Spatial analysis of Shoreline change in Northwest coast of Taean Peninsula

  • The coastline influenced naturally and artificially changes dynamically. While the long-term change is influenced by the rise in the surface of the sea and the changes in water level of the rivers, the short-term change is influenced by the tide, earthquake and storm. Also, man-made thoughtless development such as construction of embankment and reclaimed land not considering erosion and deformation of coast has been causes for breaking functions of coast and damages on natural environment. In order to manage coastal environment and resources effectively, In this study is intended to analyze and predict erosion in coastal environment and changes in sedimentation quantitatively by detecting changes in coastal line from data collection for satellite images and aerial LiDAR data. The coastal line in 2007 and 2012 was extracted by manufacturing Digital Surface Model (DSM) with Aviation LiDAR materials. For the coastal line in 2009 and 2010, Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) method was used to extract the KOMPSAT-2 image selected after considering tide level and wave height. The change rate of the coastal line is varied in line with the forms of the observation target but most of topography shows a tendency of being eroded as time goes by. Compared to the relatively monotonous beach of Taean, the gravel and rock has very complex form. Therefore, there are more errors in extraction of coastlines and the combination of transect and shoreline, which affect overall changes. Thus, we think the correction of the anomalies caused by these properties is required in the future research.

해양변사자 신원확인을 위한 해양경찰의 인체유래물 보관사업 모델제시 (Korea Coast Guard's Human Biological Materials Storage Project for Identifying Bodies Recovered from the Sea: A Model Suggestion)

  • 해양경찰은 바다라는 극한 환경에서 임무수행 중 빈번히 사망 실종의 위험에 맞닥뜨린다. 사고 발생 시 신속한 신원확인을 위해 해양경찰연구센터는 해양경찰을 대상으로 DNA를 이용한 신원확인 시스템을 구축하였으며 사체가 발견되지 않을 경우를 대비해 국립묘지 안장이 가능한 장치 또한 마련하였다. 순직 실종 등 대비 신원확인용 인체유래물 보관사업 운영규칙에 따라 인체유래물의 관리, 보관, 폐기, 품질검사가 진행되며 이는 관리위원회의 감시 하에 행해진다. 한반도 해역에서는 매년 700여건의 해양 변사자가 발생하는데 사체가 늦게 발견되어 부패가 심하거나, 일부분만 발견되어 지문 또는 치아로 개인 식별이 불가능할 경우 해양 변사자의 신원확인을 위한 방법이 필요하다. 해양경찰연구센터가 운영중인 '인체유래물 보관사업'을 해양 수산 종사자, 관련 연구자, 해양 레저인에게까지 확대 실행한다면 해양 변사자 신원확인에 큰 도움이 될 것이다.

  • The quantity of heavy metals (As, Cd, Cu, Pb, Zn) contained in marine algae collected in Onsan-myon on the east coast of Korea from March to December 1978 was determined as a part of the environmental base line survey of the Onsan Industrial Base. In general, green algae have a higher Cu content than either brown or red algae, and brown algae have higher As and lower Cu contents, while red algae have a higher Zn content. Significant differences between algal species in either Cd or Pb content were however not found.

한국 동해안의 변화특성 (A Study on Characteristics of Coastline Change in Eastern Coast Korea)

  • This paper concerns the receding of the eastern coastline of Korean peninsula at a macroscopic point of view, the result is as following. 1. Eastern coast is gradually developed from maturity stage to full maturity stage. 2. The coastline recession due to sea level rise is amounted to the receding distance, x=0.045 m per yr. 3. The author proposes another classification from the new view point, which is classified by comparing quantities between river supplying sediment loads, and the littoral drifting due to wave actions. According this, eastern coast is receding(Type Q-A), and we could find it's geomorphological characteristics. 4. The general piofile of eastern coast sand beach is erosional storm profile(Type I) which accompany offshore bar. 5. From the wave measuring data of eastern coast(Hoopo port), I can derive the linear regression line of the exceedance probability of wave height from the log-normal distribution. $z=O. 113+4.335 log_lo H, r=0.983.$ Above equation made it possible to estimate $\omega[=P(H>H_c)]for the effective wave height H_c=2. Om4, 4. Om and their corresponding values are considerable (7.8%, 0.3%) 6. Eastern coastline certainly have the tendency of erosive and receding, owing to the sea level rise, poor sediment source and effective wave actions. It's very desirable to survey coastline evolution for a long time systematically, in order to make more elaborate diagnosis.

L형 수제주변 흐름특성 변화에 대한 실험연구 (Experimental Study on Flow Characteristic of L-type Groyne)

  • 본 연구는 변형수제 중 하나로서 "ㄱ" 모양을 갖는 L형 수제(L-type Groyne)에 대한 수리실험 연구이다. 연구 목적은 수제설계를 위한 기초자료인 수제주변(수로부, 수제역)의 흐름특성을 파악하는 것이다. 이를 위해 수리실험을 통하여 수제설계의 주요 수리특성인 주수로의 유속변화, 흐름중심선의 변화 및 흐름분리영역을 분석하였다. 본 연구에서 흐름중심선은 수로내의 최대유속이 발생되는 유선으로 정의하였으며 흐름분리영역은 본류영역인 주흐름과 수제영역인 재순환영역(recirculation zone)의 경계를 나타낸다. 5가지 수제 팔길이 조건에 대하여 유속을 변화시키면서 수리실험을 수행하였고, LSPIV(Large Scale Particle Image Velocimetry)기법을 적용하여 수제주변 흐름장을 측정 및 분석하였다. 실험결과 주흐름의 유속은 최대 1.5배 증가되는 것으로 나타났으며 수제 팔길이의 영향은 적었다. 흐름중심선의 폭은 수로폭의 $55{\sim}58%$ 구간으로 변화되었으며 흐름중심선과 흐름분리영역은 Froude 수에 큰 변화를 보이지 않는 것으로 나타났다.

  • As a part of the environmental base line survey of the Onsan Industrial Base, Korea, marine algal communities were investigated using the quadrat method in Onsan-myon on the east coast of Korea from March to December of 1978. It was learned that the representative dominat species along the coast in the Onsan area throughout the year are Ulva pertusa, Pachymeniopsis elliptica, and Sargassum thunbergii. Both the number of algal species occurring in the quadrat (50$\times$50cm) and the total coverage were higher in March and September than in June and December. A total of 94 species (1 blue-green, 16 green, 25 brown, and 52 red algae) of marine algae was identified in this study.

A New Abundance Estimate for the Finless Porpoise Neophocaena asiaeorientalis on the West Coast of Korea: An Indication of Population Decline

  • We estimated abundance of the finless porpoise Neophocaena asiaeorientalis in the west coast of Korea in 2011 and compared it to the abundance data estimated by Park et al. (2007). The two researches used same line transect method operated by a vessel, and the study area were divided into the offshore and the inshore regions to assess variations in their abundance. In offshore regions population density of finless porpoises was $0.122ind./km^2$, which was lower than $0.565ind./km^2$ estimated in 2004. In inshore regions the population density was $0.151ind./km^2$, which was much lower than $0.638ind./km^2$ estimated in 2005. Thus, we estimate that the population densities of the finless porpoises in both the offshore and the inshore regions of the west coast of Korea has decreased by approximately 70% between 2004/2005 and 2011.

MTSAT Image Navigation 알고리즘을 이용한 FY-2C S-VISSR2.0 Navigation (FY-2C S-VISSR2.0 Navigation by MTSAT Image Navigation)

  • FY-2C 위성은 2004년 10월 발사되어 동경 105도 에 서 운영 중인 중국의 정지 궤도 기상위성 이며 관측 영상은 한반도 지역을 포함하고 있다. 현재 FY-2C S-VISSR2.0[l]에 대한 Navigation 알고리즘이 공개되어 있지 않으며,Navigation을 위하여 S-VISSR2.0에 포함되어 있는 Simplified Mapping Block 정보를 사용하여야 한다. Simplified Mapping Block은 5도 간격의 정보만을 제 공하므로 관측 지 역 의 모든 좌표에 대한 Navigation 정보를 얻기 위해서는 보간볍을 사용하여야 한다. 그러나 보간법은 기준 점에서 멀어질수록 오차가 크게 나타날 수 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 모든 좌표에 대한 Navigation 정보를 얻을 수 있는 MTSAT Image Navigation 알고리즘을 FY-2C S-VISSR2.0에 적용하여 Simplified Mapping Block과의 차이를 분석하였다. 분석 방법은 Simplified Mapping Block과 MTSAT Image Navigation[2] 알고리즘을 5도 간격의 격자 점(위경도)에서 Column 및 Line 값 비교, Geo-location된 영상의 품질 비교,WDB2 Map Data의 Coast Line과의 비교를 수행하였다. 분석 결과 격자 점에서의 Column, Line 값은 0.5 이내의 차이 값을 나타내었다. 그리고 Geo-location된 영상 비교에서는 격자 점 주변에서 영상의 차이가 없으나 격자 점에서 멸어질수록 영상의 품질은 MTSAT Image Navigation 알고리즘으로 생성한 영상이 더 우수하였다. WDB2 Map Data의 Coast Line과의 비교에서 오차는 동일하게 발생하였으며,영상의 Column 축에 대한 오차는 평균 1.847 Pixel, 최대 6 Pixel, 최소 oPixel 이며, Line 축에 대한 오차는 평균 0.135 Pixel, 최대 4 Pixel, 최소 0 Pixel을 나타내었다.

  • Recently construction of new transmission line is getting harder because of social hostility to transmission tower. Howevere, load is converged in metropolitan area and power plants near this area are old and life of generator will end soon. Therefore, power to supply load in this area should be transmitted from east coast area and southern area. For these reasons, securement of transmission capacity without new transmission line construction is important. In this paper, effect of one circuit AC line change to DC transmission at the same transmission tower on the system available transfer capacity is analyzed.

A Study on Determining the Priority of Supervising Mooring Line while 125K LNG Moss Type Discharging at Pyeong Taek Gas Terminal

  • The Port of Pyeong Taek is located on the west coast, meaning that the difference between the rise and fall of tide is great (flood tide 1.8 to 2.9 knots, ebb tide 1.6 to 2.9 knots). Due to mainly N~NW'ly strong winds & high waves during winter, navigating as well as loading & discharging vessels must focus on cargo handling. The strong tidal and wind forces in the Port of Pyeong Taek can push an LNG carrier away from its berth, which will end up causing forced disconnection between the vessel's cargo line and shore-side loading arm. The primary consequence of this disconnection will be LNG leakage, which will lead to tremendous physical damage to the hull and shore-side equipment. In this study, the 125K LNG Moss Type ship docked at No. 1 Pier of the Pyeong Taek is observed, and the tension of the mooring line during cargo handling is calculated using a combination of wind and waves to determine effective mooring line and mooring line priority management. As a result if the wind direction is $90^{\circ}$ to the left and right of the bow, it was found that line monitoring should be performed bearing special attention to the Fore Spring Line, Fore Breast Line, and Aft Spring Line.
