Between 1976 and 1984 approximately 26.7 tons of Chinese coins were recovered from a shipwreck which was found at the seabed of the Shin an area in the south-western coast of the Korean peninsula. Elements, Cu, Pb, Sn, Fe, Sb, As, Zn, Ag, Ni, Co and Mn, of 54 pieces of the coins were determined by Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectroscopy(ICP-AIS). The result shows that Ch, Pb, and Sn were found to be major elements roughly the coins with the ratio of 7 : 2 : 1, respectively. Trace elements were classified into 3 levels according to the avarage concentration : Fe,As and Sb(0.1-0.5%), Ag, Mi, Co and Zn(100-1000ppm) and Mn(10ppm). Some systematic tendencies are observed in the composition change with a function of their minting ages .The Wuzhu coins(오수전) from the Eastern Han dynasty(A.D.25-219 )are much more abundant in Cu than the coins of Tang dynasty(A.D.618-907) and later periods. Major element compositions of the Kai -tong Vuan-Bao(개통원보) coins from the Tang dynasty, were remarkably variable. In general, however, the Tang dynasty coins were much more abundant in Cu than the Song dynasty(A.S.S60-1279) coins. The amount of major elements Cu and Sn decreases while that of Pb in creasesby passage of age from the Bei Song dynasty(A.D.960-1127) to later Nam Song dynasty (A.D.1127-1279 ). It means that the quality of coins mere degraded. The amounts of trace elemends(Fe, As, Co, Hn) increases with the above age. High amounts of trace elements are supposed to be a reflection of immaturity of minting techniques or use of impurity-rich raw materials. The Jin dynasty(A.D.1125-1234) coins are found to be rich in Sn and thus contain Pb as the third component. It is quite different from the coins of the Song dynasty. The Zhi-dai Tong-Bao(지대통보) coins of the Yuan dynasty from A.0.1310 are much more abundant in Cu and Sn than those of the Nam Song dynasty .
This paper presents an archaeological interpretation of the results of conservation treatment and scientific analysis of the ancient Chinese bronze coin known as Huo Quan(貨泉) coins excavated from Tomb No. 4 at the Madeung Archaeological Site in Heukcheon-ri, Haenam. Huo Quan coins were issued in China by Wang Mang(王莽) when he founded the short-lived Xin(新) Dynasty and were used in the Samhan(三韓) period in Korea. A total of thirteen Huo Quan coins were excavated from the Madeung Archeological Site with some coins fused to each other. They were classified as clusters A, B, and C. On a coin from the B cluster the classical Chinese characters "貨泉" are visible to the naked eye, but no characters are visually identifiable in the other coins. For conservation treatment, foreign substances attached to the surfaces of the coins were removed, weak materials were reinforced with protective coatings, and fragments were reattached to the main bodies of the coins. Next, Nano CT scanning was conducted to identify the exact number of coins within the clusters and examine the surface condition of the coins. It revealed the inscription "貨泉" on twelve out of thirteen coins. In addition to these coins excavated from Heukcheon-ri, a number of coins were excavated from a tomb in Bokryong-dong, Gwangju. This necessitates an investigation into the possible development of a monetary economy in this region.

Recently, various cryptocurrencies (coins) based on block chains have appeared, and interest in privacy coins, which is an anonymity-based cryptocurrency that values personal information protection, is growing. In this paper, we look at coin abuse cases using privacy coins, and analyze the technology that guarantees the anonymity of 8 mainly traded privacy coins (Monero, Dash, Zcash, BEAM, Grin, Horizen, Verge, and Pirate Chain). We would like to analyze the applied technologies for We present the problems that can occur in these privacy coins, check the technology and each element applied to the privacy coin, and analyze the technical difficulty of the anonymity guarantee technology for the mainly traded coins through this, and Appropriate countermeasures and classification of privacy coins for technical difficulty were presented through the problem. Through this, the standard for re-evaluating the value of the coin according to the application of appropriate technology for the privacy coin can be presented.
Because the coins of about 920 billion are hoarded during these ten years, the national treasury of about 35 billion wons is wasted in minting coins every year. In this paper we promote to revitalize the circulation of coins through the connection with the financial world. Firstly embedded software that is contained in the coin banking ATM is developed. Then we developed new business process model that does customer spend coins efficiently in online through this system. The system constructed in this paper can contribute to the public interest and the marketability of the nation because of reducing waste of the national treasury and improving utilization and negotiability of coins.

It is generally believed that teaching probability with the help of coin tossing has a long history. In textbooks about elementary probability or statistics, problems on unfair coins as well as fair ones are frequently given. However it is known that nobody has met an unfair coin with a fixed head probability which is different from 0.5 in flesh and blood. In this study a coin bent along with the middle line of the coin is suggested as an unfair one. By flipping bent coins with various angle, the ratios of head of the coins are obtained. The bent coins might be used as experimental tools for teaching of probability concept.
Fifty ancient Korean coins originated in Choson dynasty have been determined for 9 elements such as Sn, Fe, As, Ag, Co, Sb, Ir, Ru and Ni by instrumental neutron activation analysis and for 3 elements such as Cu, Pb, and Zn by atomicalsorption spectrometry. Bronze coins originated in early days of the dynasty contain as major constituents Cu, Pb and Sn approximately in the ratio 90 : 4 : 3, where as, those in latter days contain in the ratio 7 : 2 : 0. Brass coins which had begun in 17century contain as major constituents Cu, Zn and Pb approximately in the ratio 7 : 1: 1. The multivariate date have been analyzed for the relation among elemental contents through the variance-covariance matrix. The data have been fur theranalyzed by a principal component mapping method. As the results training set of 8class have been chosen, based on the spread of sample points in an eigenvector plotand archaeolgical data such as age and the office of minting.
In this paper, we develop an automatic coin calculation system by using digital image processing. Existing schemes have the problem that is not able to exclude non-circular shape from the calculation. We propose a method to detect only coins which have circular form by applying the circular Hough transform(CHT). However, the CHT has the drawback that detects multiple circles even for just one coin because of shadow noise, the patterns on coins, and non-circular edge detection. We propose a post processing algorithm to overcome these limitations. The proposed system was implemented and successfully calculated the coin amount in the case that non-circular objects are mixed with coins.
We conducted preservation treatment for 25 pieces of coins of Goryeo era in collection of the National Museum of Korea. Object coins are 5 kinds of 'Donggukjungbo', 'Dongguktongbo', 'Haedongtongbo', 'Haedongjungbo', 'Samhanjungbo'. As it is worried that if all chlorides able to make bad influence on reclics are removed, letter and chape of coin can be damaged, they were removed partially. To date, inscribed letter form of Dongguktongbo is known as more than 6 types, and as a result of interpreting X-ray photos, 3 types of inscribed letters were identified by this study. Bronze rust acquired in the process of removing rust on coins, origin of materials for coin was assumed through lead isotope ratio analysis. Latest tendency is that diverse scientific analyses are conducted based on bronze rust.
Limited materials to make coins for countries and designs suitable for hand-carry make the shape, size, and color of coins similar. This similarity makes that it is difficult for visitors to identify each country's coins. To solve this problem, we propose the coin classification method using CNN effective to image processing. In our coin identification method, we collect the training data by using web crawling and use OpenCV for preprocessing. After preprocessing, we extract features from an image by using three CNN layers and classify coins by using two fully connected network layers. To show that our model designed in this paper is effective for coin classification, we evaluate our model using eight different coin types. From our experimental results, the accuracy for coin classification is about 99.5%.
