Complicated and expensive seawater desalination technology is a big challenge in boron removal process. Conventional seawater desalination process of coagulation utilized for pre-treatment is difficult to remove boron. Boron can be removed more effectively in Reverse Osmosis (RO) process than any other processes. In this study, a coagulant with the name Mineral Cluster was examined its boron removal ability. Boron removal efficiency of Mineral Cluster depended on pH value and Mineral Cluster dosage. Desalination process combines the pre-treatment process with Mineral cluster diluted at the ratio of 1:2500 and the RO membrane process. The original sea water could be desalinated to drinking water quality, 1 mg/L, without any pH adjustments. Therefore, if the Mineral cluster is added without any other chemicals for adjusting pH, the desalination process would be much safer, efficient and economical.
This study is to develop the pretreatment for the excess and digested sludge by electro-coagulation and dewatering. Electrocoagulation is applied to excess and digested sludge before transferring to the piston type press for dewatering. Piston type filter press as a laboratory scale plant was used to estimate the dewaterability. MMD of excess sludge was increased from initial diameter of particles(34.16 ${\mu}m$) to the 87%(64.01 ${\mu}m$) after electrocoagulation. AI electrode is more effective than Fe electrode for the dewaterability of excess sludge. Electrodewatering after electrocoagulation as pretreatment makes the water content of sludge cake $50{\sim}60$ wt%.
Objectives: This research was investigated to find out the effect of the anticoagulant Perillae folium extract. Methods: To examine an active effect of anticoagulation in Perillae folium extract, the study measured Prothrombin time(PT) and activated partial thromboplastin time(APTT) of human plasma in vitro and measured bleeding time and arterio-venous shunt model in rats in vivo. Results: Bleeding time of Perillae folium extract in vivo had a significant increase 1.6 times and thrombus weight of Perillae folium extract had a significant reduction of thrombus weight as 68%. Perillae folium extract had an effect of anticoagulation by operating on extrinsic pathway factor II, V, VII, X and intrinsic pathway factor VIII, IX, X, VI, VII in the coagulation system. Conclusions: Considering the above mentioned results, it is judged that a Perillae folium extract has a control effect of thrombus creation.
The large particles of suspended matter in raw water can be removed by allowing them to settle out in a presedimentation basin. But there are smaller particles in almost all surface water and some groundwater that will not settle out within a reasonable time without some help to accelerate the process, In the coagulation and flocculation processes, nonsettleable solids are converted into large and heavier settleable solids by physical-chemical changes broght about by adding and mixing coagulant chemicals into the raw water. The object of this research was to improve corrective injection method for low dissolution liquid in the water treatment plant. A sort of chemical feed equipment are diaphram pump, flow control in combined magnetic flowmeter md control valve, roto dipper wheel system and tube pump. Particularly low dissolution liquid (Calcium Hydroxide) put in a bit by feed equipment, tube pump is very useful method for corrective injection method in the water treatment plant.
The phospholipid-based MPCE(2-Methacryloxyethyl Phosphoryl Chlorine) copolymer was mixed with wet polyurethane for coating of nylon fabrics. The substitution rate of water in coagulation bath with DMF was changed under control of the size of formed hydrophilic microporous cell enable to manufacture excellent breathable, anti-bacterial and moisture control fabrics. Biocompatible property, vapor permeability, hydrostatic pressure, moisture management and anti-bacterial property were investigated for treated nylon fabrics. In result, increased moisture transmission rates, decreased water resistance and outstanding moisture control property could be confirmed by enhanced hydrophilicity of wet-coated nylon fabric with MPCE copolymer.
The various pretreatment processes were evaluated to remove organic pollutants of weathered oil contaminated seawater(WOCS) for reverse osmosis desalination process, Biodegradation, coagulation, ultrafiltration, advanced oxidation processes and granular activated carbon filtration were used to evaluate the potential of organic pollutants removal in WOCS. Dissolved Organic Carbon(DOC) was almost not removed by biodegradation in WOCS. DOC was removed by 25% and 10% with the addition of $FeCl_3$ and PAC in WOCS, respectively. The removal efficiency using ultrafiltration(WOCS 500) was about 20% of DOC and 40% of $E_{260}$, respectively. In AOP application of WOCS, the removal of organic materials was improved up to 60% by the combination of $UV/O_3$ compared to UV process. However, 98% of DOC in woes could be removed by granular activated carbon filtration. It is revealed that activated carbon filtration is the best process for the pretratment of DOC removal.
The application of flexo printed ONP and OCC leads to brightness decrease of deinked stock in ONP recycling system. The largest problems are due to accumulation of flexo ink & introduction of brown fibers. All these are emphasized by variations in the amount of flexo printed ONP and OCC in recovered ONP stock. Most of the brightness problems caused by flexo ink can be helped and solved by applying a proper polyelectrolytes as coagulation agent and flocculation agent. This requires exact evaluation of sedimentation or dissolved air flotation potentials of flexo ink and polyelectrolytes. Effect of bleaching chemical (H2O2) addition level on the increase of brightness of OCC included stock has been investigated by lab scale test.
Effect of addition of oil , sucrose, dextrin and oil-sucrose (1 : 1 w/w) mixture on SPI tofu was investigated. The characteristics measured were yield , water holding capacity , textural and organoleptic properties. THe SPI tofufwas prepared by coagulation of soyprotein isolate (SP) suspensino by CaCl$_2$ , CaSo$_4$ an dGDL , followed by compression . Addition of oil to SPI increased the tofu yield and water holding capacity, particulary for those tofu coagulated by CaCl$_2$. Eventhough dextrin addition decreased the yield, it showed the most improving effect on water holding capacity. The tofu prepared by CaSO$_4$coagulant resulted highest in yield and water holding capacity. Hardness was found to be decreased as the oil, sucrose and dextrin added more and adhesiveness, cohesiveness and guminess were also affected. The sensory evaluation showed the SPI tofu prepared by CaSO$_4$ and 10% addition of oil and sucrose mixture to be realtively high in hardness , elasticity and uniformity of the texture.
This study investigated improvement to sludge dewaterability and coagulation for sewage treatment plant sludge by using sodium hypochlorite solution (NaOCl), ferric sulfate [$Fe_2(SO_4)_3$] and zeolite. The specific resistance to filtration(SRF), chloride, pH and turbidity were used to evaluate the sludge dewatering behaviors. The results of study were as follows: By varying the amount of NaOCl added the optimum result in terms of enhancement for pretreatment occurred when 34 mg/l of NaOCl was injected. When the total solids concentration of the sludge was 10,000 mg/l, the optimum ferric sulfate dosage for the sludge dewaterability was 150 mg/l and the corresponding SRF was $1.7{\times}10^7sec^2/g$. It was observed that injecting zeolite into sludge was effective in improving the dewaterability of sludge.
The plasmin activity of euglobulin fraction treated with earthworm extract(EWE) increased concentration dependently when EWE(0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 mg each) were added to normal plasma. It was shown that lumbrokinase in EWE may be moved to euglobulin fraction and activated plasminogen. Also anticoagulation and fibbrinolysis were studied when EWE(7.5, 30 and 120 mg/kg) were added to rat model. Prothrombin time (PT) were 19.7${\pm}$ 3.8, 22.5${\pm}$ 2.5 and 24.5${\pm}$ 5.0sec. activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) were 25.7${\pm}$ 5.9, 28.7${\pm}$ 5.2 and 36.5${\pm}$ 19.1 sec. After 15 days, the production of D-dimer were 242.3${\pm}$ 47.4, 250.0${\pm}$ 11.9 and 205.8${\pm}$ 12.2mg/ml plasma, respectively. These data showed that EWE acted on the coagulation factor of intrinsic and extrinsic system.
