Agglomeration of catalysts is known as one of the major degradation mechanisms. Reforming of liquid fuel, which requires high temperature over $800^{\circ}C$, accelerates agglomeration of catalysts. In this work, The effects of agglomeration on catalysts activity in partial oxidation reforming conditions were investigated. Metal supported catalysts(Pt-CGO, Ru-CGO) were compared to perovskite-structured catalysts(NECS-P1, NECS-P2). High thermal stability of perovskite-structured catalysts was reported. Micro-reactor installed in electric furnace was used. its Temperature was raised from $800^{\circ}C$ to $1000^{\circ}C$ to accelerate agglomeration effect. To measure rate of agglomeration, BET analysis and CO pulse chemisorption were conducted on catalysts exposed to $1100^{\circ}C$. Metal supported catalysts showed degradation at $1000^{\circ}C$ and The rates were different according to metal supported. On the other hand perovskite-structured catalysts showed no degradation at $1000^{\circ}C$.
Perovskite-type oxides were successfully prepared using malic acid method, characterized by TG/DTA, XRD, XPS, TEM and $H_2$-TPR and their catalytic activities for the combustion of benzene were determined. Almost of catalyst showed perovskite crystalline phase and 15-70 nm particle size. The $LaMnO_3$ catalysts showed the highest activity and the conversion reaches almost 100% at $350^{\circ}C$. The catalysts were modified to enhance the activity through substitution of metal into the A or B site of the perovskite oxides. In the $LaMnO_3$-type catalyst, the partial substitution of Sr into site the A-site enhanced the catalytic activity in the benzene combustion. In addition, the partial substitution of Co or Cu into site the B-site also enhanced the catalytic activity and the catalytic activity was in the order of Co > Cu > Fe in the $LaMn_{1-x}B_xO_3$ (B = Co, Fe, Cu) type catalyst.
This study was performed to study the photocatalyst for controlling the pollutant such as CO, C2H5OH and H2S by the UV light. This was shown in a catalyst having the same volume and the same surface area, that the structure in which the UV light to reach the interior structure exhibits more excellent activity. However, the activity of this activity of this photocatalyst removal of CO was very low. This problem can be solved by performing a reduction process by the addition of the precious metal series of Pt. Particularly, the amount of chemical species Pt0 incerased in the surface of Pt/TiO2 photocatalyst through the reduction process, which make the reaction activity of photocatalyst excellent to the removal of the CO.
Monodispersed porous NiO and $Co_3O_4$ microcapsules with a hollow core were synthesized using SBA-16 silica sol and PS as a hard template. The porous hollow microcapsules were characterized by XRD, TEM and $N_2$ adsorption/desorption analysis. After $H_2$ reduction of metal oxide microspheres, they were conducted as an active catalyst in the reduction of chiral butylronitrile and cyanobenzene. The mesoporous metals having a hollow structure showed a higher activity than a nonporous metal powder and an impregnated metal on the carbon support.
WGS reaction over Mo2C and ceria based catalysts was investigated to develop an alternative commercial Cu-Zn/Al2O3 catalyst for fuel processor and hydrogen station. The Mo2C catalysts were prepared by a temperature programmed method and the various metal supported cerium oxide catalysts were prepared by an Impregnation method. The catalysts were characterized by the N2 physisorption, Co chemisorption, XRD, TEM and TPR. It was found that Mo2C and 0.2wt% Pt-40wt%, Ni/CeO2 catalysts had higher activity and stability than the Cu-Zn/Al203 above $260^{\circ}C$. Moreover, CO conversion of more than 85% was observed at $280{\sim}300^{\circ}C$. But all catalysts were deactivated during the thermal cycling runs. The results suggest that these catalysts are an attractive candidate for the alternative Cu-Zn/Al2O3 catalyst for fuel processor and hydrogen station applications.

The kinetics of direct methanation over activated charcoal-supported molybdenum catalyst at 30 bar was studied in a cylindrical fixed-bed reactor. When the temperature was not higher than 400℃, the CO conversion increased with increasing temperature according to the Arrhenius law of reaction kinetics. While XRD and Raman analysis showed that Mo was present as Mo oxides after reduction or methanation, TEM and XPS analysis showed that Mo2C was formed after methanation depending on the loading of Mo precursor. When the temperature was as high as 500℃, the CO conversion was dependent not only on the Arrhenius law but also on the catalyzed reaction by nanoparticles, which came off from the reactor and thermocouple by metal dusting. These nanoparticles were made of Ni, Fe, Cr and alloy, and attributed to the formation of carbon deposit on the wall of the reactor and on the surface of the thermocouple. The carbon deposit consisted of amorphous and disordered carbon filaments.

Electrochemical reduction of thionyl chloride has been carried out at glassy carbon and molybdenum electrodes, the surface of which is modified by binuclear tetradentate schiff base Co(II), Ni(II),Cu(II) and Fe(II) complexes. The catalyst molecules of transition metal(II) complexes were adsorbed on the electrode surface and reduced thionyl chloride resulting in a generation of oxidized catalyst molecules. There was an optimum concentration for each catalyst compound. The catalytic effects of SOCl$_2$ reduction were larger on glassy carbon electrodes compared to molybdenum electrodes and enhancements in reduction current of up to 120${\%}$ at the glassy carbon electrodes. The reduction currents of thionyl chloride were increased and the reduction potentials were shifted to the negative potential when scan rates became faster. The reduction of thionyl chloride was proceed to diffusion controlled reaction.
Interest in environmental pollution is increasing all over the world, and technology development to solve it is actively carried out. In areas where heat is used, especially, combustion is causing countless pollutants in the air environment. Combustion catalyst is a technology that reduces NOx and CO by lowering combustion temperature and enabling complete combustion. Traditional combustion catalysts are expensive and complex in the synthesis process using precious metal catalyst. In this study, hexaaluminate, a high-temperature combustion catalyst, was manufactured using urea, and the properties were investigated according to the synthesis time. The combustion performance and characteristics were evaluated using this catalyst. As the temperature increased, the changing methane conversion rate was shown in two patterns. The conversion rates for 1 hour, 9 hours, and 12 hours were similar, while the conversion rates for 3 hours and 6 hours showed similar patterns. Methane combustion performance increased rapidly as the synthesis time increased from 6 hours to 9 hours, whereas the temperature at T50 was approximately 745 ℃. The performance of the synthesized combustion catalyst for 9 hours was optimum as the NOx emission of this combustion catalyst was not present and the maximum emission of CO was 72 ppm.
In this study, the reducing agent hydrazine and precipitator NaOH were used with $NiCl_2$ as a starting material in order to compound Ni-based material with spherical nano characteristics; resulting material was used as an anode for SOFC. Synthetic temperature, pH, and solvent amounts were experimentally optimized and the synthesis conditions were confirmed. Also, a 0 ~ 0.15 mole ratio of metal(Co, Fe) was alloyed in order to increase the catalyst activation performance of Ni and finally, spherical nano $Ni_{(1-x)}-M_{(x=0{\sim}0.15)}$(M = Co, Fe) alloy materials were compounded. In order to evaluate the catalyst activation for hydrocarbon fuel, fuel gas(10%/$CH_4$+10%/Air) was added and the responding gas was analyzed with GC(Gas Chromatography). Catalyst activation improvement was confirmed from the 3% hydrogen selectivity and 2.4% methane conversion rate in $Ni_{0.95}-Co_{0.05}$ alloy; those values were 4.4% and 19%, respectively, in $Ni_{0.95}-Fe_{0.05}$ alloy.

The selective catalytic reduction(SCR) of nitric oxide by ethane in the presence of oxygen was investigated on Cu-ZSM-5, Co-ZSM-5 and Ga-ZSM-5 catalysts over a range of 400, 450 and $500^{\circ}C$. The catalysts were prepared by ion-exchange method. The composition of the reactant gases were 1000 ppm of NO, 1000 ppm of $C_{2}H_{6}$ and 2.5% of $O_{2}$, and the reaction was conducted in a fixed-bed reactor at 1 atm. For the 20wt% Co-ZSM-5(50) catalyst, the NO conversion reached up to 100%, while the $C_2H_6$ conversion and the CO selectivity were about 50% and 25%, respectively, at $450^{\circ}C$. For the 20wt% Cu-ZSM-5(50) catalyst, the NO conversion and the C2H6 conversion were about 80% and 100%, respectively, but there was no CO produced. The metal ion-exchanged ZSM-5 catalysts exhibited a tendency to increase the NO conversion with the Si/Al ratio of the ZSM-5, that is, NO conversion was inversely proportional to the acidity of the catalysts. But, the effect of the acidity on NO conversion was not so large. From the XRD results of the catalysts before and after SCR reaction it was found that there was no structural change.
