Phase evolution and tribological behavior of Cr-Mo-N multi compositional films with different interlayer were investigated. The films were deposited by hybrid PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) system consisted of dc unbalanced magnetron (UBM) sputtering and arc ion plating (AIP) sources. A pure molybdenum (Mo) was used as sputtering target and also a pure Cr was used as AIP target to form the Cr-Mo-N films. Various growth planes were found, no textured surface, in all of the multi composition films. Maximum value of microhardness was measured in Cr-Mo-N film with Mo interlayer as 29 GPa. Composition film was mainly showed the aspect of the adhesive wear than CrN film. The friction coefficient was decreased from 0.6 for pure CrN coating to 0.35 for Cr-Mo-N film with Mo interlayer. This result may come from the formation of metal oxide tribo-layer which is known as solid lubricant during the wear test.

Electroplating of Ag and Au on the functional area of lead frames are required for good bonding ability in IC packaging. As the patterns of the lead frame become finer, development of new deposition technology has been required for solving problems associated with process control for uniform thickness on selected area. Sputtering was employed to investigate the adhesion between substrate Alloy42 and Ag film as a new candidate process alternative to conventional electroplating. Coating thickness of Ag film was controlled to 3.5$\mu\textrm{m}$ at room temperature as a reference. The deposition of film was optimized to ensure the adhesion by process parameters of substrate heating temperature at $100~300^{\circ}C$, sputter etching time at -300V for 10~30min, bias voltage of -100~-500V, and existence of Cr interlayer film of $500\AA$. The critical $load L_{c}$ /, defined as the minimum load at which initial damage occurs, was the highest up to 29N at bias voltage of -500V by scratch test. AFM surface image and AES depth profile were investigated to analyze the interface. The effect of bias voltage in sputtering was to improve the surface roughness and remove the oxide on Alloy42.

Transparent conductive oxide (TCO) are necessary as front electrode or anti-reflecting coating for increasing efficiency of LED and Photodiode. In this paper, aluminum-doped Zinc oxide films(AZO) were prepared by DC magnetron sputtering on glass(corning 1737) and Si substrate at temperature of $100^{\circ}C$ and then annealed at temperature of $400^{\circ}C$ for 1hr in Ar and vaccum. The AZO films were etched in diluted HCL (0.5 %) to examine the surface morphology properties. After annealing, Structural and electrical property were investigated. The c-axis orientation along (002) plane was enhanced and the electrical resistivity of the AZO film decreased from $1.1\times10^{-1}$ to $1.6\times10^{-2}{\Omega}cm$. We observed textured structure of AZO thin film etched for 2s.

Metallic glass alloys having dense packing structure have short range ordered structure with long range homogeneity. Therefore, they can provide complete corrosion protection and unique electrical properties. Recently, metallic glass thin films have received much attention to extend its application fields combining with PVC coating technologies. The metallic glass thin films can change the surface properties of the conventional bulk materials which need anticorrosion properties. However, multi-component alloying targets are required to fabricate the metallic glass thin films because metallic glass alloys contain more than three elements. Recently, many researchers have been reported the properties of the metallic glass thin films synthesized with multi-cathode systems or amorphous target. But, it is difficult to fabricate the large sized sputtering targets for mass production equipment with high toughness and thermal stability. In this study, newly developed sputtering target with glass forming ability and the properties of the metallic glass thin films will be introduced with respect to the various application fields such as bipolar plate in PEM fuel cell and decorative coatings for electric device and construction fields.

M-CeO2 (M : noble metal) catalysts have been widely studied as three-way catalysts and methanol synthesis catalysts. Ceria is thought to play a number of roles in these catalysts. The Ce(IV)/Ce(III) redox pair may store/release gases under oxidizing/reducing conditions, extending the operational window. Additionally, metal-ceria interactions lead to several effects, including the dispersion of the active components and promoting the activation of molecules such as CO or NO. Pd is a promising component to current TWC formulations and behaves particularly well when compared with Pt and Rh-based catalysts for low-temperature oxidation of Co and hydrocarbon. However the effect of Pd-ceria interactions on the physicochemical properties of Pd and the redox properties of Ce is not elucidated yet. In order to know exactly about the metal-ceria interactions, the model study are expecting to give a better environment, resulting in the wide use of the surface science tools. The substrate was Si(100) wafer, on which Ta metal was sputtered as a thickness of 100nm. The CeO2 thin film of 30nm was deposited by using the magnetron sputtering. Spin coating and magnetron sputtering methods were used to make the Pd thin film layer. The prepared sample was investigated by in-situ XPS, AES, SEM and AFM analysis.

Formation of TiN films by PVD method and the DC and RF sputtering deposition method can be applied, the injected gas to generate plasma ionization rate of the film forming speed is slow away, anything to increase the adhesion between films limitations have. To improve this, to investigate the deposition and ion beam evaporation simultaneously IBAD(Ion beam assisted deposition) when used, Ion beam surface coating material prior to the survey because the surface cleaning effect of a large, high film adhesion can be obtained. In addition, the high vacuum and low temperature, high purity thin film of uniform thickness in the benefits is.

Stainless Steel is being used widely for various purposes due to its good corrosion resistance. There have been many researches to produce colored stainless steel by several methods such as anodizing and ion-plating. In this experiment, we $Ti_XN$(C,O) on the films SUS304, aluminium, and glass substrates with DC magentron sputterinng system made by Leybold Hereus, and strdied the structur, corrsion and pit characture of the TiXN observed by TeM image was black and whink and white columnar hed a very fine(200$\AA$) dense sturcture, and the diffraction resistance at the $3{\times}10_6A/\textrm{cm}^2$ and $10_{10}\times{cm}^2$current density were obtained in the under-stoichiometry $Ti_xN$ compound of Ar/$N_2$(Ar:$N_2$=100:6, titanium-rich compound) and the over-stoichiometry compound of Ar/$N_2$((Ar:$N_2$=60:15) respectively. When the thiness was over 1.64$\mu\textrm{m}$, good pit resistance could be obtained and its improvement was especially affected by perfect surfaceface. Typical TiN anodic polarzation curves of very unstable corrosion were observed by $Ti_xN$ film on the glass and perfect film of 3.28$\mu\textrm{m}$ thickness.

Mo-N based coatings have been studied for enhancing mechanical characteristics of thin films. In the case of Mo-X-N coatings, the microstructure and mechanical properties can be affected by the addition of the third element. In this work, Mo-Cu-N coatings were successfully fabricated with varying the Cu content from 4.5 at% to 31 at% by the co-sputtering method. Thus, properties of the coatings were analyzed by EDS, SEM, XRD, AFM, nano indentation and scratch test techniques. From observed results, MoxN bonds were made in a nitrogen atmosphere and Cu elements were present at grain boundaries. In addition, coatings with the Cu content above 14 at% had a Cu3N peak in the XRD results. Thus, it is suggested that the formation of Cu3N phase affected the microstructure and mechanical properties of Mo-Cu-N coatings. Mechanical properties of Mo-Cu-N coatings were found to be relatively better at Cu content of about 12 at%.

Commercially pure titanium (CP Ti) and Ti-6Al-4V alloys have been widely used for biomedical applications. However, the use of the Ti-6Al-4V alloy in biomaterial is then a subject of controversy because aluminum ions and vanadium oxide have potential detrimental influence on the human body due to vanadium and aluminum. Hence, recent works showed that the synthesis of new Ti-based alloys for implant application involves more biocompatible metallic alloying element, such as, Nb, Hf, Zr and Mo. In particular, Nb and Hf are one of the most effective Ti ${\beta}-stabilizer$ and reducing the elastic modulus. Plasma electrolyte oxidation (PEO) is known as excellent method in the biocompatibility of biomaterial due to quickly coating time and controlled coating condition. The anodized oxide layer and diameter modulation of Ti alloys can be obtained function of improvement of cell adhesion. Manganese(Mn) plays very important roles in essential for normal growth and metabolism of skeletal tissue in vertebrates and can be detected as minor constituents in teeth and bone. Radio frequency(RF) magnetron sputtering in the various PVD methods has high deposition rates, high-purity films, extremely high adhesion of films, and excellent uniform layers for depositing a wide range of materials, including metals, alloys and ceramics like a hydroxyapatite. The aim of this study is to research the Mn coatings on the micro-pore formed Ti-29Nb-xHf alloys by RF-magnetron sputtering for dental applications. Ti-29Nb-xHf (x= 0, 3, 7 and 15wt%, mass fraction) alloys were prepared Ti-29Nb-xHf alloys of containing Hf up from 0 wt% to 15 wt% were melted by using a vacuum furnace. Ti-29Nb-xHf alloys were homogenized for 2 hr at $1050^{\circ}C$. Each alloy was anodized in solution containing typically 0.15 M calcium acetate monohydrate + 0.02 M calcium glycerophosphate at room temperature. A direct current power source was used for the process of anodization. Anodized alloys was prepared using 270V~300V anodization voltage at room. Mn coatings was produced by RF-magnetron sputtering system. RF power of 100W was applied to the target for 1h at room temperature. The microstructure, phase and composition of Mn coated oxide surface of Ti-29Nb-xHf alloys were examined by FE-SEM, EDS, and XRD.
