The index of energy intensity(energy/GDP) has been a primary policy concern since it can clarify industry sectors which use energy intensively and generate $CO_2$ emission heavily. Although energy intensity index may be suitable for estimating $CO_2$ emission from an isolated industry sector, we need an index for induced $CO_2$ emission since industrial activities are interconnected in terms of input and output. By employing Environmental Input-Output Table 2000, this paper analyses the flow of energy demand and pollutants after first estimating an induced $CO_2$ emissions from various industrial sectors and economic activities. The paper reports higher induced $CO_2$ emissions from industry sectors with larger energy intensity since they produces goods or services retaining relatively considerable environmental load. Furthermore, it is shown that environmental load and $CO_2$ emissions in overall economy are likely increasing when the products of energy intensive industrial sector is used as inputs for less intensive sectors' production process. The result suggests we need consistent policy efforts to reduce energy intensity to lower $CO_2$ emissions.
Energy conversion to renewable energy is being promoted to solve the recently serious environmental pollution problem. Solar energy is one of the promising natural renewable energy sources. Compared to other energy sources, it is receiving great attention because it has less ecological impact and is sustainable. It is important to predict power generation at a future time in order to maximize the output of solar energy and ensure the stability and variability of power. In this paper, solar power generation data and sensor data were used. Using the PCC(Pearson Correlation Coefficient) analysis method, factors with a large correlation with power generation were derived and applied to the GAM(Generalized Additive Model). And the prediction accuracy of the power generation prediction model was judged. It aims to derive efficient solar power generation in the future and improve power generation performance.

The main purpose of this paper is to suggest opportunities for reducing $CO_2$ emission in energy conversion of a vehicle, focused on auxiliary energy improvement in the automotive field. As part of worldwide efforts to curb global warming and to protect the domestic industry as trade barriers, many countries have set goals to regulate greenhouse gas emissions. As an example, new $CO_2$ emission regulation in EU was expected to go into effect strictly in 2020. Therefore, global car-makers need to establish strategic responsiveness of the regulations. This paper shows $CO_2$ economic value by using the correct interpretation of the relevant laws and regulations. The $CO_2$ value analyzed using quantitative figures leads to the possibility of auxiliary(accessories, HVAC, electric apparatus etc.) technology for improving fuel economy. As a result, this study generalizes the meaning of electric power saving for each driving mode by auxiliary energy improvement.

The high energy penalty in amine-based post-combustion CO2 capture process is hampering its industrial scale application. An advanced process is designed by intensive heat integration within the conventional process to reduce the stripper duty. The study presents the technical feasibility for stripper duty reduction by intensive heat integration in CO2 capture process. A rigorous rate-based model has been used in Aspen Plus® to simulate conventional and advanced process for a 300 MW coal-based power plant. Several design and operational parameters like split ratio, stripper inter-heater location and flowrate were studied to find the optimum values. The results show that advanced configuration with heat integration can reduces the stripper heat by 14%.

Effects of temperature, pressure, and gas residence time on methane combustion characteristics of mass produced oxygen carrier particle (OCN706-1100) were investigated in a pressurized fluidized bed reactor using methane and air as reactants for reduction and oxidation, respectively. The oxygen carrier showed high fuel conversion, high $CO_2$ selectivity, and low CO concentration at reduction condition and very low NO emission at oxidation condition. Moreover OCN706-1100 particle showed good regeneration ability during successive reduction-oxidation cyclic tests up to the 10th cycle. Fuel conversion and $CO_2$ selectivity decreased and CO emission increased as temperature increased. These results can be explained by trend of calculated equilibrium CO concentration. However, $CO_2$ selectivity increased as pressure increased and fuel conversion increased as gas residence time increased.

To enhance the performance of SEWGS system by holding the WGS catalyst in a SEWGS reactor using bed inserts, effect of bed insert geometry on CO conversion of WGS catalyst was measured and investigated. Small scale fluidized bed reactor was used as experimental apparatus and tablet shaped WGS catalyst and sand particle were used as bed materials. The cylinder type and the spring type bed inserts were used to hold the WGS catalysts. The CO conversion of WGS catalyst with the change of steam/CO ratio was determined based on the exit gas analysis. Moreover, gas flow direction was confirmed by bed pressure drop measurement for each case. The measured CO conversion using the bed inserts showed high value comparable to previous results even though at low catalyst content. Most of input gas flowed through the bed center side when we charged tablet type catalyst into the cylinder type bed insert and this can cause low $CO_2$ capture efficiency because the possibility of contact between input gas and $CO_2$ absorbent is low in this case. However, the spring type bed insert showed good reactivity and good distribution of gas, and therefore, the spring type bed insert was selected as the best bed insert for SEWGS process.
This paper analyzes the factors of renewable energy consumption in Korea, China and Japan. We consider renewable energy consumption per capita as dependent variable, GDP per capita, $CO_2$ emissions per capita and real oil prices as independent variables. To analyze this model, this paper uses three econometric methods such as OLS, fixed effect model and panel GLS, utilizing data from 1990 to 2006 in Korea, China and Japan. According to the results by OLS for each country, an increase in GDP per capita or $CO_2$ emissions per capita or oil prices leads to an increase in renewable energy consumption. According to the results by fixed effect model, an increase in GDP per capita or $CO_2$ emissions per capita leads to an increase in renewable energy consumption. And real oil prices do not have a significant impacts on this model. According to the results by panel GLS, an increase in real GDP per capita as a proxy of income leads to an increase renewable energy consumption. And both $CO_2$ emissions per capita and real oil prices do not correlated closely with renewable energy consumption. Thus oil is not substituted to renewable energy in Northeast asian countries.

We investigated the influences of cobalt coating deposited by DC electroplating on the ferritic stainless steel, STS 430, as a protective layer on a metallic interconnect for SOFC applications. Cobalt coated STS 430 revealed a uniform and denser-packing oxide surface and a reduced growth rate of $Cr_2O_3$ scales after oxidation at $800^{\circ}C$in air. Cobalt coating layer was oxidized to $CoCo_2O_4$ and Co containing mixed oxide spinels such as $Co_2CrO_4$, $CoCr_2O_4$, and $CoCrFeO_4$. The area specific resistance value of Co coated sample was $0.020\;{\Omega}cm^2$ lower than that of uncoated at $800^{\circ}C$ in air during 500 h. After 1000 h oxidation, cobalt oxide coating layer suppressed chromium outward diffusion.
