  • This research has a significant meaning to break from the urban ecology-oriented biotope research and realize the importance of rural landscape as a reserve area for systemizing the types of rural biotope. The results are as follows. First of all, items for classification of 16 rural biotope areas are designed and total 9 itmes in slope from spatial structural point of view and 7 items in minute-variety from functional point of view. Also, as the result of on-site research on case areas based on classified items, there are 46 types of rural biotope such as coniferous forest, hedgerow and so on. For example, it is proven that uncultivated stripe showed the most frequent emergence. As a result of cluster analysis of average linkage method between clusters, 12 clusters are classified as a clusters and 13 biotope types are re-corrected and complemented through brainstorming process and then total 12 clusters are selected as final rural biotope type groups. As a rural biotope type cluster and character analysis according to types based on on-site research and documentary survey, for example, it is analyzed that the ratio of transmissible covering ratio is 100%, the ratio of green coverage is 90% in 'woodland in cultivated area biotope type cluster'.

  • This paper attempts to improve the existing architecture of location register for location management in Private Network to Network Interface(PNNI)-based wireless ATM networks. Our approach enhances the hierarchical architecture of location registers based on a PNNI hierarchical architecture, which is referred to as the logical hierarchy architecture of location registers. This paper introduces a logical hierarchy architecture for location registers to reduce the cost of their location management. This logical hierarchy architecture of location registers begins with the lowest level physical location registers that are organized into clusters called logical groups. These logical groups are then represented in higher layers by logical nodes. These logical nodes are again grouped into clusters that are treated as single nodes by the next higher layer. In this way, all location registers are included in this tree-type logical hierarchy architecture. Compared with the existing physical hierarchy architecture of location registers, the analysis results show that the proposed logical hierarchy architecture can reduce the number of databases and thereby the average total location management cost.

  • This paper presents the simulation architecture and strategy for dynamic simulation of chemical process and describes key features of developed dynamic simulation system, MOSA(Multi-Objective Simulation Architecture). A plant structure may be partioned into several strong coupling units, called cluster. If this cluster is solved simultaneously, it is possible to simulate whole plant without introducing convergence problem of tear streams. In this study, a flexible modular approach based on clusters was proposed as a promising architecture for dynamic chemical process simulator.

  • In this paper we present an architecture, implementation, and performance evaluation of an adaptive communication system (ACS) for wide-area ATM clusters. Our approach capitalizes on thread-based programming model to overlap computation and communication and develop a dynamic message-passing environment with separate data and control paths. This leads to a flexible and adaptive message-passing environment that can support multiple flow control, error control, and multicasting algorithms. We show the performance of ACS applications and compare them with p4, PVM, and MPI applications.

  • We propose a hierarchical architecture of ART2 Network for performance improvement and fast pattern classification model using fitness selection. This hierarchical network creates coarse clusters as first ART2 network layer by unsupervised learning, then creates fine clusters of the each first layer as second network layer by supervised learning. First, it compares input pattern with each clusters of first layer and select candidate clusters by fitness measure. We design a optimized fitness function for pruning clusters by measuring relative distance ratio between a input pattern and clusters. This makes it possible to improve speed and accuracy. Next, it compares input pattern with each clusters connected with selected clusters and finds winner cluster. Finally it classifies the pattern by a label of the winner cluster. Results of our experiments show that the proposed method is more accurate and fast than other approaches.

  • Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are widely applied in monitoring and control of environment parameters. It is sometimes necessary to disseminate data through wireless links after they are deployed in order to adjust configuration parameters of sensors or distribute management commands and queries to sensors. Several approaches have been proposed recently for data dissemination in WSNs. However, none of these approaches achieves both high efficiency and low complexity simultaneously. To address this problem, cluster-tree based network architecture, which divides a WSN into hierarchies and clusters is proposed. Upon this architecture, data is delivered from base station to all sensors in clusters hierarchy by hierarchy. In each cluster, father broadcasts data to all his children with instantly decodable network coding (IDNC), and a novel scheme targeting to maximize total transmission gain (MTTG) is proposed. This scheme employs a new packet scheduling algorithm to select IDNC packets, which uses weight status feedback matrix (WSFM) directly. Analysis and simulation results indicate that the transmission efficiency approximate to the best existing approach maximum weight clique, but with much lower computational overhead. Hence, the energy efficiency achieves both in data transmission and processing.

  • Although multi-layer planting methods are more widely used as a method for clustered planting and environmental programs such as plant remediation, difficulties have been faced in applying those to planting design. This study develops a basic planting model that can be applied to multi-layer planting in basis on an analysis of forest structures in the Seoul area. An optimal number of clusters was determined through the ISA (Indicator Species Analysis), and 7 basic clusters were found through a cluster analysis by using PC ORD 4.0 software specifically developed for ecological analysis. The 7 basic clusters include the following communities: the Quercus acutissima Community, Sorbus alnifolia-Quercus mongolica Community, Pinus rigida-Pinus densifiora Community, Rododendron mucronulatum var. mucronulatum-Quercus mongolica Community, Juniperus rigida-Quercus mongolica Community, Rododendron mucronulatum var. mucronulatum-Pinus densiflora Community, and Rododendron sclippenbachii-Quercus mongolica Community. The study also selected 57 species with at least a 10% frequency among the plant species existing in the Seoul area and suggested both a companion species and available similar alternative species by conducting an additional interspecific association analysis. This study may help to enhance usefulness of the model in architectural planting design. In addition, the two results named above were synthesized to develop a multi-layer planting model that can be utilized in landscape planting design by selecting similar alternative species through the interspecific association analysis, which includes 7 clusters of natural plants. The multi-layer planting model can be widely applied to design planting because the model has an average target cover range based on the average value of a transformed likelihood.

  • In this paper, we proposed a new architecture called radial basis function-based polynomial neural networks classifier that consists of heterogeneous neural networks such as radial basis function neural networks and polynomial neural networks. The underlying architecture of the proposed model equals to polynomial neural networks(PNNs) while polynomial neurons in PNNs are composed of Fuzzy-c means-based radial basis function neural networks(FCM-based RBFNNs) instead of the conventional polynomial function. We consider PNNs to find the optimal local models and use RBFNNs to cover the high dimensionality problems. Also, in the hidden layer of RBFNNs, FCM algorithm is used to produce some clusters based on the similarity of given dataset. The proposed model depends on some parameters such as the number of input variables in PNNs, the number of clusters and fuzzification coefficient in FCM and polynomial type in RBFNNs. A multiobjective particle swarm optimization using crowding distance (MoPSO-CD) is exploited in order to carry out both structural and parametric optimization of the proposed networks. MoPSO is introduced for not only the performance of model but also complexity and interpretability. The usefulness of the proposed model as a classifier is evaluated with the aid of some benchmark datasets such as iris and liver.

  • Traditional kernel-level communication systems for clusters are dependent upon computing platforms. Futhermore, they are not easy to use and do not provide various functions for clusters. This paper presents an architecture and various implementation issues of a kernel-level communication system, KCCM(Kernel level Cluster Communication Module), for linux cluster. The KCCM provides asynchronous communication services as well as standard synchronous communication services using send and receive. The KCCM also automatically detects and recovers connection failures at runtime. This allows programmers to use KCCM when they build mission critical applications over TCP-based connection-oriented communication environments. Having developed using standard socket interfaces, it can be easily ported to various platforms. The experimental results show that the KCCM provides good performance for asynchronous communication patterns.

  • A collective theory is tried in analysis on the architectural history of Temple Gowoon in Gyongbook Province. For this purpose, firstly, the chronicle of construction was composed based on the critical study of the old documents. Secondly, the drawings of existing facilities were made after the field survey. And lastly, the collective theory was be able to extracted from the relation between chronicle and physical composion of the Temple Gowoon. The whole temple is composed of two territories, northern one and southern, which are divided by the central ravine. Northern territory was enlarged from Gukrakgeon's cluster through Myongboogeon's to Yeonsoogeon's. On the other hand, southern territory was reduced its position and its size from Daewoongeon's cluster, which was one of the main cluster, to Monigeon's, sub one. These processes were the results of the architectural adjustment, that is say, the dogmatic principles adapted in the topographical environments. The collective forms of clusters are different from each other. Gukrakgeon's cluster is composed of four buildings which enclose the empty inner court. Monigeon's is similar to the small temple type, Myongboogeon's selects the straggling form, and Yoensoogeon's has the type of Confucian shrine. The various types of clusters were the physical settings to symbolize the religious heirarchy of their buildigs. In the front of temple area, Gawoonloo, which located on the ravine and has a big volume, integrates straggling clusters.
