Paleomagnetic Study on the Remanent Magnetization of the Silla Conglomerate Formation in Jinju and Goryeong Areas (진주 및 고령 지역에 분포하는 신라역암층의 잔류자화에 대한 고지자기 연구)

  • 105 oriented samples (19 matrix samples, 86 cobble samples) were collected from the Silla Coglomerate Formation in Jinju and Goryeong areas to clarify the regional remagnetization of Cretaceous Kyongsang supergroup. Both the alternating field and thermal demagnetizations were conducted for the collected samples. The characteristic remanent magnetizations of these samples divided into three types in the Silla Conglomerate Formation: The ingredient magnetic minerals are magnetite, hematite, or both magnetite and hematite in a specimen. The characteristic remanent directions of cobble samples did not clustered to any direction. And the characteristic remanent directions of interbedded sandstones in the Silla Conglomerate Formation is $D/I=20.6^{\circ}/54.5^{\circ}$ (${\alpha}_{95}=11.1^{\circ}$, k=48.8) after tilting correction, agree with previous paleomagnetic studies on the Hayang group. These results implied that conglomerate test was passed indicating no regional remagnetization in the studied area after deposition of the Silla Conglomerate Formation.

  • Resulting anthropometric data recently measured and cataloged through 5th national anthropometric survey that is called Size Korea is highly useful in clothing industries. This study aims at suggesting a statistical methodology for apparel sizing that reflects recent changes in Korean anthropometry and improves customer fitness. Based on previous research on body types such as triangular, rectangular, inverted body types, etc., factors that represent human sizes were extracted and then clustered into groups by their body types. These body type-based groups with respect to the factors obtained yielded a sizing system of which the interval of each factor is of equi-distance by their factor scores. However, each interval of the sizing system is non-linear in terms of individual anthropometric variables. The sizing system being proposed in this study was compared to that of KS K 0050 and had a broader coverage for the Korean population surveyed. The apparel sizing scheme is expected to improve customer fitness when applied to garment sizing and to provide more information on what percentage of population is included in each classification.

  • Mobile music market is growing. However, services what are applied recently are inaccurate to recommend music that a user is worth to prefer. So, this paper suggests music recommend system. This system recommend music that users prefer analyzing music information and user's musical propensity and using collaborative filtering. This system classify genre and extract factors what can be get using STFT's ZCR, Spectral roll-off, Spectral flux. So similar musics are clustered by these factors. And then, after divide mood of music's lyric, it finally recommend music automatically using collaborative filtering.

  • This study analyzes the sign system, the types and distribution of sign boards, around Cheon-An railway station which is a representative public space, and it gives a classification of the system through investigating them by types and location. Some points are issued on the kind of the system established, the location of the information, and the clustered plantation of them. Thus, it is required to differentiate sign systems in each section, to distribute them uniformly rather than aggregated densely, and to place them at pertinent locations with the analysis of people's behavior avoiding improvised decision. In conclusion, pedestrians' needs on them should be analyzed first no matter where the sign is installed so that it is possible to develop tranquil atmosphere for people to use through providing proper information.

  • In general Information retrieval systems, improper keywords are often extracted and different search results are offered comparing to user's aim bacause the systems use only term frequency informations for selecting keywords and don't consider their meanings. It represents that improving precision is limited without considering semantics of keywords because recall ratio and precision have inverse proportion relation. In this paper, a system which is able to improve precision without decreasing recall ratio is designed and implemented, as client user module is introduced which can send feedbacks to server with user's intention. For this purpose, keywords are selected using relative term frequency and inverse document frequency and co-occurrence words are extracted from original documents. Then, the keywords are clustered by their semantics using calculated mutual informations. In this paper, the system can reject inappropriate documents using segmented semantic informations according to feedbacks from client user module. Consequently precision of the system is improved without decreasing recall ratio.

  • Recent developments in ICT technology have increased interest in the care and health of pets such as dogs and cats. In this paper, cluster analysis was performed based on the component data of pet food to be used in various fields of the pet industry. For cluster analysis, the similarity was analyzed by analyzing the correlation between components of 300 dogs and cats in the market. In this paper, clustering techniques such as Hierarchical, K-Means, Partitioning around medoids (PAM), Density-based, Mean-Shift are clustered and analyzed. We also propose a personalized recommendation system for pets. The results of this paper can be used for personalized services such as feed recommendation system for pets.

Bacterial Community Structure Shifted by Geosmin in Granular Activated Carbon System of Water Treatment Plants

  • We investigated the relation between the presence of geosmin in water and the bacterial community structure within the granular activated carbon (GAC) system of water treatment plants in South Korea. GAC samples were collected in May and August of 2014 at three water treatment plants (Sungnam, Koyang, and Yeoncho in Korea). Dissolved organic carbon and geosmin were analyzed before and after GAC treatment. Geosmin was found in raw water from Sungnam and Koyang water treatment plants but not in that from Yeoncho water treatment plant. Interestingly, but not surprisingly, the 16S rRNA clone library indicated that the bacterial communities from the Sungnam and Koyang GAC systems were closely related to geosmin-degrading bacteria. Based on the phylogenetic tree and multidimensional scaling plot, bacterial clones from GAC under the influence of geosmin were clustered with Variovorax paradoxus strain DB 9b and Comamonas sp. DB mg. In other words, the presence of geosmin in water might have inevitably contributed to the growth of geosmin degraders within the respective GAC system.

  • In this paper we present a novel approach for image retrieval using color and edge information. We take into account the HSI(Hue, Saturation and Intensity) color space instead of RGB space, which emphasizes more on visual perception. In our system colors in an image are clustered into a small number of representative colors. The color feature descriptor consists of the representative colors and their percentages in the image. An improved cumulative color histogram distance measure is defined for this descriptor. And also, we have developed an efficient edge detection technique as an optional feature to our retrieval system in order to surmount the weakness of color feature. During the query processing, both the features (color, edge information) could be integrated for image retrieval as well as a standalone entity, by specifying it in a certain proportion. The content-based retrieval system is tested to be effective in terms of retrieval and scalability through experimental results and precision-recall analysis.

  • This paper describes the design overview of cluster file system $SANique^{TM}$ based on SAN(Storage Area Network) environment. The design issues and problems of the conventional global buffer manager are also illustrated under a large set of clustered computing hosts. We propose the efficient global buffer management method that provides the more scalability and availability. In our proposed global buffer management method, we reuse the maintained list of lock information from our cluster lock manager. The global buffer manger can easily find and determine the location of requested data block cache based on that lock information. We present the pseudo code of the global buffer manager and illustration of global cache operation in cluster environment.

  • An improved clustering scheme based on user group is proposed. Every two users are grouped among N-users in the allowed system according to their link gain from large to small. Each user group is numbered sequentially. Two user clusters are obtained according to the principle of maximizing link gain difference for the users in the first and last user groups. The remaining user groups are added to the two existing user clusters according to the parity of the group number. The clustering should be clustered again among the users in either user cluster if the throughput summation of a user cluster in NOMA is less than that of these users in orthogonal multiple access. The simulation results show that the proposed clustering scheme can increase the system throughput by about 8% compared with the hybrid clustering scheme when the number of users requiring service is 12.
