  • This paper presents a collision avoidance scheme for redundant robot manipulators based on the Configuration Control Scheme. We set a center line through the free space. And we use the redundancy to put the robot links, around the center line as close as possible to avoid the collision with obstacles. Computer simulation shows the effectiveness of this approach.

  • A real-time collision avoidance algorithm for an AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot) using the Distance Transform and Vector Field Histogram is studied. This approach enables AMR to find a collision-free path with the unknown obstacles. All system parameters including positions of the obstacles can be accepted using a mouse icon and all the obtained trajectories can be displayed on a computer monitor in graphics.

  • The rapid development of computer technology and widely application of artificial intelligent provide technology support for realizing navigation automation on the sea. which has achieved great success in shipping advanced countries like japan, England, America, Germany and also in the developing country, China. However, it still remains in the studying Period up to now in aspects of collision avoidance decision-making mathematical model and reasoning mechanism. In this paper, approaches are proposed to establish the collision avoidance automation system. One of them is based on the former studies to realize automation system by make use of finite state machine theory and following the International regulations for Preventing Collision at Sea, 1972. The others are to establish the new idea about automatic collision avoidance system by taking advantage of the free flight idea, hybrid system, game theory used in air traffic management studies in recent years and the common characteristics in both air and sea traffic management.

  • Linkage positions in oligosaccharides may be obtained by FAB CAD MS/MS (Fast Atom Bombardment Collision Activated Dissociation Mass Spectrometry/Mass Spectrometry). Acetylated derivatives of the linkage-isomeric trisaccharides exhibited more useful product ion patterns than the free trisaccharides and provided specific fragmentation patterns according to linkage positions. The reason for the useful linkage dependent spectra patterns of acetylated forms is related to the ability of each linkage in the oligosaccharides to absorb different levels of collision energy and rotational freedom of the individual glycosidic linkage.

  • In this study, the inspection path which is considered to free collision is generated by offset surface. When the inspection is executed, the consideration of machine dynamic error increases a precision. Dynamic error is measured on CNC machine bed changing of weight work price. Offset surface is safety space about collision. Because the danger of probe-collision is excluded in Offset surface, it is possible to rapid feed of probe and reduced inspection time. The Program which is possible to simulate using CAIP and is confirmed through actual experiment.

  • Recently, the use of robots for painting operations has received much attention, as it is a powerful means for automation and quality improvement. Collision-avoidance is a key issue in the path planning for painting operations. In this paper, we develop a computationally efficient algorithm for the generation of collision-free path for two types of motion: a) Gross motion when the robot approaches the painting area, and b) Fine motion while spraying the surface. The former is a typical collision-avoidance problem, but the latter calls for special attention as the painting mechanics has to be incorporated into path planning. The developed algorithm is applied for the internal coating of the car body whose structure is the major source of collision.

  • In this letter, we design a collision resolution protocol for optical burst switching ring networks to avoid burst collision. We define the offset time condition for no burst transmission collision and manage the free time list of nodes for no burst reception collision. In order to improve the throughput, we use a fiber delay line, void-filling, and void-compression. This protocol does not require any additional procedures for bandwidth reservation such as centralized assignment of bandwidth, lightpath setup of WDM ring networks, or token capturing for the burst transmission. The simulation results show that the proposed protocol can achieve high throughput while saving 70% of wavelengths when compared to round robin with random selection, round robin with persistent, and round robin with non-persistent with only destination delay.

  • In this paper, we present a framework for collision avoidance of UGVs by vision-based control. On the image plane which is created by perspective camera rigidly attached to UAV hovering stationarily, image features of UGVs are to be controlled by our control framework so that they proceed to desired locations while avoiding collision. UGVs are assumed as unicycle wheeled mobile robots with nonholonomic constraint and they follow the image feature's movement on the ground plane with low-level controller. We used potential function method to guarantee collision prevention, and showed its stability. Simulation results are presented to validate capability and stability of the proposed framework.

  • This paper presents a new method driving multiple robots to their goal position without collision. To consider the movement of the robots in a work area, we adopt the concept of avoidability measure. The avoidability measure figures the degree of how easily a robot can avoid other robots considering the velocity of the robots. To implement the concept to avoid collision among multiple robots, relative distance between the robots is proposed. The relative distance is a virtual distance between robots indicating the threat of collision between the robots. Based on the relative distance, the method calculates repulsive force against a robot from the other robots. Also, attractive force toward the goal position is calculated in terms of the relative distance. These repulsive force and attractive force are added to form the driving force for robot motion. The proposed method is simulated for several cases. The results show that the proposed method steers robots to open space anticipating the approach of other robots. In contrast, since the usual potential field method initiates avoidance motion later than the proposed method, it sometimes fails preventing collision or causes hasty motion to avoid other robots. The proposed method works as a local collision-free motion coordination method in conjunction with higher level of task planning and path planning method for multiple robots to do a collaborative job.

  • Objective : The latest version of the Leksell Gamma Knife IconTM allows for mask- and frame-based fixation. Although mask fixation provides fractionated treatment and immobilization using a noninvasive method, it is not free from collision. The authors investigated the collision problem with a modified mask fixation method. Methods : This study presents a case of two meningiomas in the frontal area, where a collision occurs in the occipital area. A modified mask fixation method was introduced to avoid the collision : first, the edges of the head cushion were cut off and polystyrene beads with a diameter of approximately 5 cm were removed. Next, the head cushion was sealed using a stapler. Finally, the head cushion was flattened in the adapter. We compared the shot coordinates, 3-dimensional (3D) error, clearance distance, and vertical depth of the head cushion between the initial and modified mask fixations. Results : When comparing the initial and modified mask fixations, the difference in the shot coordinates was +10.5 mm along the y-axis, the difference in the 3D error was approximately 18 mm, and the difference in clearance was -10.2 mm. The head cushion was approximately 8 mm deeper in the modified mask fixation. Conclusion : Based on these findings, we recommend a modified mask fixation method for gamma knife radiosurgery using ICON with a collision.
