Thermal shock or overheating of WGS catalyst for SEWGS system during hydrogen pre-treatment can cause reactivity decay of the catalyst. To select appropriate pre-treatment condition, temperature profiles of catalyst bed (or outside fluidized particle bed of bed insert) during pre-treatment were measured and then CO conversions of those catalysts during WGS reaction were also measured and compared. Drastic overheating of catalyst took place when we reduce catalyst at fixed bed condition and these catalysts showed low CO conversion during WGS reaction. On the contrary, there was no overheating of catalyst at fluidized bed condition not only physical mixing case but also bed insert case. Spring type bed insert showed acceptable CO conversion even at low WGS content. Consequently, feasibility of high CO conversion without decay of reactivity of catalyst and holding the WGS catalyst inside the SEWGS reactor as tablet shape were confirmed using spring type bed insert.

The final energy consumption in the building sector in Korea represents almost 20% of the total energy consumption. Besides, Space heating and hot water generation in Korea are based on fossil fuels, with a serious environmental impact. This study describes thermal performance of heating demonstration system using close-loop ground source heat pump installed at Korean minjok leadership academy. The results of the experimental study, it retrieve the investment cost for 3years 8months and reduction amount of $CO_2$are 293,900 $kgCO_2$.
This study aim at demonstrating the environmental performance of freight transport of the rail and road mode through an indicator of embodied energy and $CO_2$ emissions. Using the concept of LCA, the scope of evaluation includes energy production, supply chain activity and operation. The results of embodied energy and $CO_2$ emissions are normalized by means of traffic volume. The results shown that embodied $CO_2$ emissions road mode is 607.07 $gCO_2-eq./tkm$ and 284.67 $gCO_2-eq./tkm$ for road and rail mode, respectively. This number reveals that road mode is 2.1 times larger than rail mode. The results also indicate that the main contribution of $CO_2$ emission from road mode is in the operation stage, which accounts for 70%; however, it is the construction and supply chain stage that accounts for over 50% of the emission of rail mode.
A highly $CO_2$ tolerant microalga, Chlorella KR-1, has been isolated and used to fix $CO_2$ from actual flue gas. Growth of Chlorella KR-1 with the supply of flue gas from a liquified natural gas boiler was comparable to that obtained with 10% $CO_2$. Chlorella KR-1 produced from $CO_2$ fixation using the flue has about 50% crude protein with balanced amino acid profiles. Toxicity was not detected when the microalga was used as a feedstuff for chicks. These results indicate that the KR-1 cells could be a favorable protein source for poultry.

CO2 reduction is the most urgent issue the world is facing. So, there should be a measure to reduce the CO2 emission in construction industry which has more released CO2 gas than other industries. CO2 emission of building depend on using energy. Then efficient energy use process working efficiently at CO2 reduction. Therefore In this study, author find the technical possibility of saving the building energy using the PCM which is able to control heat, storage heat and potential heat. So, it considered that apply to floor heating type which is major heating system of living space in Korea. And evaluate the Using possibility.

In order to reduce dependence on the fossil fuels and $CO_2$ gas emission in farming activities, the government has pushed ahead with making the self-sufficiency of farming energy up 40% level in green villages. The objectives of this study are to survey the energy consumption of horticultural facilities or agricultural machineries, and to analyze the reduced $CO_2$ gas emission level from fossil fuel to bio-diesel fuel. For the implement of this study, it is necessary to analyze the energy consumption level in the various sector of farming activities, and available renewable energy sources should be selected. Annual total $CO_2$ gas emission in the tillage farming sector was analyzed as $5,667,258\;t-CO_2$ and that in the horticultural facilities occupied $4,932,607\;t-CO_2$, while the $CO_2$ gas emission level of diesel fuel was $3,105,707\;t-CO_2$, and that of the heavy oil showed $1,370,578\;t-CO_2$. The average $CO_2$ gas emission level of horticultural facilities in the country was analyzed as $29,418\;t-CO_2/ha$. Among the total energy consumption of agricultural machineries, tractor used 284,763kL, power tiller spent 221,314 kL, grain drier consumed 145,524kL and combine tractor expend 72,537kL. From the comparison of $CO_2$ gas emission level between fossil fuel and bio-diesel fuel for the horticultural facilities or agricultural machinery in G-City, Jeonbuk Province, the $CO_2$ gas emission level can be reduced by 7% through replacing the fuel from fossil to biodiesel.
Relatively high indoor CO2 concentration (>1,000 ppm) has a negative impact on human health. In this work, indoor CO2 adsorbent was developed by impregnating KOH or K2CO3 on commercial activated carbon, named as KOH/AC and K2CO3/AC. Commercial activated carbon (AC) showed relatively high BET surface area (929 m2/g) whereas KOH/AC and K2CO3/AC presented lower BET surface area of 13.6 m2/g and 289 m2/g. Two experimental methods of TGA (2,000 ppmCO2, weight basis) and chamber test (initial concentration: 2,000 ppmCO2, CO2 IR analyzer) were used to investigate the adsorption capacity. KOH/AC and K2CO3/AC exhibited similar adsorption capacities (145~150 mgCO2/g), higher than K2CO3/Al+Si supports adsorbent (84.1 mgCO2/gsample). Similarly, chamber test also showed similar trend. Both KOH/AC and K2CO3/AC represented higher adsorption capacities (KOH/AC: 93.5 mgCO2/g K2CO3/AC: 94.5 mgCO2/gsample) K2CO3/Al+Si supports. This is due to the KOH or K2CO3 impregnation increased alkaline active sites (chemical adsorption), which is beneficial for CO2 adsorption. In addition, the regeneration test results showed both K-based adsorbents pose a good regeneration and reusability. Finally, the current study suggested that both KOH/AC and K2CO3/AC have a great potential to be used as CO2 adsorbent for indoor CO2 adsorption.
We reported compositional separation(CS) into Co-enriched and Cri-enriched components inside the grains of Co-Cr based thin films prepared by rf sputtering. CS strongly depends on the sputtering conditions of substrate temperature and target composition. Tuning the microstructure of the Co-Cr films is important in order to employ the CS for high-density magnetic recording. We investigated the origin of CS from thermodynamic viewpoint. We employ a spinodal decomposition-like model to describe the origin of the CS in Co-Cr films. We consider the total free energy of the Co-Cr films as the sum of several free energies of; 1) thermodynamic mixing entropy of a binary solid solution, 2) magnetic ordering interaction(MOI) energy below the Curie temperature, and 3) excess interaction energy(XS) caused by the sputtering process as a function of temperature and composition. Those energies distorted the total free energy like the spinodal decomposition and caused the compositionally separated fine microstructure inside the grains. If the second derivative of the total free energy with respect to Cr composition becomes negative at a given substrate temperature, we may observe a metastable compositional separation inside the Co-Cr alloy films. We expect to exploit the microstructure of CS for ultra-high density magnetic recording.
The supercritical $CO_2$ Brayton cycle energy conversion system is presented as a promising alternative to the present Rankine cycle. The principal advantage of the S-$CO_2$ gas is a good efficiency at a modest temperature and a compact size of its components. The S-$CO_2$ Brayton cycle coupled to a SFR also excludes the possibilities of a SWR (Sodium-Water Reaction) which is a major safety-related event, so that the safety of a SFR can be improved. KAERI is conducting a feasibility study for the supercritical carbon dioxide (S-$CO_2$) Brayton cycle power conversion system coupled to KALIMER(Korea Advanced LIquid MEtal Reactor). The purpose of this research is to develop S-$CO_2$ Brayton cycle energy conversion systems and evaluate their performance when they are coupled to advanced nuclear reactor concepts of the type under investigation in the Generation IV Nuclear Energy Systems. This paper contains the research overview of the S-$CO_2$ Brayton cycle coupled to KALIMER-600 as an alternative energy conversion system.
