A NONDESTRUCTIVE NIR SPECTROMETER : DEVELOPMENT OF A PORTABLE FRUIT QUALITY METER

  • The quality of agricultural products is very important factor for consumers. In Japan, quality is sometimes more important than cost. Usually, the quality of fresh food products is determined in terms of shape, color, size, etc. However, these indices are not always associated with taste, leaving consumers to complain. Recently, two types of the fruit quality meter (a tabletop type - K-FS200 and a portable type - K-BA100, Kubota Corp.) using NIR technology were introduced in Japan. A tabletop instrument is for post harvest use and a portable one is for precision agriculture use. The both meters use the NIR region from 600nm to 1000nm in the interactance mode to determine quality factors related to taste. The instruments can measure sugar content and acidity of such fruit as apples, tomatoes, tangerines and other fruits. The measurement is timely, nondestructive and precise. For example, the coefficient of variation (CV) is less than 6% for sugar in most fruits. The K-FS200 has been evaluated in supermarkets, grading facilities, and wholesalers in Japan. The introduction of the K-FS200) has drawn attention to taste quality and its use is becoming more popular. In addition, researchers or farmers are becoming interested in measuring product ingredient not only after harvest but also during growing in the field so that they can make intelligent judgements concerning soil amendments, such as fertilizers and water, employs the fiber probe for flexible measurement and is battery powered for field use. Design of the fruit quality meters will be discussed. Applications to fruit quality will be presented.

수종 도재 색조 선택 시스템의 spectrophotometer를 이용한 색조 재현성 평가 (THE REPRODUCIBILITY OF VARIOUS PORCELAIN COLOR SELECTION SYSTEMS USING SPECTROPHOTOMETRY)

  • Statement of problem: Shade selection has traditionally been accomplished by visual examination, which is particularly relevant to the shade selection of anterior teeth, but the subjective nature of visual analysis can lead to errors in shade matching. Recently shade selection systems have been developed to provide a more objective and scientific approach to understanding and clarifying shade selection. Purpose : The purpose of this study was analysis of various shade analyzing equipment with the goal of providing a more objective shade selection. Materials and method: Visual shade matching system selection(Vita Lumin Vacuum shade guide, Vitapan 3D Master shade guide) and mechanical shade matching method($ShadeEye^{(R)}$-EX Chroma Meter, $Shadescan^{TM}$ System) used for this study. The shade guide tap specimens for 10 extracted maxillary anterior teeth were produced by selecting shades using each shade matching system. The accuracy of the selection of shades for the teeth and fabricated specimens were evaluated by analyzing the calculated shade difference(${\Delta}E^*$), using a spectrophotometer and calculating the output of value $L^*,\;a^*,\;b^*$. Results and conclusion: The results show that the average ${\{Delta}E^*$ value (difference of shade) of the shade tap specimens to the actual specimen decreased in the following order: Vita Lumin Vacuum Shade Guide(VL), $ShadeEye^{(R)}$-EX Chroma Meter(SE) Vitapan 3D Master Shade guide(V3), and $Shadescan^{TM}$ System(55) : and that there are significant statistical differences between the VL and SS (p<0.05). In the analysis of the ${\Delta}E^*$ (difference of shade) value,40% of the VL group was found to be less than 3.3 (limit value of shade tap specimens clinically acceptable), 60% in the V3 group, 50% in the SE group, and 80% in the SS group.

Variation of Nitrogen Use Efficiency and Its Relationships with Growth Characteristics in Rice Cultivars

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate the variation of nitrogen use efficiency, nitrogen uptake efficiency, physiological utilization efficiency and their relationships with growth characteristics in the 28 Korean rice cultivars. Nitrogen use efficiency of 28 rice cultivars was 47.74, nitrogen uptake efficiency was 0.71, and physiological utilization efficiency was 68.76 in average. Nitrogen use efficiency of rice cultivars had low variation ranged from 44.09 to 51.91, but nitrogen uptake efficiency were relatively high variation from 0.51 to 0.90, and physiological utilization efficiency was from 51.71 to 94.26. The high efficient group in nitrogen uptake efficiency whose value was calculated above 0.80 included Daeanbyeo, Seojinbyeo, Ansungbyeo, Dongjinbyeo, and Hwaanbyeo, while the low efficient group with below 0.60 was Kwanganbyeo, Sampyeongbyeo, Soorabyeo, and Hwasungbyeo. Hwasungbyeo, Sampyeongbyeo, Soorabyeo for physiological utilization efficiency were more efficient cultivars, while Daeanbyeo, Seojinbyeo, Ansungbyeo were less efficient cultivars. Nitrogen uptake efficiency had positive correlation coefficients between dry matter weight of plant ($0.842^{**}$), leaf area index ($0.761^{**}$), and leaf nitrogen content ($0.599^{**}$), respectively. Therefore, the dry matter weight of rice plant and leaf area index was important characters to evaluate nitrogen uptake efficiency in rice cultivars. Also, more efficient cultivar in nitrogen uptake had higher chlorophyll meter value, which was appeared dark green color.

찹쌀가루를 첨가한 약과의 특성 및 저장성 (Effect of waxy rice flour on the quality and acceptability of Yackwa during storage)

  • This investigation was undertaken for the purpose of studying the quality and acceptability during storage at room or refrigerator temperature of Yackwa containing waxy rice flour substituted for 0,10,30,50,70% of the wheat flour. The storage periods were 0,15,30 and 45 days. Chemical composition, composition of fatty acids, and value, and peroxide values of Yackwa were measured. Sensory evaluation was done by a panel of 5 judges majoring in food and nutrition. The evaluation was repeated 4 times. Objective evaluation was done by rheometer and color difference meter. Chemical composition of Yackwa were $5.9{\sim}6.8%$ for moisture, $3.43{\sim}4.09%$ for crude protein, $22.35{\sim}27.65%$ for crude fat, $0.27{\sim}0.31%$ for ash, $15.6{\sim}18.4%$ for fructose, $10.6{\sim}13.7%$ for glucose, $0.34{\sim}1.0%$ for sucrose, and $0.79{\sim}2.37%$ for maltose, respectively. Fatty acid contents of Yackwa were $10.54{\sim}10.73%$ for palmitic acid, $4.12{\sim}4.18%$ for stearic acid, $25.8{\sim}26.9%$ for oleic acid, $51.6{\sim}52.1%$ for linoleic acid, and $0.27{\sim}0.34%$ for linolenic acid, respectively. Acid value and peroxide value of Yackwa during storage showed little change. As a result of sensory evaluation for Yackwa made various levels of waxy rice flour, there were no significant differences in most of characteristics between the samples supplemented with waxy rice flour to 30% of wheat flour at 0.01% level. By the color difference meter, the value of L (lightness) and b (yellowness) were increased by increasing the amounts of waxy rice flour, however, there were no significant differences at 0.1% level between the samples supplemented with waxy rice flour to 30% of wheat flour, on the other hand, the value of a (redness) was decreased by increasing the amount of waxy rice flour. In the textural characteristics, brittleness, and chewiness were increased by increasing the amounts of waxy rice flour, and by lengthening the storage period, on the other hand, resilience and cohesiveness showed vice versa. In the correlation coefficient between sensory characteristics and mechanical characteristics, overall acceptability in sensory evaluation correlated significantly with cohesiveness, chewiness, and the values of L, a, and b in mechanical test in most of samples(p<0.001).

한국전통발효음식과 전문가 치아미백을 시행한 자연치의 색조변화와의 관련성 (The Relation between Korean Traditional Fermented Food and Discoloration on Bleached Tooth)

  • 본 연구는 한국전통발효음식과 미백치아의 색조변화와의 관련성을 알아보고자 시행하였으며, 연구방법은 전문가 치아미백을 시행한 자연치아를 한국전통발효음식에 일정기간 침전 후 치과용 측색기를 이용하여 치아색조변화의 정도를 객관적으로 측정하였다. 본 연구에 사용된 치아시편은 30개로 한 치아당 30회 측정되었으며, 전체 측정 횟수는 900회 실시되었다. 측정은 치과용 측색기 ShadeEye NCC$^{(R)}$ Dental Chroma Meter를 사용하였다. 수집된 자료는 PASW 18.0을 사용하여 분석한 결과, 미백 전, 후 명도와 황색채도에서 유의한 차이가 나타났으며(p<0.001), 용액침전 후 명도와 황색채도는 시간에 따라 변화하였다(p<0.001). 침전용액에 따른 색조변화량의 차이를 알아본 결과, 미백 후부터 1주 동안, 2주에서 3주까지의 기간 동안 각 침전용액에 따라 유의한 차이가 나타났다(p=0.001, p<0.001). 한국전통발효음식은 침전기간과 침전용액에 따라 미백치아의 색조변화에 영향이 있음을 알 수 있었다. 하지만 본 연구는 구강 내의 상태 그대로를 재연하지 못하였기에 구강 내 상태, 섭취빈도, 구강위생관리에 따라 차이가 있을 것이다.

벼 엽록도값의 품종간 차이와 생육기간중 경시적 변화 (Varietal Differences and Time Course Changes in Greenness Values in Rice Leaf)

  • 고품질 쌀을 생산하기 위하여 엽록소계를 이용하여 질소비료 사용방법을 개선코자 2001년부터 2년 동안 경상남도농업기술원에서 수행한 연구 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 가. 최고분얼기 벼 엽색과 식물체 질소함량과는 높은 상관관계가 인정되었다. 나. 벼 생육에 따라 엽색은 개략적인 M자 모양을 나타내었으며, 출수후 20일경부터 급격히 열어졌다. 다. 질소시비량이 증가할수록 엽색은 짙어졌으며, 보통답보다 미숙답에서 시비량간 엽색의 차이는 더욱 뚜렷하였다. 라. 최고수량을 나타내는 SPAD$\times$경수 값을 보면 보통답은 888, 미숙답은 800이었으며, 이 값을 기준으로 이보다 높거나 낮을 경우 질소 비료량을 가감할 필요가 있을 것으로 판단되었다. 마, 시험에 사용된 26품종 중에서 이삭거름 주는 시기에 엽색이 짙은 벼 품종은 흑향벼, 진품벼, 안성벼, 소비벼, 만풍벼, 상미벼, 진봉벼이었고, 옅은 품종은 농호벼, 새추청벼, 화봉벼, 만안벼이었으며, 그 외 품종은 중간정도의 엽색을 나타내었다.

연초 엽의 색 특성과 원격탐사 반사율지표의 상호관계 (Relationship Between Color Characteristic and Reflectance Index by Ground-based Remote Sensor for Tobacco Leaves)

  • 지상원격탐사 센서를 이용한 황색종의 적숙엽 판단기준을 평가하기 위하여 성숙기에 중엽과 상엽부위에 대하여 수확엽의 녹색도를 5개 수준으로 구분하여 여러 가지 센서지표들의 상호관계를 평가하였다. 건조엽의 색 특성은 색차계(Colorimeter, CR-300)를 이용하여 L, a, b값을 측정하였고 건조엽의 청색도는 육안관찰에 의한 분포정도를 수치화하여 비교 검토하였다. 수확엽의 녹색도에 따른 반사율은 550nm와 675nm에서 녹색도가 증가할수록 감소되는 특성을 보였다. 건조엽의 반사율은 미숙된 엽이 건조된 후 녹색이 잔류되었기 때문에 미숙엽의 675nm 반사율이 더 낮아졌다. 그 결과 동일한 엽위에서 생엽과 건조엽의 반사율지표는 직선적인 정의 상관을 보였다. 또한 건조엽의 청색도는 모든 센서지표들과 유의성 있는 정의 상관을 보였고 명도를 나타내는 색차계 L값은 센서지표들과 유의성 있는 부의 상관을 보였다. 따라서 건조엽의 청색도로 평가된 센서 종류별 적숙엽의 기준은 엽록소 측정치 SPAD 값은 22 이하, 엽록소 측정치 CM-1000 값은 135 이하, 그리고 원격탐사센서 Crop Circle의 gNDVI 값은 0.43 이하로 평가되었다.

블루베리의 내한성 평가 및 목재수분계측기를 이용한 동해피해 진단 (Evaluation of Cold Tolerance of Blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum L.) and Diagnosis of Freezing Injury Using Timber Moisture Meter)

  • 외국에서 도입한 블루베리의 내한성을 평가하고, 목재수분계측기가 월동 중 블루베리 가지의 동해피해를 간편하고 신속하게 진단하는데 활용할 수 있는지를 알아보기 위하여 수행되었다. 월동 중 블루베리의 가지의 고사율은 0~100%로 다양하게 나타나 품종별 내한성의 차이가 컸다. 블루베리 가지의 저온처리에 따른 TTC 검정에서 품종별 OD값은 $-40^{\circ}C$ < $-21^{\circ}C$ < $4^{\circ}C$ 순으로 처리온도가 낮을수록 낮게 나타났다. 블루베리 가지의 저온처리에 따른 가지절단면의 색의 검정은 가지고 사율에 의한 내한성과 다른 결과와 차이가 있었다. 목재수분계측기에 의해 측정된 살아있는 블루베리 가지의 월동 중 최저 수분함량은 약 15%였으며, 월동 중 블루베리 가지의 위치별 수분함량은 나무 아랫부분일수록 높고 가지 끝으로 갈수록 낮았으나, 봄으로 접어들면서 가지 끝의 수분함량이 점점 높아져 20~40% 범위로 측정되었다. 월동 중 동해피해를 받은 가지는 점점 건조되어 수분함량이 5% 이하로 낮아졌다. 동해를 받은 블루베리 가지의 수분함량은 14% 수준 이하일 것으로 추정되며, 목재수분계측기가 블루베리 가지의 동해피해를 현장에서 신속하게 진단하는데 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

토양의 질산태 질소 간이검정 (The Test Strip Reflectometer Method as a Quick Test Procedure for Soil Nitrate Nitrogen)

  • 밭 토양 특히 시설재배 토양의 질소시비량을 결정하기 위한 효율적 검정법으로 확인된 $NO_3-N$의 간이 검정법을 개발하기 위하여 Hanna Ion Specific meter를 이용한 비색법과 Test strip Reflectometer를 이용한 측정법을 선정하고, 실험실 분석법인 Specific Ion Meter에 의한 이온 전극법 및 Kjeldahl 증류법과 함께 비교 분석하였다. 평가방법은 토양중 $NO_3-N$ 함량이 $25mg\;kg^{-1}$$55mg\;kg^{-1}$인 두 토양에 대하여 각 분석방법을 7반복씩 수행하여 표준편차를 비교하였고, 두 토양에 $NO_3-N$ 표준용액을 첨가하여 $NO_3-N$ 함량이 각각 100, 150, 200, 250, $300mg\;kg^{-1}$인 표준농도 계열에 대하여 7반복으로 분석하여 회수율을 비교하였다. 또한 $NO_3-N$ 함량이 $10mg\;kg^{-1}$에서 $340mg\;kg^{-1}$으로 분포되는 시설재배 토양 20개 시료에 대하여 3반복씩 분석하여 $NO_3-N$ 농도에 따른 측정치의 신뢰도를 비교하였다. 분석방법에 따른 측정치의 신뢰도와 회수율은 이온 전극법이 가장 양호하였고 Kjeldahl 증류법, Test strip 간이법, Hanna 비색법의 순이었다. 간이 검정법에 따른 비교에서 Hanna 비색법은 낮은 농도와 높은 농도에서 큰 오차를 보였으나 Test strip 간이법은 실험실 정밀분석법인 이온 전극법 및 Kjeldahl 증류법과 버금가는 신뢰도와 95% 이상의 회수율을 보였다. 따라서 단순한 분석절차와 짧은 분석시간을 고려해 볼 때 Test strip 간이법은 질소 시비량의 결정을 위한 현장의 간이 검정법으로 활용 가능한 것으로 평가되었다.

LED 색광에 대한 갈치의 행동반응 (Behavioral reaction of hairtail (Trichinus lepturus) to different colors of LED light)

  • This study carried out an experiment to find out the reaction of hairtail, Trichinus lepturus to the colors of LED light as a basic study on the development of the trolling gear and a method to enable the day-night operation. We used hairtails caught around Seongsan-po, Jeju Island by set nets and hairtail angling. The seven hairtails of the average length 68.9 cm (SD 9.2 cm) and the average weight 135.9 g (SD 47.9 g) were adapted themselves in the experimental water tank, 15 m Self-Governing 1.7 m in height and 1.5 m in depth, and then they were studied. We conducted experiment at the Ocean and Fisheries Research Institute in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province, from November to December 2015, and the sea surface temperature was between 16.5 and $19.5^{\circ}C$. The four colors of LED light, blue, white, green and red, were set up to transmit downward from the marginal area of tank. The 1 meter depth light intensity of LED colors is as follows: $0.09w/m^2/s$ (blue), $0.18w/m^2/s$ (white), $0.04w/m^2/s$ (green) and $0.007w/m^2/s$(red) To know the optimum LED color light, we selected one with better reaction rate after comparison of two colors simultaneously and the selected color was again compared to the other color in a tournament style two times a day (day and night) and ten times totally. The reaction rates were shown as the frequencies of hairtail appearance for 5 minutes in the lighting zone after turning on the LED lights. The reaction rate of the blue was at 97% unlike the red 3% (p < 0.001). The blue was at 75% unlike the green at 25% (p < 0.001). The blue was at 67% unlike the white at 33% (p < 0.001). Therefore, the color of light source showing the highest reaction rate was the blue.
