Autophagy in neurodegeneration: two sides of the same coin

  • Autophagy is a bulk lysosomal degradation process important in development, differentiation and cellular homeostasis in multiple organs. Interestingly, neuronal survival is highly dependent on autophagy due to its post-mitotic nature, polarized morphology and active protein trafficking. A growing body of evidence now suggests that alteration or dysfunction of autophagy causes accumulation of abnormal proteins and/or damaged organelles, thereby leading to neurodegenerative disease. Although autophagy generally prevents neuronal cell death, it plays a protective or detrimental role in neurodegenerative disease depending on the environment. In this review, the two sides of autophagy will be discussed in the context of several neurodegenerative diseases.

A Study of the Development of Cultural Products that Utilize the Traditional Saekdong Image (전통 색동이미지를 응용한 문화상품개발에 관한 연구)

  • This is a study regarding the development of cultural products with applied traditional Saekdong-image. The objective of this study is to develop unique cultural products which combine traditional korean images with modern feel by utilizing traditional Saekdong-image. Saekdong has been an object of deep attachment and regarded as a tool for expressing korean images from ancient times to the present. Chosun dynasty shows a wonderful growth of fashion not only in dress but also in such accessories as patchwork wrapping-cloth and Saekdong, which imply a lot on formation or color arrangement. Approximately 24 pieces of cultural products that can be used in daily life were created using Saekdong, including traffic or credit card cases, name card cases, pouches, coin purses, bags, Vest, teapot wrapping-cloth, brooch. After design plans were made for each works, natural dyes were used to dye(dip dyeing) the fabrics(cotton, silk, linen) by theme. In addition, the increased quality of the products will be a competitive edge in the world market where products compete with no national bounds.

  • The increase of vehicles stagnations leads to the increasing attention to the way customers pay and a large number of projects on electronic cash system. Tranport system is comprised of a number of advanced technologies, including information processing, communications, control, and electronics. Recently many research on a system which provides contact in order to protect driver's vehicle passage have been carried out. And some potential problems from that system are being reviewed by electronic cash system. In this papers, we suggest RF protocol developing technology using the concept of electronic cash. ATM electronic cash developing is consist of component of pre-developed coin throw, integration of component using its, and production of more requirement-satisfactory ITS solution. Result increase 15~40% pre-type vehicles stagnations. Especially, we expect this proposed concept would be well adapted to our national environments.

  • The current load combination criteria for design of nuclear power plant structures are not based on the probability-based design concept but rely on the conventional design concept. In this paper, a load combination criteria for design of NPP coin-tainment structures are proposed based on a FEM-based random vibration analysis. More accurate reliability analyses under various dynamic loads such as earthquake loads were made possible by incorporating the FEM and random vibration theory, which is different from the conventional reliability analysis method. In this paper, the load factors for the design of NPP structures in Korea are proposed by considering appropriate fond combination criteria for design.

펄스자장을 이용한 고이방화 Nd-Fe-B자석의 종축자장성형방법

  • 고에너지적 Nd-Fe-B계 소결자석 제조를 위한 펄스자장 성형시, 금형 및 다양한 성형조건이 자석의 이방화율 향상에 미치는 영향에 대하여 조사하였다. 일반적으로 butterfly, disk or coin 형태의 자석을 제조하는 방법으로는, 종축자장성형법(Axial Die Press, ADP)을 이용하여 최종제품의 near-net shape으로 성형 및 소결하는 방법과, 횡축자장성형법(Transverse Die Press, TDP)을 이용하여 blick or cylinder 형태로 제조한 후 여러 단계의 가공공정을 거쳐 최종제품으로 제조하는 방법이 적용되고 있다. 그러나, ADP의 경우 분말의 자장정렬 후 성형단계에서 성형밀도가 증가함에 따라 배향의 틀어짐 현상이 증가하므로 이방화율 향상의 한계가 있어 (BH)$_{MAX}$+iHc=54 이상의 자석은 제조되기 어렵고, TDP의 경우 고이방화 자석의 제조가 가능하나 복잡한 형상의 제품을 직접 성형할 수 없어 성형/소결 후 복잡한 가공공정을 거쳐야 하므로 재료의 손실뿐만 아니라 고가의 가공비용이 소요되므로 경제적인 문제점을 갖게 된다. 반면에, 펄스자장 종축성형방법(PDP)은 3T~5T의 펄스자장을 이용하여 분말의 정렬 및 성형을 동시에 수행함으로써 TDP보다 향상된 배향율이 얻어질 수 있으며, ADP으로만 실현 가능한 복잡한 형성의 자석을 near-net shape으로 제조가 가능한 잇점이 있다.다.

  • 본 논문에서는 약한 키를 가지는 대화식 영지식 증명을 이용한 인증 프로토콜의 안전성을 강화하는 방법을 제시한다. 일반적으로 대화식 영지식 증명을 이용한 인증 프로토콜은 충분히 길고 랜덤한 비밀키를 가정하고 그 비밀키에 대한 영지식 증명을 수행하게 된다. 하지만 때에 따라서 충분히 길지 않거나 랜덤하지 않은 비밀키가 선택될 수 있다. 즉, 좋지 않은 난수 발생기를 써야 하는 경우, 또는 패스워드처럼 의도적으로 약한 키를 사용하는 경우가 생기며, 대화식 영지식 증명은 이에 적합하지 않다고 알려져 있다. 본 논문에서는 비밀 동전 던지기(Secret Coin Tossing)라는 개념을 제시해서, 일반적인 영지식 증명을 이용한 인증 프로토콜을 약한 키를 가지는 영지식 증명 기반 인증 프로토콜로 쉽게 변환할 수 있는 프레임웍을 제안한다. 또한, 이 프레임웍을 이용해서 설계된 인증 프로토콜이 ideal cipher model에서 안전함을 보인다.

  • The greatest integer that does not belong to a numerical semigroup S is called the Frobenius number of S. The Frobenius problem, which is also called the coin problem or the money changing problem, is a mathematical problem of finding the Frobenius number. In this paper, we introduce the Frobenius problem for two kinds of numerical semigroups generated by the Thabit numbers of the first kind, and the second kind base b, and by the Cunningham numbers. We provide detailed proofs for the Thabit numbers of the second kind base b and omit the proofs for the Thabit numbers of the first kind base b and Cunningham numbers.

  • In many sports games, we would use a coin or the game of rock-paper-scissors to decide which side will begin rst. We consider the game of rock-paper-scissors when two teams are composed of two individuals respectively. There are many methods to choose one team of the two. We consider all 3 cases when all 4 individuals participate simultaneously or one by one. According to the methods of the game rules we nd the means and variances of the number of games respectively.

  • The purpose of this study is to research and develop polymer secondary battery. This paper describes the first discharge characteristics of PAn/Li-Al secondary battery. PAn was prepared in $HBF_4$ aqueous solution by galvanostatic electropolymerization and then used as cathode active material. PAn/Li-Al secondary battery was prepared in 2025 coin type. Characteristics of this battery are summarized as follows. ${\bullet}$ Open curcuit voltage and discharge end voltage was 3.5V and 2.9V, respectively. ${\bullet}$ The ratio of electricities in discharge to theoretical electricities in all undoping of PAn cathode was 56% at constant current discharge of 1mA. ${\bullet}$ The capacity density, energy density and maximum power density per weight of PAn electroactive material were 56.1Ah/kg, 168.4Wh/kg and 16.9kW/kg, respectively.
