  • Currently, since the black-white QR (Quick Response) codes have limited storage capacity, color QR codes have been actively being studied. By multiplexing 3 colors, the color QR codes can allow the code capacity to be increased by three times, however, the color multiplexing brings about the possibility of crosstalk and noises in the acquisition process of the final image, incurring the decrease of bit-recognition rate. In order to improve the bit recognition rate, while keeping the storage capacity high, this paper proposes a new type of color QR code which uses the pattern information as well as the color information, and then analyzes how to increase the bit recognition rate. For this aim, the paper presents an efficient system which extracts embedded information from color QR code and then, through practical experiments, it is shown that the proposed color QR codes improves the bit recognition rate and are useful for commercial applications, compared to the conventional color codes.

  • The difference of whiteness, brightness and lightness was clearly explained in this paper by use of a tinting dye and a fluorescent whitening agent which are commercially widely used to make paper look whiter. Other optical properties such as tint, color shade, and color difference were also discussed. It is concluded that in comparing two tinting dyes, lightness (L*) is the most important property to be compared, while whiteness data should be used in caution in order not to surpass its significant range, and a*, b* values can also be used to find the change of color shades together with ${\Delta}E$ as color difference. In comparing two fluorescent whitening agents, whiteness or brightness values are most important to be compared, but lightness values are not suitable for this purpose; a*, b* and color difference ${\Delta}E$ can also be referred, but with less significance.

  • This paper introduces a vehicle-following-system in which a moving vehicle recognizes the front vehicle's tail-light color and luminance, while maintaining a certain distance and avoiding collision. Using color images rather than using gray-scale images makes it easier to detect the objective color and eliminates the need of a thresholding. The Methods used are RGB to HSV conversion and global region growing method. This paper contributes to the basic study of Color-Vision, and can be extended to color inspection systems.

  • This research was performed to investigate the physical properties and color appearance of Hanji manufactured using bast fibers dyed separately by two reactive dyes with different colors. The breaking length of color Ha was above 7 km. The fastness was five grade; the use of reactive dyes made the color of the Hanji not to be faded away. The Hanji manufactured by mixing uniformly two types of bast fibers separately dyed showed the mixed color of two different colors. However, the shives showed their original colors, resulted in irregular color patterns all over the sheets. The color of color Hanji with different colors in the front and back side of sheets showed color difference between front and back side of the sheets. Accordingly, the color of the sheet has a reflection from the backside, resulted in Pink. The colors of the Hanji appeared in this study could not be found from the Hanji manufactured by traditional methods.

  • To improve the quality of coating paper, many areas, such as the manufacturing process of inorganic pigment for the coating, the property change of coating color, the surface design of coating pigment and the productivity of coated paper, were studied. In this study the physical properties and printability of coated paper were compared with the coating pigment to modify the surface of large particle and the coating pigment to mix together the large and small particles. After the coating color was mixed under the same conditions in order that the coating color has the same printability, the printability change caused by the surface modification of coating color was investigated. With the surface SEM of coated paper, the efficiency of the surface modification of coating pigment was investigated. The physical property and printability of coated paper, in addition to the physical properties of coating color, were compared and evaluated. Also, the efficiency of printability was evaluated, changing the mixing condition.

  • Recently, the trend in the printing industry includes shorter run lengths and with fast turnaround times. As new markets have made it possible to produce small quantities of high-quality color products at affordable price, the general commercial printing meets the customer's diverse demand by using spot color besides process four colors. Especially, by using spot color for printing the enterprise's logo or specific color, we can see the effect of printing is getting better. With the combination of the right software, ink, media, and device can be treated as a digital proofer for spot color printing, providing significant time and cost savings compared to conventional procedures. The objective of this study is to investigate the quality of spot color proofs printed by ink-jet and dye sublimation proofer using ICC-based color management system. An Epson Stylus Color 3000 ink-jet proofer combined with Best Color Proof XXL RIP was tested for glossy and matte paper. 3M Rainbow dye sublimation proofer was examined using 3M Rainbow controller ver. 4.1 RIP on the manufacturer recommended proofing paper. ICC profiles were generated for each device using ECI 2002 visual target and evaluated for the accuracy of process 4 color reproduction. The test charts consisting of Pantone color 1140 was selected to test the quality of spot color reproduction.

  • A face detection in color images is important for many multimedia applications. It is first step for face recognition and can be used for classifying specific shorts. This paper describes a new method to detect faces in color images based on the skin color and hair color. This paper presents a fuzzy-based method for classifying skin color region in a complex background under varying illumination. The Fuzzy rule bases of the fuzzy system are generated using training method like a genetic algorithm(GA). We find the skin color region and hair color region using the fuzzy system and apply the convex-hull to each region and find the face from their intersection relationship. To validity the effectiveness of the proposed method, we make experiment with various cases.

  • The CMYK is the mathematical color model and the Musell system is an intuitive color model. CMYK color model needs to be proposed in the information age. These two models need to be integrated for convenience of color design. This paper deals with CMRK values, which have appeared in interior design, in association with the Munsell code. Firstly, color samples have been extracted from the cases of interior design. Secondly, the CMRK values of the color sample and the Munsell code have been found. Thirdly, relationship between the CMRK values has been formularized in comparison with the Whelan's color pallette by using the regression method. This paper concludes by proposing the formular which can be used to develope color palette in further research.

  • In this paper, we describe the Color Correction and Preferred Skin Color Reproduction in a ink-jet color printer. The fundamental color correction that converts RGB densities into GMY densities has been ordinarily used. This method can reduce the hue error, but color difference between the preferred skin colors and hardcopy skin colors are large. We have been able to reduce color differences between original skin color and hardcopy skin color by transforming hardcopy skin colors` coordinates into Preferred Skin Colors` coordinates. Experimental results show that the described method is useful and valid for the skin color reproduction in a digital color printer.
