습식 분류상 가스화장치를 이용한 중질잔사유(Vacuum Residue)의 가스화 특성연구 (Experimental Study on the Characteristics of Vacuum Residue Gasification in an Entrained-flow Gasifier)

  • 우리나라 5개 정유사에서 일간 생산되는 중질잔사유 (Vacuum Residue)량은 약 200.000 B/d이며, 일부는 Asphalt 또는 Sulfur fuel oil, 기타 탈황공정(RHD) 등에서 upgrading 되고 있다. 중질잔사유는 유황 및 중금속 물질의 함유량이 높아 가스화를 통한 효율적인 이용이 요구되고 있으며, 최근들어 효율적인 중질잔사유의 사용을 위하여 SK정유와 LG Caltex에서 435~500 MWe IGCC 발전소 및 수소 제조공정을 위한 타당성 조사를 한 바 있다. 현재 한국에너지기술연구원에서는 습식분류상 가스화장치를 이용하여 중질잔사유가스화 특성에 관한 연구를 수행하고 있다. 실험은 반응온도: 1,100~1,25$0^{\circ}C$, 반응압력: 1~6 kg/$\textrm{cm}^2$G, oxygen/V.R ratio: 0.8~0.9 and steam/V.R ratio: 0.4~0.5를 유지하며 수행되었으며, 실험을 통해 합성가스(CO+H$_2$) 조성 : 85~93%, 생성가스 유량: 50~110 Nm$^3$/hr. 발열량: 2,300~3,000 k㎈/Nm$^3$, 탄소전환율: 65~92 및 냉가스효율: 60~70%를 얻을 수 있었다. 아울러, 평형모델을 이용하여 중질잔사유가스화 공정을 모형화하였으며 계산결과를 실험결과와 비교하여 모델의 타당성을 검토하였다.

음식쓰레기의 실험실 규모 퇴비화에서 셀룰로스 분해에 대한 퇴비 식종효과 (The Compost Inoculation Effect on the Cellulose Degradation in Bench-scale Composting of Food Waste and Paper Mixture)

  • 음식 쓰레기와 종이류의 혼합퇴비화에서 퇴비 식종 효과는 온도 변화, pH, 이산화탄소 발생량, 암모니아 발생 속도 등으로 판단하여 볼 때 유기성 질소를 비롯한 유기물의 분해를 퇴비화초기 단계에서는 촉진하는 것으로 나타났다. 하지만 이러한 퇴비식종이 최종적으로 유기물 분해율이나 질소 손실량에는 영향을 주지 않았다. 또한 퇴비를 식종함으로써 초기 고온 단계의 셀룰로스 분해가 촉진되었으며 건조 중량으로 25% 식종은 초기에 충분한 양의 셀룰로스 분해 미생물을 공급하는 것으로 나타났다. 아울러 퇴비 식종량이 증가함에 따라 초기 단계의 셀룰로스 분해 효소 활성도가 높았으며, 단시간에 최대값으로 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 그러나 최대 셀룰로스 분해효소의 활성도 유지기간이나 최대값은 대체로 비슷하였다. 또한 최종적인 셀룰로스 분해율도 비슷하여 퇴비 식종효과는 셀룰로스의 빠른 분해에 제한되며, 셀룰로스의 전반적인 분해도 향상에는 기여하지 못하는 것으로 판단된다.

  • 소수력발전은 하수처리장 에너지 자립을 위한 효과적인 대안이다. 본 연구는 유량변동이 크고 유효낙차가 낮은 중소형 하수처리장(기흥레스피아) 적용을 위해 피치조절형 세미카플란(semi-kaplan) 마이크로수력발전의 적용 타당성을 평가하였다. 가변피치 semi-kaplan 수차는 유량조절을 위한 가이드베인은 생략하고 피치조절형 런너를 장착하여 기계적 결함은 줄이면서 유량변동이 큰 처리장에 특화된 기술이다. 마이크로수력발전 시스템은 설계조건(유량 0.35 $m^3/s$, 유효낙차 4.7 m)에서 90.2%의 수차효율 달성이 가능하였고 발전용량은 13.4 kW로 산정되었다. 설비가동률 74%로 가동 시 연간 약 86.8 MWh 에너지 생산을 통해 2.1%의 에너지 자립이 가능하고 이는 연간 49톤의 $CO_2$ 감축효과와 맞먹는다. 경제성 평가결과 초기 건설공사비가 200,000,000원 이하인 경우에는 내부수익률은 6.1%, 순현가는 15,539,000원, 편익-비용률은 1.08, 투자회수년은 15.5년으로 경제성이 충분한 것으로 나타났다.

발화합성용액의 pH가 Y1Ba2Cu3O7-x 초전도상 생성 속도에 미치는 영향 (Effect of the pH of Pyrophoric Synthetic Solution on the Formation Kinetics of Y1Ba2Cu3O7-x Superconducting Phase)

  • $Y_2O_3$(99.9%)와 $BaCO_3$(99.9%) 및 CuO(99.9%)를 사용하여 $Y_1Ba_2Cu_3O_{7-x}$(123) 분말을 발화합성법에 의해 제조하였다. 발화전 용액을 여러 가지 pH로 변화시켜 제조하였으며, 이 분말을 성형하여 열처리 온도와 시간 변화에 따른 상형성과 반응특성을 조사하였다. 시료의 조성과 조직의 특성은 ICP와 SEM을 이용하여 측정하였고, Y-Ba-Cu-O계의 상형성과 전화율을 결정하기 위해 X선 회절분석을 하였다. 발화합성법을 이용하여 pH 7(${\pm}0.3$)에서 제조된 123 분말이 순도와 균일성 및 반응특성에서 가장 좋은 결과를 보였다. pH 7(${\pm}0.3$)에서 제조된 분말을 이용한 123 상생성에 따른 활성화에너지(${\Delta}E_a$)는 191kJ/mol으로서 고상반응법의 230kJ/mol에 약 13% 정도 더 낮았다.

Expression of genes related to lipid transport in meat-type ducks divergent for low or high residual feed intake

  • Objective: This study examined the effects of divergence in residual feed intake (RFI) on expression profiles of key genes related to lipid transport in the liver and duodenal epithelium and their associations with feed efficiency traits in meat-type ducks. Methods: A total of 1,000 male ducks with similar body weight (1,042.1±87.2 g) were used in this study, and their individual RFI was calculated from 21 to 42 d of age. Finally, the 10 highest RFI (HRFI) and 10 lowest RFI (LRFI) ducks were chosen for examining the expression of key genes related to lipid transport in the liver and duodenal epithelium using quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Results: In the liver, expression levels of albumin (ALB), CD36 molecule (CD36), fatty acid hydroxylase domain containing 2 (FAXDC2), and choline kinase alpha (CHKA) were significantly higher in LRFI ducks than in HRFI ducks (p<0.01); negative correlations (p<0.05) between expression levels of ALB, CD36, FAXDC2, and CHKA and RFI were detected in the liver. Additionally, ALB expression was strongly positively correlated (p<0.05) with CD36, FAXDC2, CHKA, and apolipoprotein H (APOH) expression in the liver. In duodenal epithelium, we found that mRNA levels of ALB, CD36, FAXDC2, and APOH were significantly higher in LRFI ducks than in HRFI ducks (p<0.01); RFI was strongly negatively correlated (p<0.05) with ALB, FAXDC2, and APOH expression, while ALB expression was strongly positively correlated with APOH expression (p<0.01) in duodenal epithelium. Furthermore, expression levels of both ALB and FAXDC2 genes were significantly associated with feed conversion ratio and RFI in both liver and duodenal epithelium (p<0.05). Conclusion: Our findings therefore suggest that ALB and FAXDC2 genes might be used as potential gene markers designed to improve feed efficiency in future meat-type duck breeding programs.

플라스틱 고형 연료의 가스화 특성 (Characteristics of Gasification for a Refused Plastic Fuel)

  • 폐기물을 고체재생연료(SRF: Solid Refuse Fuel) 에너지로 전환하는 것은 화석에너지의 대체효과는 물론 온실가스 저감에도 기여한다. 그러나 플라스틱이 많이 함유한 SRF의 직접연소의 경우 검뎅(soot), 다이옥신 등의 생성문제가 있으므로 열분해/가스화 처리의 적용이 효과적이다. 본 연구에서는 플라스틱이 다량 함유된 SRF를 열분해 가스화의 특성을 파악하여 새로운 형태의 열분해 가스화 처리장치 개발을 위한 열적 기본자료을 제공하고자 한다. 이를 위해 새로이 벤치규모의 장치를 설계 제작하여, 설정된 일정 온도에서 공기비 변화에 대한 가스, 타르, 촤 생성특성에 대해 규명하였다. SRF 샘플 2 g, 가스화 공기비 0.691, 홀딩시간(Holding time) 32분일 때, 생성가스는 $H_2$ 1.36%, $CH_4$ 2.18%, CO 1.88%, $Cl_2$ 15.9 ppm, HCl 26.4 ppm로 생성되었으며, 중량타르(Gravimetric tar) $18g/Nm^3$와 경질타르는 Benzene $4.03g/m^3$, Naphthalene $0.39g/m^3$, Anthracene $0.11g/m^3$, Pyrene $0.06g/m^3$ 그리고 촤는 0.29 g 생성되었다.

저등급 석탄, Wood Chip, Petroleum Coke의 수증기 가스화반응 Kinetics 연구 (A Kinetic Study of Steam Gasification of Low Rank Coal, Wood Chip and Petroleum Coke)

  • 발열량이 낮은 저등급 석탄이나 황함량이 많은 petroleum-coke는 그 이용이 제한적이지만 공급이 풍부하여 잠재력이 큰 에너지원이므로, 가스화공정에 적용하여 고급연료인 수소나 액체연료를 생산할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 상압의 열천칭 반응기(thermobalance)에서 wood chip, 저등급 석탄인 갈탄, 역청탄, 무연탄, pet-coke의 수증기 가스화 반응특성을 조사하였다. 가스화 온도 $600{\sim}850^{\circ}C$, 수증기 분압 30~90 kPa의 범위에서 조업변수들이 가스화반응속도에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 기체-고체 반응모델로서 modified volumetric reaction model을 적용하여 가스화반응의 거동을 묘사하고 가스화공정에 필수적인 kinetic 정보를 도출하였다. 저등급탄인 갈탄과 바이오매스인 wood chip은 휘발분 함량도 높고 비교적 높은 가스화반응속도를 보여 가스화반응공정에 적합한 연료이다. Arrhenius plot으로부터 활성화에너지는 wood chip, 갈탄, 역청탄, 무연탄, pet-coke에 대해 각각 260.3, 167.9, 134.6, 82.2, 168.9 kJ/mol으로 구해졌다. 각 연료에 대하여 수증기 가스화반응의 반응차수를 결정하였으며, 가스화공정 설계의 기초데이타로서 겉보기 반응속도식을 제시하였다.

Effect of Graded Levels of Tallow in the Diet on Performance, Digestibility of Fat, Lipogenesis and Body Lipid Deposition of the Weaned Piglet

  • Thirty piglets weaned at 24.5 d of age ($6.9{\pm}0.5kg$) randomly alloted to 3 treatments were used to investigate the effect of dietary tallow on average performance, digestibility of nutrients, metabolic utilization of energy and body composition at 25 kg. Weaned piglets respond to increasing levels of dietary tallow from 0 to 4% and 8% by digestive and metabolic adaptation. Apparent fecal digestibility of fat (AFDf) was highly correlated with the level of dietary tallow (X as % of fat extracted after HCl hydrolysis) by the following curvilinear equation of regression: $AFDf=33.8+6.9X-0.3X^2$. Feed intake expressed as DE was only significantly increased at the higher inclusion level of tallow. But neither average daily gain, nor feed conversion was affected by the addition of fat. On the other hand, body composition at 25 kg was equally affected, by both levels of supplementary fat; dry matter and energy content in the body were significantly higher (p<0.01) in piglets receiving tallow. As a consequence, the energy cost of the live weight gain was also increased from 23 to 24.7 MJ DE/kg (p<0.02) and the efficiency of energy deposition was decreased from 3.2 to 2.8 MJ DE/MJ deposited energy (p<0.01) in the presence of dietary tallow. An increase in the level of fat stimulated the activity of pancreatic lipase up to a constant value of $22{\pm}1.4IU/mg$ protein but conversely depressed the activity of amylase from 300 to 100 IU/mg of protein. The activity of liver acetyl CoA carboxylase and malic enzyme in the perirenal fat were low lind not affected by dietary fat; the activity of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase was high. Opposite to that, the activity of acetyl CoA carboxylase and malic enzyme in the perirenal and backfat were higher than in the liver and both were significantly reduced by the inclusion of fat in the diet. A direct deposition of dietary fat has been demonstrated by increasing the energy and lipid content of the empty body weight gain between 7 and 25 kg of live weight, and decreasing the efficiency of digestible energy utilization.

The Effect of Level of Crude Protein and Available Lysine on Finishing Pig Performance, Nitrogen Balance and Nutrient Digestibility

  • Two trials were conducted to investigate the effect of decreasing the crude protein (CP) content of diets for finishing pigs containing two levels of available lysine on nutrient digestibility, nitrogen (N) balance and production performance. Ten finishing diets containing five levels of CP (on average 144, 155, 168, 182 and 193 g/kg fresh basis) and two levels of available lysine (6.9 and 8.2 g/kg fresh basis) were formulated. The diets were offered to pigs on a performance trial (n = 800 Large White (LW)${\times}$Landrace (LR) pigs) from 10 wk of age until finish at 21 wks+5 d of age. Average daily gain (ADG), average daily feed intake (ADFI) and feed conversion ratio (FCR) were calculated. In addition, a digestibility/N balance trial was conducted using pigs (n = 80 $LW{\times}LR$) housed in metabolism crates. Digestibility of dry matter (DM), CP, oil, fibre and energy was determined. N balance values were determined through analysis of N content of urine and faeces ('as determined'). N balance values were also calculated using ADG values and assuming that 16% of growth is protein deposition ("as calculated"). Pig performance was poor between 10 and 13 wk of age which indicated that the dietary treatments were nutritionally inadequate for pigs less than 40 kg. There was a significant (p<0.01) quadratic effect of increasing CP level on feed intake, ADG and FCR from 10 to 13 wk which indicated that the lower CP levels did not supply adequate levels of essential or non-essential amino acids. There was no effect of increasing available lysine level throughout the early period, which in conjunction with the response in older pigs, suggested that both 8.2 and 6.9 g/kg available lysine were insufficient to drive optimum growth. There was a positive response (p<0.05) to increasing available lysine level from 13 wk to finish which indicated that 6.9 g/kg available lysine was not adequate for finishing pigs. Energy digestibility decreased with decreasing CP level of diets containing 6.9 g/kg available lysine which may be attributed to the higher fibre content of the lower CP diets. Nitrogen excretion (g/d) was lowered when dietary CP was reduced regardless of whether the values were determined through balance or calculated using ADG. Calculated N excretion decreased linearly (p<0.001) and quadratically (p<0.001) with decreasing dietary CP content. When the N balance figures calculated in this study were compared with those quoted in the Northern Ireland and English Nitrates Directive Action Programmes, N excretion was less per pig (wean to finish) offered a 169 g/kg CP, 8.2 g/kg available lysine diet (2.39 kg vs 3.41 kg (Northern Ireland) and 2.93 kg (England)).

Influence of Palm Kernel Meal Inclusion and Exogenous Enzyme Supplementation on Growth Performance, Energy Utilization, and Nutrient Digestibility in Young Broilers

  • The objective of the present study was to investigate the influence of palm kernel meal (PKM) inclusion and exogenous enzyme supplementation on growth performance, nitrogen-corrected apparent metabolizable energy (AMEn), coefficient of apparent ileal digestibility (CAID) and total tract retention of nutrients in young broilers fed corn-based diets. Four inclusion levels of PKM (no PKM [PKM0], 8% [PKM8], 16% [PKM16], and 24% [PKM24]) and two enzyme additions were evaluated in a $4{\times}2$ factorial arrangement of treatments. A total of 384, one-d-old male broilers (Ross 308) were individually weighed and allocated to 48 cages (eight broilers/cage), and cages were randomly assigned to eight dietary treatments. Results indicated that the inclusion of 8% and 16% PKM increased (p<0.05) the weight gain compared to the PKM0 diet. Birds fed the PKM8 diets had the highest (p<0.05) feed intake. Weight gain and feed intake were severely reduced (p<0.05) by feeding the PKM24 diet. Enzyme supplementation increased weight gain (p<0.05), independent of PKM inclusion level. In PKM0 and PKM8 diets, enzyme addition significantly (p<0.05) lowered feed conversion ratio (FCR); whereas enzyme addition had no effect on FCR of birds fed PKM16 and PKM24 diets. In PKM0 and PKM16 diets, enzyme addition significantly (p<0.05) increased CAID of nitrogen and energy but had no effect in the PKM8 and PKM24 diets. Inclusion of PKM into the basal diet, irrespective of inclusion level, enhanced (p<0.05) starch and fat digestibility. Inclusion of PKM at 16% and 24% resulted in similar CAID of neutral detergent fiber (NDF) but higher (p<0.05) than that of the PKM0 and PKM8 diets. Enzyme addition, regardless of the level of PKM inclusion, significantly (p<0.05) increased CAID of NDF. There was a significant (p<0.05) decrease in AMEn with PKM inclusion of 24%. The present data suggest that inclusion of PKM in broiler diets could be optimized if PKM-containing diets are formulated based on digestible amino acid contents and supplemented with exogenous enzymes. If amino acid digestibility and AME of PKM considered in the formulation, it can be included in broiler diets up to 16% with no deleterious effects on growth performance.
