  • Acoustic Emission is not only expected as a non-destructive evaluation technique in practice but also noted as a new powerful means of evaluation of materials. AE occurs with plastic deformation and propagation of crack, and this patterns of occurence of AE vary with materials. AE which comes from propagation of crack depends oil the shapes and properties of materials. Like this AE has characteristic of material. The present work is an attempt to evaluate characteristics of carbon steel (SM55C) and Die steel(SKD11) by means of dynamic response of AE method.

오스테나이트계 고망간강에서 인장 특성과 피로거동에 미치는 변형유기상의 영향 (The Effect of Deformation Induced Phase on Tensile Properties and Fatigue Behavior of Austenitic High Mn steel)

  • The effect of grain size on the tensile properties and fatigue behavior of austenitic high Mn steel has been investigated. The recrystallized austenite grain size of the cold rolled high Mn steel was increased as the annealing temperature increased from $600^{\circ}C$ to $1000^{\circ}C$. Larger austenite grain size decreased the yield strength and the tensile strength, and increased the uniform elongation due to transformation of some austenite into twins or E-martensite phase during deformation. Austenite grain refinement increased the tendency to form dislocation cells, instead. The specimen annealed at $1000^{\circ}C$ with large grain size showed lower fatigue crack propagation rate in low ${\Delta}K$ region due to rougher fracture surface caused by formation of deformation twins during fatigue at the crack tip region.

  • A finite element-based, integrated process model is presented for a three dimensional, coupled analysis of the thermal and mechanical behavior of type 304 stainless slab during hot charge rolling (HCR) and cold charge rolling (CCR) processes. The validity of the proposed model is examined through comparison with measurements. The susceptibility on micro-crack initiation or propagation due to the thermal stress in these two different process conditions was examined. The model's capability of revealing the effect of diverse process parameters is demonstrated through a series of process simulation.

  • The fatigue crack initiation life is studied on automotive tensile-shear spot weldment made from cold rolled carbon steel(SPC) sheet by using DCPDM and local strain approach. It can be found that the fatigue crack initiation behavior in spot weldment can be definitely detected by DCPDM system. To predict the fatigue life of spot weldment, the local stresses and strains at the potential critical region are estimated by approximate method based on Neubers rule and elastic-plastic FEM analysis. A satisfactory correlation between the predicted life obtained from Local strain approach based on Neubers rule and experimental life can be found in spot weldment within a factor of 2.

  • Concrete placed under hot weather condition suffers from larger slump loss, rapid moisture evaporation due to high air temperature. Proper measures for material, transportation and curing should be taken to prevent the quality deterioration of the concrete under hot weather condition. In Korea, Although the period of hot weather concrete in Korea occupies only 2 months, there are a lot of quality problems including plastic, drying shrinkage and cold joint. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to investigate and compare the temperature history and crack occurrence of the concrete, which was placed in the actual apartment house construction field under hot weather condition, in response to the application of surface covered curing blankets including PE film, single layer clear bubble sheet, white colored bubble sheet and aluminum metalized bubble sheet. Test results indicated that the application of white colored bubble sheet and aluminum metalized bubble sheet showed most favorable results in terms of reduction in temperature rise and crack occurrence as well as easiness in handling. But, due to light reflection by aluminum metalized bubble sheet, it is believed that white colored bubble sheet is preferable.

  • The brake pipe is important part in automobile. The brake pipe have to prevent crack, fracture and defects for braking in safety. Especially, shape of ends of pipe has influence on ability of brake. Based on the procedure of process design, in this paper, the forming operation is designed by finite element method. Design variable and response value was selected shape of die and damage factor. To improve die that performed FEM and compared results of two types of die.

  • Concrete placed under cold weather has some defects such as the decrease of initial strength by hydration delay, strength unrecovery at unhardened concrete freezing, and structural failure and crack by expansion pressure. So, in this study, we tried to evaluate the JIS mortar which was made under cold weather using de-icing agency. In mortar test, the do-icing agency increased compressive strength under standard curing, and the de-icing agency made by NaNO$_2$ gave the highest strength. However, as pre-curing time under 21$^{\circ}C$ was short, the de-icing agency made by NaNO$_2$ and Ca[NO$_3$]$_2$ had the highest strength.

  • Non-heat treated steels are attractive in the steel-wire industry since the spheroidization and quenching-tempering treatment are not involved during the processing. In this study, three different steels such as dual phase steel, low-Si steel, and ultra low carbon bainitic steel were used to investigate their deformation resistance and forming limit. Deformation resistance was estimated by calculating the deformation energy and the forming limit was evaluated by measuring the critical strain revealing crack initiation at the notch tip of the specimens. The results showed that deformation resistance was the lowest in the low-Si steel, and the forming limit strain was the highest in the ultra low carbon bainitic steel.

코팅재로서 MMA 개질 폴리머 페이스트의 내구성능 평가 (Evaluation of Durability on MMA-Modified Polymer Paste for Coating materials)

  • In this study, MMA-modified paste of coating material for protecting the concrete structures was developed. The coating material was applied to cement concrete specimens by brush, roller and spray in each of which one, two and three layers to survey, by the cold-hot iterative test, the neutralization test, the chloride ion permeation test and the ante-abrasion test, the affect of painting methods and layers influencing on the durability of coating material. Results of the cold-hot iterative test showed that, regardless of the painting methods and layers, the defects such as crack or fuzz on surface were not produced. As the number of painting layers increased, the neutralization prevention as well as the chloride ion permeation prevention effects were increased. On the other hand, no difference was found between the painting methods. Reducing weight by abrasion of polymer paste coating material was $20\%$ comparing to that of cement mortar.

온돌용 목질마루판의 표면물성 (Surface Properties of Wood-Based Floorings for Under Heating Systems (Ondol))

  • This study was investigated with the surface properties such as physical and accelerated tests of wood-based floorings. In physical test, hardness and abrasion resistance values of laminate floorings were higher than those of others. The center line average surface roughness($R_a$) of imported laminate flooring was highest value($1.34{\mu}m$) and that of imported solid wood flooring was lowest value($0.62{\mu}m$). In cold resistance and moist heat resistance, no defects were found on the surface of all flooring (crack, blistering, peeling, and gloss loss etc.) after testing. Wet-cold-dry cycle test showed that plywood flooring appeared some cracks. In accelerated weathering test, color difference increased with increasing Xenon arc light irradiation
