The formation and structure of the shelf front in the eastern part of the Yellow Sea are studied on the basis of oceanographic data collected in August, 1982 and February, 1983. This paper also describes the distribution of planktonic organisms of the shelf front. In summer the shelf front is formed in the area ($126^{\circ}02^'E-126^{\circ}05^'E$) ca. 20 miles from the shore at the depths of 15-25 m. in winter, however, no distinct shelf front is formed. Based on the cluster analysis of surface phytoplankton the species composition shaws a discontinuous pattern in the vicinity of the shelf front in summer, 1982. A similar trend is observed in distribution of some copepod species in winter, l983.

Defect equilibrium equations were modelled, and the relations of P $o_2$, venus x were derived using the mass action law. The dominant defect species active in a specified region were determined by fitting the curve of experimental data to the calculated curve of log P $o_2$, versus log x for each theoretical model. The calculated curve for (2:1:2) and (Er')$^{x}$ in the hyperstoichiometric $U_{1-y}$E $r_{y}$$O_{2+x}$ and that for (2Er'quot;)$^{x}$$_{dec}$ in the hypostoichiometric $U_{1-y}$E $r_{y}$$O_{2-x}$ are in good agreement with the present experimental results. The sintering behavior of Er-doped U $O_2$ is observed with erbium content in oxidizing and reducing atmospheres. For sintering in oxidizing atmosphere, sintered density decreases as increasing y in $U_{1-y}$E $r_{y}$$O_{2+x}$. However, in hydrogen atmosphere, sintered density decreases as increasing y at lower erbium content but the density increases again above y=0.10. In oxidizing sintering conditions, the formation of (Er'U')$^{x}$ clusters hinders the diffusion of cations, and hence the sinterability of Er-doped U $O_2$ decreases. In reducing atmosphere of Er-doped U $O_2$ for higher Er concent, the oxygen vacancies make (Er')$^{x}$ cluster decompose by charge compensation and the concentration of mobile cations increases, thereby improving the sinterability.ntration of mobile cations increases, thereby improving the sinterability.ability.

We studied chemical reactio of Eu metal on the in situ cleaved CdTe(110) surface by pphotoemission sppectroscoppy using synchrotron radiation. The chamber was maintained with base ppressure $\leq$2${\times}$10-10 mb during the expperiment. The expperiment was carried out in pphoton Factory in Jappan. Core level pphotoemission sppectroscoppy was carried out with Al K${\alpha}$ Line. The CdTe simiconductor was determined to be pp-typpe with low dopping concentration from Hall measurement. We found that there are two reacted pphases of Te with Eu (related to divalent Eu and trivalent Eu, resppectively) from least square fitting of Te 4d sppectra, but three is no indication of Cd reaction. Trivalent Eu exists after roughly one monolayer depposition (600 sec. depposition time is considered as one monolayer), which is also observed at Eu 3d core level sppectra. Overlayer Eu is metallized after roughly 2 monolayers depposition, as can be deduced from the fact that metallic edge near Fermi level begins to appear. The intensity of core-level of Te decreases expponentially at the initial stage (near one monolayer) and after one monolayer depposition it decreases more slowly due to Te out-diffusion. We categorized the growth mode of Eu on CdTe as S-K growth mode (cluster formation after one monolayer deppisition) from the relative intensity pplot of Te 4d normalized to the cleaved surface. At cleaved surface band bending is already established due to surface defects. At first 100 sec. depposition time the shift toward lower binding side by 0.6 eV is found at all core level sppectra of all elements in semiconductor. This shift is considered as the re-adjustment of surface Fermi level to the pposition induced by Eu metal (0.2 eV above the valence band maximum).
Due to the rapid progress of globalization, fierce international competition, a declining population, low birth rate and aging population, deficit in a difficult situation at home and abroad, Japan's local governments expand internal and external alliances and partnerships to maximize the economic benefits to the region seeking to enable in the region have efficient allocation of human and material resources through industry support, funding, and administrative efficiency for the purpose of speeding up the formation of a mega regional economies. Union of Kansai Government implements, especially in the wide area of industrial clusters, economic policy need to comprehensive planning and growth strategy such as adjusting the growth strategy attempts to promote the local economy and to enable investment planning and coordination within the current mega regions, These roles are further improving and upgrading their importance of mega regional phase in Japan's regional economic policy.
This study was conducted to develop the efficient propagation method of fern Phyllitis scolopendrium using In vitro culture. The influence of the origin of the donor explant sources (rhizome, stipe, three parts of blade) and the homogenization of explants was investigated. Rhizome and stipe explants showed the organogenic capacity among the five explant sources and plant regeneration was promoted by homogenization of culture material. Optimum condition for vigorous and excellent growth of multiple shoots was the half-strength MS medium with 1% sucrose concentration. Generally, addition of $NaH_2PO_4$ to media enhanced shoot multiplication. The highest rate of shoot proliferation was observed on the media containing $5{\mu}M$ NAA. Also, combination of activated charcoal $(0.1{\sim}0.2%)$ and growth regulators to growth medium prevented the formation of multiple bud primordia, 'nodule'-like bud clusters and improved the normal morphogenesis of sporopytes in P. scolopendrium.
Globular clusters (GCs) are known to be one of the oldest objects in the Milky Way. Therefore the dynamical informations of GCs are very important to understand the formation and evolution of our Galaxy. Motion of GCs in the halo of Galaxy can be traced by radial velocities of individual stars and proper motions of GCs. Measuring the radial velocities of stars in GCs has been challenging for decades because the brightness of stars (even for the brightest stars) in GCs are too faint (V>14) to measure the radial velocities. The available large telescopes (D>4m) enable us to observe the spectra of stars in the red giant branch of GCs, and it is now more plausible to measure the radial velocities of stars in GCs. On the contrary it is still very difficult to measure the sky-projected two-dimensional motion of GCs in Galaxy even with the large telescopes because the distance to GCs is quite large (~10kpc) compared to the spatial resolution of present-day large ground-based telescopes. Instruments on-board Hubble Space Telescope are ideal to study the proper motion of GCs thanks to their extremely high spatial resolution (~0.05arcsec). We report a study of proper motion of NGC 104, one of the most metal-rich Milky Way GCs, based-on archival images of NGC 104 observed using HST/ACS. Using the stars in Small Magellanic Cloud as reference coordinate, we are able to measure the proper motions of individual stars in NGC 104 with a high precision. We discuss the internal dynamics of stars in NGC 104 by comparing proper motion results based-on shorter (<1yr) and longer (~7yrs) time durations.
The purpose of this study is to explore a spatial agglomeration characteristics and innovative milieu of the shoemaking industry in Seoul. In order to explain it, currently discussed dynamic agglomeration economies approach is applied and as an example, shoemaking industry in Seoul has been analyzed. The result of this research can be boardly summarized into two points. Frist, agglomeration economy is changing from urbanization economy to localization economy in this newly rising core of shoemaking industry which is Sung-Su dong area. Also, cooperative effects based on collective efficiency between companies and people are being generated within the area. This is largely affected by networking infrastructure between companies and people within the area, non-trade dependency and social capital acclamation. Secondly, the lack of institutional agglomeration formation in this area is considered to be the obstacle for the long-term development and innovation spin-off. This means recognition switch-over and institutional concern and support is needed in the future from the public sector.
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) survives in acidic and fluctuating pH conditions of the stomach. The pH effect on H. pylori proteins is important for the advanced understanding of its evolution and viability, although this bacterium has the molecular machinery that neutralizes the acidic condition. HP1492 is known as a conserved NifU-like protein from H. pylori. NifU is a nitrogen fixation protein that mediates the transfer of iron-sulfur (Fe-S) cluster to iron-sulfur proteins like ferredoxin. Commonly, the monomeric reduced state of NifU can be converted to the dimeric oxidized state by intermolecular disulfide bond formation. Because it remains unclear that HP1492 actually behaves as known NifU protein, we first found that this protein can adopt both oxidized and reduced forms using size exclusion chromatography. Circular dichroism experiment showed that HP1492 is relatively well-structured at pH 6.5, compared to other pH conditions. On the basis of the backbone resonance assignment of HP1492, we further characterized the residues that are sensitive to pH using NMR spectroscopy. These residues showing large chemical shift changes could be mapped onto the secondary structure of the protein. Our results could provide the foundation for structural and biophysical studies on a wide spectrum of NifU proteins.

While the biosynthetic gene cluster encoding the pigmented antibiotic actinorhodin is present in the two closely related bacterial species, Streptomyces lividans and Streptomyces coelicolor, it normally is expressed only in S. coelicolor---generating the deep blue colonies responsible for the S. coelicolor name. However, multiple copies of the afsR2 gene, which activates actinorhodin synthesis, result in the ability of S. lividansto also synthesize large amounts of actinorhodin. Here we report that the phenotypic property that historicially distinguishes these two Streptomycesspecies is determined conditionally by the carbon source used for culture. Whereas growth on glucose repressed actinorhodin production in S. lividans, culture on solid media containing glycerol as the sole carbon source dramatically increased the expression of afsR2 mRNA---leading to extensive actinorhodin synthesis by S. lividansand obliterating its phenotypic distinction from S. coelicolor. afsR2 transcription under these conditions was developmentally regulated, rising sharply at the time of aerial mycelium formation and coinciding temporally with the onset of actinorhodin production. Our results, which identify media-dependent parallel pathways that regulate actinorhodin synthesis in S. lividans, demonstrate carbon source control of actinorhodin production through the regulation of afsR2 mRNA synthesis. The nucleotide sequences of afsR2 revealed two putative important domains; the domain containing direct repeats in the middle and the domain homologous to sigma factor sequence in the C-terminal end. In this work, we constructed various sized afsR2-derivatives and compared the actinorhodin stimulating effects in S. lividans TK21. The experimental data indicate that the domain homologous to sigma factor sequence in the C-terminal end of afsR2 plays a critical role as an antibiotic stimulating function. In addition, we also observed that the single copy integration of afsR2 regulatory gene into S. lividans TK21 chromosome significantly activates antibiotic overproduction.
The epothilones are a class of microtubule inhibitors that exhibit a strong antitumor activity. UTD2 is a novel epothilone analog generated by genetic manipulation of the polyketide biosynthetic gene cluster. This study investigated the effects of UTD2 on the actin cytoskeleton and its critical regulators, and the signaling pathways which are essential for cell motility, growth and survival in MCF-7 breast cancer cells. Results showed that UTD2 inhibited the cellular functions of actin cytoskeleton, such as wound-closure, migration and invasion, as well as adhesion. Our study further demonstrated that UTD2 suppressed Rac1 GTPase activation and reduced the activity of PAK1, which is a downstream effector of Rac1, while the activity of Cdc42 was not affected. Additionally, the phosphorylation of p38 and ERK were significantly inhibited, but the phosphorylation of JNK remained the same after UTD2 treatment. Moreover, UTD2 inhibited the activity and mRNA expression of MMP-2, which plays a key role in cell motility. UTD2 also reduced the phosphorylation of Akt, which is an important signaling kinase regulating the cell survival through Rac1. Furthermore, UTD2 interrupted the synergy between Rac1 and Raf in focus formation assays. Taken together, these results indicated that UTD2 exerted multiple effects on the actin cytoskeleton and signaling pathways associated with Rac1. This study provided novel insights into the molecular mechanism of the antineoplastic and antimetastatic activities of epothilones. Our findings also suggest that the signaling pathways regulated by Rac1 may be evaluated as biomarkers for the response to therapy in clinical trials of epothilones.
