI1, LOC389174, NAALADL2, USP47, CTDP1, MASP1, AHRR, and KCNQ5, with losses of SRRM1L, ANKRD19, FLJ39303, ZNF141, DSCAM, GPR27, PROK2, ARPP-21, and B3GAT1 were observed frequently in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma tissue specimens. These data about the patterns of genomic alterations could be a basic step for understanding more detailed genetic events in the carcinogenesis and also provide information for diagnosis and treatment in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma. The high resolution of array-CGH combined with human genome database would give a chance to find out possible target genes which were gained or lost clones.

  • This study examined the aesthetic characteristics of Grecian style which is being considered as the representative classic of Western fashion and the transformations of those Grecian styles on the fashion of the twentieth century. This study used positive research method using literatures on art history and clothing history, fashion related publications, and magazines and websites to understand the trend of fashion designer's collections. The study results are as follows. The aesthetic characteristics of Grecian style was considered to be the ideal beauty combined with symmetry, the functional beauty combined with non-construction, and the sensual beauty combined with natural body. The ideal beauty combined with symmetry appears as a style that shows idealistic proportion of a body emphasizing high-waist based on the golden ratio and the body as a whole rather than details. The functional beauty combined with non-construction appears as perfect recreation a body in its original and natural form. The clothing takes a form that does not have any structural design and has simplified cutting and sewing. It uses pins and strings to fix up the form of clothing which is flexible and naturally draped. The sensual beauty combined with natural body is found in natural silhouette dress alluding naked body in connection with Rousseau' naturalism in neoclassic period. Throughout the twentieth century, the desire for Grecian style was conveyed by a single detail or through an array of allusive effects.

  • The most recent improvement in the 10 V array system was carried out with focusing on noise reduction. We have evaluated the uncertainty of the 10 V Josephson array system after the improvement. The uncertainty evaluation of 10 V standard included a comparison with a programmable Josephson array system at 1 V. Every contribution to the measurement uncertainty was evaluated in the level of $10^{-10}$. The estimated combined uncertainty was found to be approximately $10^{-9}$ at 10 V, which was limited only by the indirect verifying method. In the near future, a direct comparison with another 10 V Josephson voltage standard is expected to be carried out to provide more accurate uncertainty evaluation for the KRISS Josephson voltage standard.
