  • In this paper, we investigate the problem of secure communications in multiple-input-multiple-output interference networks from the perspective of physical layer security. Specifically, the legitimate transmitter-receiver pairs are divided into different categories of active and inactive. To enhance the security performances of active pairs, inactive pairs serve as cooperative jammers and broadcast artificial noises to interfere with the eavesdropper. Besides, active pairs improve their own security by using joint transceivers. The encoding of active pairs and inactive pairs are designed by maximizing the difference of mean-squared errors between active pairs and the eavesdropper. In detail, the transmit precoder matrices of active pairs and inactive pairs are solved according to game theory and linear programming respectively. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has fast convergence speed, and the security performances in different scenarios are effectively improved.

  • In this paper, Inter user interference elimination algorithm based on Block Diagonal Geometric Mean Decomposition(BD-GMD) for eliminating inter user interference apply to Zero-Forcing in the Successive Signal to Leakage plus Noise Ratio(SSLNR) in Coordinated Multi-Point Coordinated Beamforming system(CoMP CB). As a result, the leakage power is eliminated. The inter user interference elimination algorithm, however, cannot guarantee the enough desired signal power therefore we perform the channel ordering to overcome this disadvantage and increase the desired signal power. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme provides the improved Bit Error Rate(BER) performance compared with existing SSLNR-Zero-Forcing-Tomlinson Harashima precoding(SSLNR-ZF-THP).

  • When a closed access policy in which only an authorized user is allowed to access to a given base station (BS) has been employed in heterogeneous cellular networks, a macro-cell user is used to experience strong cross-tier interference from its adjacent small-cell BSs to which the user is not allowed to access. To mitigate this problem, it has been proposed that a small-cell BS employs a beamforming vector which is orthogonal to the channel of the victim user. However, this technique requires considerable mutual exchange of information among the macro-cell BS, the macro-cell user, and the small-cell BS. In this paper, we propose a cognitive beamforming scheme, in which a small-cell BS employs the beamforming orthogonal to the victim users' channel without any explicit mutual information exchange. Particularly, the small-cell BS finds small- and macro-cell users experiencing the co-tier and cross-tier interferences from it, respectively. Then, it employs a beamforming which is orthogonal to the victim users' channels to mitigate the co-tier and cross-tier interferences. Using the system-level simulation, we demonstrate that the proposed scheme effectively mitigates the cross-tier interference problem.

  • This paper makes a study of a formulation of net filter discrimination(NFD) and its computation for analyzing adjacent channel interference and suggests a systematic algorithm for calculating protection ratios of co-channel and adjacent channel applicable to frequency coordination in the fixed radio relay networks. It is shown that adjacent channel protection ratio can be derived from two factors: One is NFD depending upon receiver filter characteristic as well as transmitter spectrum mask and the other is co-channel protection ratio given by a function of fade margin, modulation scheme, and allowable interference. Actually to show the computing procedure from transmitter spectrum mask and receiver filter characteristic, NFD has been obtained for channel bandwidth of 29.65 and 40 MHz at 6.2 and 6.7 GHz band, respectively. According to the results, NFDs at the first adjacent channel of 29.65 and 40 MHz provide 27.4 and 28.9 dB, respectively. From these data, adjacent channel protection ratios corresponding to each channel bandwidth yield 47.5 and 46.3 dB for a given 64-QAM and 60 km. The proposed method gives some merits of an easy calculation, systematic extension, and applying the same concept to frequency coordination in millimeter radio relay networks.

  • In this paper, we propose the interference probability according to distance between mobile stations and the maximal power of interfering transmitter as parameters which are used for analysis to co-exist in co-channel of different systems. In order to analyze interfering between each systems, we consider two cases. First, WiBro is an interfering transmitter and WLAN is a victim receiver. Second, WLAN is an interfering transmitter and WiBro is a victim receiver. When the interfering transmitter is WiBro or WLAN, interference probability according to distance between systems is analyzed by setting transmit power of 25 and 23 dBm, respectively. Analyzed coexistence results under various co-use scenarios may be widely applied into the technique developed to get the coexisting condition for wireless devices using many communication protocols in same frequency.

  • Analytic modeling and computational simulation for the protection of DTV from cognitive radio interference are performed. Protection is achieved by using the protection ratio, which is derived through system modeling and its analysis. On the frequency coordination between digital TV and cognitive radio, an analysis in a co-channel environment, in a rural area in Korea, is performed.

  • This paper investigates the performance of interference-limited two-way transmission protocols in the Rayleigh fading channels. New lower bound of outage probability and approximate expression of bit error rate (BER) for three-phase two-way relaying (3P-TWR) protocol are derived in closed-form. These expressions are valid for arbitrary signal-to-noise ratio values, numbers of co-channel interferers and amajority of modulation formats employed in the practical system. Then a comparative study is developed for the performance of three two-way transmission protocols, i.e., direct transmission (DT) protocol, two-phase two-way relaying (2P-TWR) protocol and 3P-TWR protocol based on the asymptotic expressions of outage probability and BER. On the basis of the theoretical results, the thresholds on the strength (variance) of direct channel and target rate for the relative performance of different protocols are obtained and the effect of interferences at the terminal and relay on the relative performance is analyzed. The results present key insights on how to choose proper two-way transmission protocol with the knowledge of fading channels, required date rate and modulation format to optimize the system performance in the practical interference-limited scenarios. Simulation results are presented to validate the theoretical analysis.
