Characteristics of Wintering Habitat use by Black-tailed Gulls (Larus crassirostris) on the West Coast of Korea

  • This study used a GPS tracker to determine characteristics of wintering habitat use by black-tailed gulls on the west coast of Korea. Results of this study showed a southward movement in December and a northward movement in March. The wintering habitat was confirmed to include the southwest coastal island area (Group 1), the inland coastal area (Group 2), and China (Group 3). The wintering home range was the narrowest in October and the widest in December. Home range of Group 1 was increased from November, showing the maximum in December, decreased in February, and then tended to increase again in March. Group 2 showed the widest home range in November and a narrow range of home range from December. Home range of Group 3 showed a mixed pattern of group 1 and group 2. The flight rate was the lowest in January and the highest in March. Day and night flight rates showed significant differences by month. This study identified wintering characteristics of the West Coast population of black-tailed gulls on the West Coast, including their wintering areas, migration periods, and use patterns. These wintering characteristics of black-tailed gull in the west coast area are thought to be affected by environmental factors (such as food resources and fishing activities) and geographical characteristics of the West Coast where many islands are distributed.

  • 극저온 추진제 탱크 속에서 가압 가스는 열손실에 의해 수축하고 추진제는 기화한다. 재 점화가 있는 추진기관의 경우 무추력 비행구간에서 극저온 추진제가 가압가스와 넓은 표면적으로 접촉하기 때문에 이러한 현상이 증대된다. 가압 가스량을 산정함에 있어 이러한 탱크 내부 열 물질 전달 현상을 고려하여야 한다. 무추력 비행구간에서 열 물질 전달 준 평형상태에 도달한다는 가정 하에 평형압력 계산절차를 제시하였다. 이를 적용하여 Falcon-1 발사체 2단에 탑재된 헬륨량을 산정하였다.

  • 극저온 추진제 탱크 속에서 가압 가스는 열손실에 의해 수축하고 추진제는 기화한다. 재 점화가 있는 추진기관의 경우 무추력 비행구간에서 극저온 추진제가 가압가스와 넓은 표면적으로 접촉하기 때문에 이러한 현상이 증대된다. 가압 가스량을 산정함에 있어 이러한 탱크 내부 열 물질 전달 현상을 고려하여야 한다. 무추력 비행구간에서 열 물질 전달 준 평형상태에 도달한다는 가정 하에 평형압력 계산절차를 제시하였다. 이를 적용하여 Falcon-1 발사체 2단에 탑재된 헬륨량을 산정하였다.

  • 국가항공기는 국제민간항공협약의 적용 예외 대상이지만 각 국가는 타당한 고려 (due regard)를 통해 민간항공기의 안전을 확보해야 한다. 이에 따라 우리나라 항공안전법도 국가항공기는 법의 적용을 예외로 하고 있으나 해양경찰 항공기는 5개 조항에 대하여 법의 적용을 받도록 입법되었다. 해양경찰 항공기가 국제법과 국내법의 일부 조항의 적용하에 운용됨에 따라 서해상 공해인 잠정조치수역 상공 비행시 중국 민간항공관제기구로부터 비행절차에 대한 통제를 요구받게 된다. 중국의 이러한 요구는 해양경찰 항공기 본연의 임무인 국민의 안전을 보호하는 역할을 수행하는데 커다란 제한요소가 되고 있기에, 본 연구를 통해 범 국가적 차원에서 이러한 문제점을 해결할 수 있는 대안을 제시하였다.

  • In this paper, we analyze the infrared feature for the small coast targets according to the surrounding environment for autonomous flight device equipped with an infrared imaging sensor and we propose Cross Duality of Neural Network (CR-DuNN) method which can classify the target and clutter in coastal environment. In coastal environment, there are various property according to diverse change of air temperature, sea temperature, deferent seasons. And small coast target have various infrared feature according to diverse change of environment. In this various environment, it is very important thing that we analyze and classify targets from the clutters to improve target detection accuracy. Thus, we propose infrared feature learning algorithm through LSTM neural network and also propose CR-DuNN algorithm that integrate LSTM prediction network with Du-CNN classification network to classify targets from the clutters.

한국과 아시아 지역 저가 항공사 여승무원의 유니폼 디자인 비교 분석 (Comparative analysis on uniform designs of female flight attendant among low cost carriers in South Korea and Asian region)

  • This work aims at analyzing the comparative feature about female flight attendant uniform designs of Korean and Asian region low cost carriers and providing some basic materials for development of these airline companies. As a research method, examinations were carried out on attendant's uniform both theoretically and empirically. Comparison of uniforms was made among the five Korean carriers and ten typical Asian carriers for empirical research. Results showed the followings. First, all Korean low cost carriers were characterized as formal style except Jin Air. Unlike this, Asian low cost carriers appeared as diverse including formal, semi formal, and casual styles with a uniquely differentiated image. Second, all carriers applied their own symbolic color to their uniform. Third, logo or symbol was adopted as a pattern on scarf in the two Korean companies but it didn't take effect practically. For those Asian carriers, embroidery was used on jacket, jumper and collar. They utilized even a merchandising character to put emphasis on airline image. Fourth, diverse petty items with a decorative effect were used in the case of Korean low cost carriers. In the changing period of uniform, nothing much was changed and remained almost the same as before. Those in the Asian region were characterized with the smallest number of items and the preclusion of decorative add-ons on uniform.

레이더 위치에 따른 탄도미사일의 RCS 특성 (RCS of Ballistic Missile Based on Radar Position)

  • 탄도미사일은 속도가 빠르고 발사지점에서 목표지점까지 비행시간이 짧아 탐지/추적 및 요격에 많은 제한이 있다. 탄도미사일의 요격 성공률을 높이기 위해서는 발사 이후 조기에 발견하여 비행 항적을 오랫동안 추적하는 것이 중요하다. 레이더로 표적을 탐지할 때 중요한 파라미터는 표적의 Radar Cross Section(RCS) 인데, 탄도미사일이 비행하는 궤적 동안 관측 방향에 따라 RCS 값이 크게 변화한다. 본 논문에서는 북한 동해안에서 우리나라로 탄도미사일이 발사되었을 경우를 가정하여 육상 특정 지점에서와 동해상 특정 해역에 전개한 함정에서 각각 미사일을 관측하였을 때 미사일의 RCS 특성을 비교 분석 하였다.

Local Movement of Shorebirds for Roosting between Ganghwa and Yeongjong Island in the West Coast of Korea

  • Movement of shorebirds for roosting was studied to find their response to insufficient roosting area on Ganghwa Island. It was taken from two kinds of aspects of population fluctuation and direct observation of movement from March to October in 2002. Based on the data from their weekly fluctuation and flight observation, shorebirds on Ganghwa Island moved to roosts located far away. Shorebirds feeding at southern Ganghwa Island moved to Yeongjong Island for roosting during the spring tide period. High tide count showed that the number of shorebirds on Yeongjong Island increased strikingly, while the number of birds on Ganghwa Island decreased. As the tide level increased, the number of shorebirds on Ganghwa Island decreased in the fall migrating season (r$_{s}$= -0.81, p<0.001), whereas that on Yeongjong Island was not correlated significantly. Direct observation showed that some of the birds on the upper tidal zone of Ganghwa Island moved directly to the northern mudflat of Yeongjong Island during the flowing tide or dropped by flat zone on Seondu-ri. Insufficient coastal wetlands on Ganghwa Island induced them to move away from the island for roosting place and to endure costly flight energy expenditure. The development of wetlands on the southern Yeongjong Island would make them have no place available to roosts. Therefore this study proposes that shorebird roosts on Ganghwa Island should be created to conserve their habitat.t.

서해안 인접공항의 저고도 항공기상 정확도 연구 (A Study on Accuracy of Meteorological Information for Low Altitude Aerospace around the Airport on the West Coast)

  • This study is to evaluate the accuracy of the meteorological information provided for the aircraft operating at low altitude. At first, it is necessary to identify crucial elements of weather information closely related to flight safety during low altitude flights. The study conducted a survey of pilots of low altitude aircraft, divided into pre-flight and in-flight phases, and reached an opinion that wind direction, wind speed, cloud coverage and ceiling and visibility are important items. Related to these items, we compared and calculated the accuracy of TAFs and METARs from Taean Airfield, Seosan Airport and Gunsan Airport because of their high number of domestic low-altitude flights. Accuracy analysis evaluated the accuracy of two numerical variables, Mean Absolute Error(MAE) and Root Mean Square Error(RMSE), and the cloud coverage which is categorical variable was calculated and compared by accuracy. For numeric variables, one-way ANOVA, which is a parameter-test, was approached to identify differences between actual forecast values and observations based on absolute errors for each item derived from the results of MAE and RMSE accuracy analyses. To determine the satisfaction of both normality assumptions and equivalence variability assumptions, the Shapiro-Wilk test was performed to verify that they do not have a normality distribution for numerical variables, and for the non-parametric test, Kruscal-Wallis test was conducted to determine whether or not they are satisfied.

AIS 탑재체 운영을 위한 위성탑재소프트웨어 설계 및 구현 (Satellite Software Design and Implementation for AIS Payload Operation)

  • AIS(Automatic Identification System)는 VHF 통신 대역을 이용하여 선박의 속도, 위치 및 항행정보를 AIS를 설치한 다른 선박 및 해안 기지국이 공유하는 근거리 해상 교통관리 시스템이다. 기존의 시스템은 AIS 신호를 수집하는 기지국이 해안 및 섬에 위치하였기 때문에 선박 정보를 획득하는데 제한적이었다. 이런 문제점을 해결하기 위해 저궤도 위성에 AIS 탑재체를 장착하여 넓은 범위의 선박 정보를 획득할 수 있다. 현재 저궤도 위성에 장착되는 AIS 탑재체는 UART를 통해 위성탑재컴퓨터와 연결되고, 위성탑재소프트웨어가 이를 제어하여 운영된다. 위성탑재소프트웨어는 지상에서 전송한 Command를 AIS 탑재체로 전달해야 하고, AIS 탑재체로부터 전송되는 Response, OBP, OGP 데이터를 효율적으로 관리하여 지상으로 내려 보내야 한다. 이에 본 논문에서는 AIS 탑재체 운영을 위한 위성탑재소프트웨어의 설계 및 검증 내용에 대해 기술한다.
