Collision Avoiding Navigation of Marine Vehicles Using Fuzzy Logic

  • A fuzzy logic for collision avoiding navigation of marine vehicles is proposed in this paper. VFF(Virtual Force Field) method, which is used widely in the field of mobile robots, is modifiel to apply to marine vehicles. The method is named MVFF (Modified Virtual Force Field) mothod. The MVFF consists of the determination of the heading angles far track-keeping mode ($\psi_{ca}$)and collision avoidance mode ($\psi_{ca}$). The operator can choose the pattern of the track-keeping mode in the proposed algorithm. The collision avoidance algorithm can handle static and/or moving obstacles. These functons are implemented using fuzzy logic. Various simulation results verify the proposed alogorithm.

  • Crashworthy design of a train is a systematic approach to ensure the safety of passengers and crews in railway transportation for the prescribed accident scenarios. This approach needs new structural arrangements and designs to absorb higher levels of impact energy in a controlled manner and interior designs to minimize passenger injuries. In this paper, an evaluation method for crashworthiness of Korean tilting train express is introduced. Crush characteristics for each part of tilting train express are evaluated numerically through 3-dimensional shell element analysis with LS-DYNA. Based on a head-on collision and a level crossing collision scenarios, the crash behaviors of tilting train express are evaluated numerically using full-rake collision simulations.

  • A new algorithm for planning a collision free path is developed based on linear parametric curve. A collision-free path is viewed as a connected space curve in which the path consists of two straight curve connecting start to target point. A single intermediate connection point is considered in this paper and is used to manipulate the shape of path by organizing the control point in polar coordinate (.theta.,.rho.). The algorithm checks interference with obstacles, defined as GM (Geometry Mapping), and maps obstacles in Euclidean Space into images in CPS (Connection Point Space). The GM for all obstacles produces overlapping images of obstacle in CPS. The clear area of CPS that is not occupied by obstacle images represents collision-free paths in Euclidean Space. Any points from the clear area of CPS is a candidate for a collision-free path. A simulation of GM for number of cases are carried out and results are presented including mapped images of GM and performances of algorithm.

Double Sieve Collision Attack Based on Bitwise Detection

  • Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) is widely used for protecting wireless sensor network (WSN). At the Workshop on Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems (CHES) 2012, G$\acute{e}$rard et al. proposed an optimized collision attack and break a practical implementation of AES. However, the attack needs at least 256 averaged power traces and has a high computational complexity because of its byte wise operation. In this paper, we propose a novel double sieve collision attack based on bitwise collision detection, and an improved version with an error-tolerant mechanism. Practical attacks are successfully conducted on a software implementation of AES in a low-power chip which can be used in wireless sensor node. Simulation results show that our attack needs 90% less time than the work published by G$\acute{e}$rard et al. to reach a success rate of 0.9.

  • Author presented some study with a title of "automatic control for ship collision avoidance system" in previous papers. The paper reported the tread of the study, un-sloved issues and outcome of the study. In this paper, some additional results will be reported. The first is the algorithm of avoidance of group ship that is one of the un-sloved issues. The algorithm is useful when a ship takes an avoiding action toward group fish boats and approaching group merchant vessel. The second is unified model for calculating ship collision risk. The collision risk changes with various meet type of ships. Therefor newly-developed model is suggested to take into account of these situations. Finally simulation is carried out to verify suggested algorithm and model in various ship encounter situations..

  • Recently, as the railway vehicles become speedy and massive, the collision is being regarded as an important factor for the assessment of safety for passenger. And the study of collision is being in progress more actively in advanced nations. In this study, the collision analysis is performed by using non-linear dynamic finite element program PAM-CRASH. The carbody used in analysis is made of Aluminum AL6005A to realize lightweight, and designed and manufactured by DHI (Daewoo Heavy Industry) lately. For the accuracy of the result in the practical collision, the experiment of material properties has been performed. The result of the analysis shows the underframe of rolling stock is the most important part as a collision energy absorbing structure. Further study is needed for optimal design which enables the carbody shell structure to disperse absorbing energy adequately.

Simultaneous Burst and Burst Control Packet Transmission Protocol for Optical Burst Switching Ring Networks

  • In this letter, we design a collision resolution protocol for optical burst switching ring networks to avoid burst collision. We define the offset time condition for no burst transmission collision and manage the free time list of nodes for no burst reception collision. In order to improve the throughput, we use a fiber delay line, void-filling, and void-compression. This protocol does not require any additional procedures for bandwidth reservation such as centralized assignment of bandwidth, lightpath setup of WDM ring networks, or token capturing for the burst transmission. The simulation results show that the proposed protocol can achieve high throughput while saving 70% of wavelengths when compared to round robin with random selection, round robin with persistent, and round robin with non-persistent with only destination delay.

  • When ship claps against the ocean structure sited at shallow water, the time simulation of motion responses of dolphin-moored ocean structure is presented. The equatien of motion based on Cummin's theory of impulse responses are employed, and solved in time domain by using the Newmark $\beta$ method. The added mass and damping coefficients involved in the equations are obtained from a three-dimensional panel method in the frequency domain. The impact forces due to ship collision are modeled as two method, and those are elastic and non-elastic collisions. The mooring forces for dolphin systems of scean structure are considered as linear spring system.

  • 본 논문에서는 이동 로봇이 자율주행을 하기 위해 사용되는 충돌회피 알고리즘을 실제 로봇과 똑같은 환경에 적용된 시뮬레이터를 통해 성능을 알아본다. 이동 로봇의 충돌회피를 위해 기존에 인공전위계 알고리즘과 Elastic force 알고리즘 등이 제안되어져있다. 본 연구에서는 시뮬레이션을 통해 이 두 가지 방법에 의한 동작시간과 경로의 이동 길이를 비교하였다. 시뮬레이터는 IPC(Inter Process Communication)를 기반으로 개발되어졌으며, 알고리즘의 비교에는 차륜형 이동 로봇을 사용하였다.

  • In this paper, we present a framework for collision avoidance of UGVs by vision-based control. On the image plane which is created by perspective camera rigidly attached to UAV hovering stationarily, image features of UGVs are to be controlled by our control framework so that they proceed to desired locations while avoiding collision. UGVs are assumed as unicycle wheeled mobile robots with nonholonomic constraint and they follow the image feature's movement on the ground plane with low-level controller. We used potential function method to guarantee collision prevention, and showed its stability. Simulation results are presented to validate capability and stability of the proposed framework.
