  • Many people today suffer from stress originated from diseases, daily life, workplace, or environmental pollution. People want a comfortable and stable life along with physical and mental relaxation. As the number of people pursuing a comfortable life increases, terms of well-being and wellness have become more common, and wellness-related industries are also developing. Among the wellness and well-being industries, the wellness entertainment contents are one of the highest growing industries. This study aims to investigate how wellness contents contribute to improving the psychological well-being level of users through the mediating effect of telepresence in online. Specifically, this study suggests a hypothesized research model on the influence of online wellness entertainment content, which consists of sensory-, emotional-, and cognitive-attributes, on telepresence, followed by psychological well-being and word-of-mouth. With an empirical test using data on the experience of meditation app experience for 305 people, the result showed that the hypotheses in the research model were supported. The result of this study showed that wellness content induces users' telepresence and word-of-mouth, suggesting that wellness contents are needed to develop into a profit model rather than being limited to simple mental and physical stability.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a mobile application on quality of life, wellness, and preventive behaviors against dementia among older adults who use senior citizen centers. Methods: Seventy-two older adults who used senior citizen centers were allocated to an intervention group (n = 36) and a control group (n = 36). The experimental treatment involved a cognitive enhancement program for preventing dementia using a mobile application for 12 sessions over 6 weeks. Data were analyzed using the t-test, chi-square test, Fisher's exact test, paired t-test, and independent t-test. Results: The cognitive enhancement program based on a mobile application was effective for wellness (t = -3.87, p < .001) and preventive behaviors against dementia (t = -3.98, p < .001) for older adults who used a senior center. Conclusion: The mobile application-based cognitive enhancement program developed in this study is recommended as an effective intervention for dementia prevention in older adults.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of computerized cognitive therapy on cognitive function and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living for elderly people with mild cognitive impairment living in the community. 22 MCI elderly people were randomly assigned to 11 experimental group and 11 control group. For a total of 10 weeks, 3 times a week, 30 minutes per session, the experimental group received CoTras and the control group received traditional cognitive rehabilitation. Neurobehavioral Cognitive Status Examination(NCSE) and Korean Instrumental Activities of Daily Living(K-IADL) were used to investigate the changes in cognitive function and performance of instrumental activities of daily living before and after the intervention. As a result of the study, the experimental group showed improvement in overall cognitive function, including attention and memory, and performance in IADL. The use of CoTras may be considered to improve cognitive function and performance of instrumental activities of daily living for the elderly with mild cognitive impairment in the community.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of dual-task training with cognitive effort on the walking and balance functions of chronic stroke patients. The study included 14 chronic stroke patients, who were randomly divided into the experimental group (EG) and control group (CG), each with 7 patients. The EG performed the dual-task training with cognitive effort 3 times a week, 30 minutes for 4 weeks, where as the CG performed single-task training three times a week, for 30 minutes for 4 weeks. Outcome assessments were made with 10 m walk test, timed up and go test, 6 minutes walk test, and Berg balance scale. In within-group comparison, subjects from the EG showed significant differences in all variables (p<.05), while subjects from the CG showed only significant differences in 6 minutes walk test, and Berg balance scale (p<.05). Further, there was significant difference in the improvement rate of 10 m walk test. The findings suggest that the dual-task with cognitive effort may be beneficial for improving walking and balance functions of patients with chronic stroke.

  • Recently, social technologies have been created to solve problems from businesses for the establishment of generational solidarity ecosystem in terms of employment, residential space, network and social capital, age, cognitive and environmental aspects. This is senior-friendly healthcare business system aimed at meeting the senior needs for health life to enjoy active consumption culture life even after retirement, becoming a catalyst for minimizing generational conflicts, preventing the cognitive and physical deterioration of seniority in the areas of life healthcare, fitness and well-aging, and expanding into systems necessary for seniority self-reliance. We would like to draw up the development and requirements of the concept of the service platform for the study of collective characteristics for generation solidarity with senior class and the establishment of a customized senior health life system for generation solidarity. This system is characterized by a platform that can prevent the decline of seniors' cognitive and physical functions and enhance emotional stability. It is significant in providing feedback on the risk perception index, fall index, and prevention training index information to the child through the analysis and extraction of the senior health index for risk perception, fall probability, and fall prevention.
