  • The increase of vehicles stagnations leads to the increasing attention to the way customers pay and a large number of projects on electronic cash system. Transport system is comprised of a number of advanced technologies, including information processing, communications, control, and electronics. Recently many research on a system which provides contact in order to protect driver's vehicle passage have been carried out. And some potential problems from that system are being reviewed by electronic cash system. In this papers, we suggest RF protocol developing technology using the concept of electronic cash. ATM electronic cash developing is consist of component of pre-developed coin throw, integration of component using its, and production of more requirement-satisfactory ITS solution. Result increase 15-40% pre-type vehicles stagnations. Especially, we expect this proposed concept would be well adapted to our national environments

  • A new power control algorithm for wireless communication which can be applied to various near distance communications and USN/RFID systems is proposed. This technique has been applied and tested to lithium coin battery operated UHF/microwave transceiver systems to show extremely long communication life time without battery exchange. The power control algorithm is based on the dynamic prediction method of arrival time for incoming packet at the receiver. We obtain 16mA current consumption in the TX module and 20mA current consumption in the RX module. The advantage provided by this method compared to others is that both master transceiver and slave transceiver can be low power consumption system.

  • Turbulent flow characteristics of a two - dimensional oblique plate impinging jet(OPIJ) were experimentally investigated. The jet mean velocity and turbulent intensity profIles were also measured along the plate. The jet Reynolds numbers(Re, based on the nozzle width)ranged from 10, 000 to 35, 000, the nozzle - to - plate distance(H/B) from 2 to 16, and the oblique angle (a) from 60 to 90 degree. It has been found that the stagnation point shifted toward the minor flow region as the oblique angle decreases and the position of the stagnation point nearly coin¬cided with that of the maximum turbulent intensity.

  • The purpose of this research is to develope a FEM program for analyzing solidification processes of axisymmetric casting, considering phase changes and the contact between the metal and mold. Tempera- ture recovery method is employed fro considering the phase changes releasing the latent heat and the coin- cident node method is used for calculating the amount of heat transfer between the metal and mold. Tan- gent modulus algorithm is adopted for calculating flow stress and a gap element is employed for modeling the interface between the mold and metal in finding deformed shapes. In order to verify the developed program, axisymmetric aluminum and steel casting processes are simulated. Temperature distribution, phase front position, and shrinkage and porosity creation are compared with measurements, FIDAP results, and good agreements are examined.

  • The seismic behaviors of steel moment connections with different structural characteristics are investigated. The rupture index, which represents the fracture potential, is adopted to study the effect of concrete slab and the relative strength between the coin the beam, and Panel zone on the ductility of connections. The results show that the presence of slab increases the beam strength, imposes constraint near the beam top flange, and consequently, induces concentrated deformation near the beam access hall, which reduces the ductility of the connection. The total deformation capacity of the connection depends not only on the beam but also on the column and panel zone. Therefore, the detrimental slab effects and the relative strength should be considered in the seismic design of the connection.

  • We propose a PC cluster using general-purpose microprocessors and a high-speed network for simulating ANN (Artificial Neural Network) processes on Linux OS. We apply this cluster to intelligent information processing such as ANN simulation. The elapsed time for simulating ANNs can be reduced from 7,295 seconds by a PE (Processing Element) to 1,226 seconds by six PEs. The reliability of a pattern-classification using ANNs can be improved by the proposed ANN, Randomized-ANN. In order to generate a Randomized-ANN, we choose three ANNs and combine the output results from three huts by means of logical AND. Results are as follows: The mean correct answer rate is 94.4%, the mean wrong answer rate is only 0.1 %, and the mean unknown answer rate is 5.5 %. We make sure that Randomized-ANN approach reduces the mean wrong answer rate within a tenth part and improves the reliability of Japanese coin classification.

  • Primary cyst of the diaphragm is a rather uncommon disease. This is a report of a case of diaphragmatic cyst, located in the tendinous portion of the right diaphragm. The patient had no specific symptoms in the respiratory systems, but suffered from gastrointestinal symptoms [indigestion, epigastralgia, and loss of appetite etc.] for 2 months. Accidentally, on a simple chest x-ray examination, a round homogenous mass density was discovered. Tomography showed a well circumscribed parenchymatous mass. So a coin lesion in the medial segment of the right lower lobe was suspected. A thoracotomy was performed. There were no pathological findings in the lung and pleura. A ping-pong ball sized round mass, which was soft, elastic and fluctuated,was noted in the tendinous portion of the diaphragm. It was enucleated completely without diaphragmatic rupture, and diagnosed as a primary diaphragmatic cyst [fibrous-walled] by the histopathologic examination. Postoperative course was uneventful.

  • 본 논문에서는 스마트폰을 이용한 잔돈 관리 시스템에 대해 제안한다. 현재 동전의 실거래양도 적을뿐더러 사람들의 경우에는 동전이 생겼을 경우 동전을 주머니에 넣고 다니는 불편을 겪고 있다. 이에 스마트폰을 이용하여 잔돈을 직접 받는 것이 아니라 이를 어플을 통해 마일리지 형태로 적립하여 추후에 자신의 계좌로 저금한 금액을 출금할 수 있으며 저금한 금액의 일부를 자동 기부함으로 아름다운 사회 만들기의 일환에 도움이 된다. 이는 동전휴대의 불편함을 개선 가능하고 함부로 사용가능한 동전사용을 막아 저축의 기능도 있으며 동전이 유통되지 않아 계속 더 큰 돈을 들여 만드는 한국은행의 돈을 줄일 수 있을 것으로 예상된다.

  • Inconveniences which might arise in transmitting measured biological data based on cable protocols generally are recognized critical points in tele-monitoring environment and also restrict the mobility of the user. a. Especially, activity monitoring which is importantly recognized as a core parameter in ubiquitous healthcare arena and weight management, pervasive and wireless measuring technology is most needed. In this paper, we would like to suggest lower power, miniaturized communication system in order to solve the above problems. The suggested system is powered by small coin-size battery. Also, The suggested system is compared with a blue-tooth module which is generally available in the commercial market. Even though, the suggested system didn't have higher transmission rate, its low power consumption make the suggested system would be feasible in ubiquitous monitoring of biological signals in ubiquitous healthcare arena.

  • Autophagy is a bulk lysosomal degradation process important in development, differentiation and cellular homeostasis in multiple organs. Interestingly, neuronal survival is highly dependent on autophagy due to its post-mitotic nature, polarized morphology and active protein trafficking. A growing body of evidence now suggests that alteration or dysfunction of autophagy causes accumulation of abnormal proteins and/or damaged organelles, thereby leading to neurodegenerative disease. Although autophagy generally prevents neuronal cell death, it plays a protective or detrimental role in neurodegenerative disease depending on the environment. In this review, the two sides of autophagy will be discussed in the context of several neurodegenerative diseases.
