Development of Ultra-High Strength Galvannealed Steel Sheets

  • Application of ultra-high strength steel sheets is one of the most important methods to satisfy weight reduction and crash safety of a vehicle. Recently, there has been a trend to apply ultra-high strength steel sheets widely to underbody parts in which corrosion resistance is required. In this work, ultra-high strength galvannealed steel sheets with a tensile strength of 1180 MPa were developed. Newly developed ultra-high strength galvannealed steel sheets have comparable properties, such as mechanical properties, spot weldability, crashworthiness and adhesion of coatings, to conventional steel sheets.

High $T_c$ Superconductor Applications and Thick Film Preparation

  • High $T_c$ superconducting lines will be applied as key materials in the areas of power transmission line; magnetic levitation of vehicle; magnetic separation; magnetic energy storage and marine propulsion. A combination method of electrophoresis deposition and zone-melting for preparation of YBaCuO tape is proposed. The submicron particle powder of YBaCuO made by sol-gel method is used in the electrophoresis process. A 40∼50 ${\mu}\textrm{m}$ thickness of YBaCuO film on Ag plate could be deposited in about three minutes. After deposition the film is rolled and heat treated in order to increase the density and the adhesion of the film to the Ag plate. Silver(Ag) and lead oxide(PbO) were added in the YBaCuO powder in order to reduce its melting point. The YBaCuO coating with controlled Ag and PbO contents was preliminarily zone-melted at about $945^{\circ}C$.

부산시 공입지역 환경 대기 중 VOCs 특성 및 발생원 규명 (Characteristics and Identification of Ambient VOCs Sources in Busan Industrial Area)

  • 부산광역시에서 운영하고 있는 VOCs 자동측정망에서 실시간 분석되고 있는 데이터를 이용 감전동과 장림동에 대한 환경대기 중의 VOCs 특징 및 발생원을 규명하고자 하였다. 사상구 감전동과 사하구 장림동은 국가 공단 내에 위치하고 있어, 인근 지역에 소재하고 있는 공장의 영향을 많이 받은 것으로 조사되었다. 감전동 지역에 영향을 줄 수 있는 배출원 및 그 배출원의 기여도를 추정하기 위하여 PMF 모델을 수행한 결과 분류된 배출원과 그 기여도는 유기용제(29.83%), 표면 코팅(17.13%), 차량 배기가스(15.22%), 압축기의 윤활유와 세탁시설(13.95%), LPG 차량(15.22%), 난방연소(7.11%) 및 자연적 배출원(6.61%)로 나타났다. 특히 유기용제와 표면코팅이 가장 큰 기여도를 나타내었는데 이는 감전동에 위치한 많은 제조공장과 자동차 정비시설의 영향과 사상구에 위치한 유기용제 및 페인트 제조공장의 영향에 기인한 것으로 판단되어 진다.

은이 피복된 단심 Bi(2223) 초전도 선재에 대한 SrZrO3 코팅층의 접착강도 특성 (Bond Strength of SrZrO3 Coatings on Ag Sheathed Bi(2223) Mono-core Tape)

  • 은이 피복된 Bi(2223) 단심 초전도 선재에 절연층으로 $SrZrO_3$ 피막을 졸-겔과 딥-코팅법으로 제조하여 $SrZrO_3$ 코팅층과 초전도 선재간 접착력 특성을 조사하였다. 실험인자로는 출발원료의 몰비, 유기화합물 첨가량, 건조온도 및 시간, 열처리 온도 및 시간이었으며 다구찌법의 망대특성과 $L_18(2^1{\times}3^7)$ 직교배열표를 이용하여 코팅층의 최적조건인 인자와 수준 조합의 최적화를 접착강도를 측정하여 분석하였다. 최적의 접착 특성을 가진 코팅조건은 Sr/Zr의 몰비가 0.3/0.7, 유기화합물 첨가량이 5wt%, 건조온도 및 시간은 160${\circ}C$ 10분, 열처리 온도 및 시간은 500${\circ}C$ 20분이었다. 분산분석 결과, 유의수준이 ${\alpha}$=0.1인 통계적으로 90% 신뢰공정이었다.

Si 변성 유/무기 하이브리드 코팅액에 의한 아연도금강판의 내식특성 (Corrosion Resistance of Galvanized Steel by Treating Modified Si Organic/Inorganic Hybrid Coating Solution)

  • Galvanized steel has gone through a chemical process to keep it from corroding. The steel gets coated in layers of zinc because rust will not attack this protective metal. For countless outdoor, marine, or industrial applications, galvanized steel is an essential fabrication component. The reduction of the corrosion rate of zinc is an important topic. In the past, a very popular way to reduce the corrosion rate of zinc was to use chemical conversion layers based on $Cr^{+6}$. However, a significant problem that has arisen is that the use of chromium salts is now restricted because of environmental protection legislation. Therefore, it is very important to develop new zinc surface treatments that are environmentally friendly to improve the corrosion resistance of zinc and adhesion with a final organic protective layer. In this study, a Urethane solution (only Urethane 20 wt.%; S-700) and an organic/inorganic solution with Si (Si polysilicate 10 wt.% + Urethane 10 wt.%; LRO-317) are used. Based on the salt spray test of 72 h, S-700 and LRO-317 had a superior effect for the corrosion resistance on EGI and HDGI, respectively.

Performance and heat transfer analysis of turbochargers using numerical and experimental methods

  • Turbocharger technology is one of the ways to survive in a competitive market that is facing increasing demand for fuel and improving the efficiency of vehicle engines. Turbocharging allows the engine to operate at close to its maximum power, thereby reducing the relative friction losses. One way to optimally understand the behavior of a turbocharger is to better understand the heat flow. In this paper, a 1.7 liter, 4 cylinder and 16 air valve gasoline engine turbocharger with compressible, viscous and 3D flow was investigated. The purpose of this paper is numerical investigation of the number of heat transfer in gasoline engines turbochargers under 3D flow and to examine the effect of different types of coatings on its performance; To do this, modeling of snail chamber and turbine blades in CATIA and simulation in ANSYS-FLUENT software have been used to compare the results of turbine with experimental results in both adiabatic and non-adiabatic (heat transfer) conditions. It should be noted that the turbine blades are modeled using multiple rotational coordinate methods. In the experimental section, we simulated our model without coating in two states of adiabatic and non-adiabatic. Then we matched our results with the experimental results to prove the validation of the model. Comparison of numerical and experimental results showed a difference of 8-10%, which indicates the accuracy and precision of numerical results. Also, in our studies, we concluded that the highest effective power of the turbocharged engine is achieved in the adiabatic state. We also used three types of SiO2, Sic and Si3N4 ceramic coatings to investigate the effect of insulating coatings on turbine shells to prevent heat transfer. The results showed that SiO2 has better results than the other two coatings due to its lower heat transfer coefficient.

터널 배수공의 재질에 따른 스케일 부착 특성에 관한 연구 (Bond Characteristics of Scale According to the Drainage Pipe's Material in Tunnel)

  • 지하수에 의하여 터널 내로 유입된 수산화칼슘($Ca(OH)_{2}$)이 이산화탄소($CO_{2}$)와 차량의 배기가스($SO_{3}$) 등과 반응하여 그 반응물이 터널의 배수공 내에 침전되어 배수공 클로깅 현상이 발생하였다. 대부분의 반응물은 화학분석 결과 칼사이트의 탄산칼슘 ($CaCO_{3}$)인 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서는 일반적으로 터널의 배수공으로 사용되는 PVC관과 새로운 재질의 배수공인 테프론 코팅강관, 실리콘오일 코팅관, 아크릴관에 CaO 수용액과 터널 배수공 유출수를 흘려보내어 스케일 부착형태를 분석함으로써 배수공의 재질이 스케일 부착에 미치는 영향을 연구하였다. 그 결과 PVC관에서 가장 많은 양의 스케일이 생성되었고 아크릴관, 실리콘오일 코팅관, 테프론 코팅강관의 순으로 관 표면에 스케일이 적게 부착되었다. 그러나 장기적 시험결과 테프론 코팅강관의 경우 관표면이 터널 유출수에 포함되어 있는 토사로 인하여 손상되어 코팅재의 탈락, 강관의 부식 등이 발생하여 내구성에 문제가 있었다.

Application of Taguchi Method and Orthogonal Arrays for Optimization of Adhesion of $SrZrO_3$ Coatings on Ag/Bi(2223) Tapes

  • Adhesion of $SrZrO_3$ resistive oxide barrier on Ag sheathed Bi(2223) tapes prepared by the sol-gel and dip-coating method was evaluated with an aid of Taguchi method and Lie($2^1{\times}3^7$) orthogonal arrays to determine the optimal process combination of levels of factors that best satisfy the bigger is better quality characteristic (QC=B). For analyses of results statistical calculations such as average and analysis of variance (ANOVA) were employed to analyze the results for improving the performance qualities of the dip-coated $SrZrO_3$ film. Experimentally, the performance of the films was evaluated in terms of bond strength by varying Sr/Zr moi ratio (A), amount of organic vehicle additives (B), drying temperature (C) and time (D), heat treatment temperature (E) and time (F), respectively. The optimal combination of levels of factors was determined to be $A_3B_2C_3D_2E_1F_3$ having a 90% confidence level.

매쉬심 합체박판을 이용한 자동차 Bumper beam의 성형기술에 관한 연구 (The study for the forming technology of Automobile Bumper beam using the Tailored Blank of Mash Seam Welding)

  • In recent automotive industry, vehicle weight can be reduced by one-step forming of tailored blanks welded with two or more sheets of metal blanks. Tailored blank(TB) welding is a production method for blanks involving welding together materials of different quality, thickness, and coating, and has proved popular in fabrication automotive parts. This paper deals with the forming characteristics of mash seam welded tailored blanks. Using these forming characteristics, the bumper beam was developed using the mash seam welded tailored blank with the different thickness. We performed the forming simulation with respect to strain distribution on blank during the stamping of the bumper rail part. Based on these results, we made some stamping tryouts with selected types of blank designs to investigate the formability of tailored blank with different thickness. During the tryouts, we knew that it was important the BHF(Blank Holding Force). We obtained to reducing 10.5% weight and cost with adapting the bumper beam of automotive component using the tailored blank of mash seam welding.

철도차량용 와전류 브레이크의 다중 인자 분석 (Analysis of Multiple Factor of the Eddy Current Brake for Railway Application)

  • This paper is analysis of multiple factor that should be considered in the design of an eddy current brake used as auxiliary brake system. The eddy current brake is a brake that generates a braking torque in a rotational direction opposite to the direction of the rotor by using a time-varying magnetic flux. The eddy current brake has the advantage of being able to take high current densities because this is used for a short period of time. Also, the eddy current brake is influenced by multiple factor such as number of slots, teeth width, coating thickness, air-gap length and so on. Therefore the eddy current brake was designed for use in railway application in consideration of the operation region and critical parameters.
