  • In this paper, we propose a video data segmentation method using edge and color distribution of video frames and also develop a video browser by using the proposed algorithm. To segment a video, we use a 644-bin HSV color histogram and the edge information which generated with automatic threshold method. We consider scene's characteristics by using positions and colo distributions of object in each frame. We develop a hierarchical and a shot-based browser for video browsing. We also show that our proposed method is less sensitive to light effects and more robust to motion effects than previous ones like a histogram-based method by testing with various video data.

  • Most of image binarization algorithms analyzes the intensity distribution using the histogram for the determination of threshold value. When the intensity difference between the foreground object and the background is great, the histogram shows the tendency to be bimodal and the selection of the histogram valley as the threshold value shows the good result. On the other side. when the intensity difference is not great and the histogram doesn't show the bimodal property, the histogram analysis doesn't support the selection of the proper threshold value. This Paper Proposed the novel binarization method that applies the fuzzy membership function to each color value on the RGB color model and, by using the operation results, separates the features having the great readability from the background. The proposed method prevents the loss of information incurred by the gray scale conversion by using the RGB color model and extracts effectively the readable features by using the fuzzy inference Compared with the traditional binarization methods, the proposed method is able to remove the majority of noise areas and show the improved results on the image of transport containers , etc.

  • Visibility in underwater images is usually poor because of the attenuation of light in the water that causes low contrast and color variation. In this paper, a new approach for underwater image quality improvement is presented. The proposed method aims to improve underwater image contrast, increase image details, and reduce noise by applying a new method of using contrast stretching to produce two different images with different contrasts. The proposed method integrates the modification of the image histogram in two main color models, RGB and HSV. The histograms of the color channel in the RGB color model are modified and remapped to follow the Rayleigh distribution within certain ranges. The image is then converted to the HSV color model, and the S and V components are modified within a certain limit. Qualitative and quantitative analyses indicate that the proposed method outperforms other state-of-the-art methods in terms of contrast, details, and noise reduction. The image color also shows much improvement.

  • In this study, we propose the unsupervised image segmentation algorithm to estimate dental plaque accumulations on digital imaging with methylene blue disclosed plaque. With this aim, RGB color plane is mapped into HSI coordinates and the circular histogram of Hue is reconstructed by applying Otsu's threshold level. The histogram distribution on Saturation features is also analyzed by maximizing the variance between a plaque candidate and non-plaque one. The dental plaque regions are resolved by applying the composite decision logics based on the threshold level of Hue and Saturation.

  • In this paper, we proposed a content-based image retrieval algorithm using local binary patterns and HSV color histogram. Images are retrieved using image input in image retrieval system. Many researches are based on global feature distribution such as color, texture and shape. These techniques decrease the retrieval performance in images which contained background the large amount of image. To overcome this drawback, the proposed method extract background fast and emphasize the feature of object by shrinking the background. The proposed method uses HSV color histogram and Local Binary Patterns. We also extract the Local Binary Patterns in quantized Hue domain. Experimental results show that the proposed method 82% precision using Corel 1000 database.

  • In this paper, we propose a high-quality image acquisition algorithm using only a single image, which the high-quality image is normally referred as HDR ones. In order to acquire the HDR image, conventional methods need many images having different exposure values at the same scene and should delicately adjust the color values for a bit-expansion or an exposure fusion. Thus, they require considerable calculations and complex structures. Therefore, the proposed algorithm suggests a completely new approach using one image for the high-quality image acquisition by applying statistical difference and histogram manipulation, or histogram specification, techniques. The techniques could control the pixel's statistical distribution of the input image into the desired one through the local and the global modifications, respectively. As the result, the quality of the proposed algorithm is better than those of conventional methods implemented in commercial image editing softwares.

  • This paper presents an approach for detecting and measuring human skin pigmentation. In the proposed scheme, we extract a skin area by a Gaussian skin color model that is estimated from the statistical analysis of training images and remove tiny noises through the morphology processing. A skin area is decomposed into two components of hemoglobin and melanin by an independent component analysis (ICA) algorithm. Then, we calculate the intensities of hemoglobin and melanin by using the location histogram and determine the existence of skin pigmentation according to the global and local distribution of two intensities. Furthermore, we measure the area and density of the detected skin pigmentation. Experimental results verified that our scheme can both detect the skin pigmentation and measure the quantity of that and also our scheme takes less time because of the location histogram.

  • A compensation method of color error resulting from dynamic range transformation of color image is propsoed. The color error is measured using the CIE L a b uniform color space, and the color image is compensated to minimize it. The color error is significant in the dark region of image, which is caused by the lunimance scaling factor is relatively large in that case. In the proposed method, we weight the luminance scaling factor corresponding to luminnce to minimize the error. Because the weighting factor depends on luminace distribution of image, a decisio method of weighting factor using histogram is also proposed.

  • Color enhancement basically deals with color manipulation in digital images. Recently, the technique has become widely used as a result of the increasing use of digital cameras. Retinex-based colorenhancement algorithms are a popular technique. In this paper, retinex with bilateral filtering is proposed to improve the quality of poorly illuminated images. Generally, it consists of three main steps: first, a retinex-based algorithm with color restoration; second, transformation mapping using histogram matching; and finally, smoothing the image using a bilateral filter. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can successfully enhance image contrast while avoiding the halo effect and maintaining the color distribution in the image.

  • Color correlogram is widely used in content-based image retrieval (CBIR) because it extracts not only the color distribution of pixels in images like color histogram, but also extracts the spatial information of pixels in the images. The color correlogram uses single color space. Therefore, the color correlograms does not have robust discriminative features. In this paper, we use both RGB and HSV color spaces together for the color correlogram to achieve better discriminative features. The proposed algorithm is tested on a large database of images and the results are compared with the single color space color correlogram. In simulation results, the proposed algorithm 5.63 average retrieval rank less than single color space correlogram.
