The clumping factor of the inter-galactic medium (IGM) is one of the most important quantities that determine the process of cosmic reionization. However, theoretical attempts to make predictions about the clumping factor have been hampered by finite resolutions of the simulations, because small-scale structures in the IGM were under-resolved. We use high-resolution (~10 pc), cosmological radiation-hydrodynamic simulations, SPHINX, to estimate the clumping factor in the IGM. We find that the global clumping factors (CHII>3) are higher than previously estimated (CHII=3), indicating that resolving the small structures is indeed crucial to accurately model the reionization history of the Universe. We also discuss the local clumping factors, which should be useful to make predictions about the local ionization histories with analytic methods.

Both the electrically positive and negative particles in a cell of quick response-liquid powder display (QR-LPD) are surrounded by conductive electrodes on the upper and lower substrate and the dielectric materials of the barrier ribs. Particles in a cell are attached to or detached from the other materials by image force, electric field, Coulomb's force, and Van der Waals' force. Through these forces, the moving particles form an image but induce clumping phenomena. Particles having a large kinetic energy by a large q/m value crash into the opposite electrode with high speed at a large driving voltage and quickly lose electrically charged material. As a result, these particles are clumped and degrade panel performance. The clumped particles in a cell are observed by microscopic photographs and ascertained by a response time. When the bias voltage is increased to 0.68-0.76 $V/{\mu}m$, particle clumping occurs abruptly and the response time increases sharply. This particle clumping is similarly observed after the number of driving times at the driving voltage (0.42-0.64 $V/{\mu}m$).
This study focused on manufacturing an inorganic insulation material set with various amounts of calcium-sulfoaluminate (CSA) (hauyne) content for enhancing both workability (demolding, handling) and the high thermal insulating property. To carry out the experiment, the amounts of CSA utilized were 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%, with anhydrous gypsum added in equal proportion to produce a stable formation. As the content of CSA increased, a sinking phenomenon occurred because of the hydration reaction from the slurry, so it was difficult to utilize a retarder normally used in the cement manufacturing process. However, an RCOOM surfactant was able to solve the local clumping problem from cement and CSA and obtain a rapid retarding effect, so it was included in this process at 0.3%. Furthermore, the cement fineness was not 7000 ㎠/g but rather 3300 ~ 4000 ㎠/g to prevent a rapid temperature increase in the slurry. The specific gravity of the sample manufactured with 20% CSA was approximately 0.11 g/㎤, and its thermal conductivity was 0.041 W/m·K, providing an excellent insulating property.
This study was conducted to understand the settlement process of Ascotis selenaria larvae into citrus orchards with respect to oviposition site and analysis of the spatial distribution pattern of the larvae. A. selenaria eggs were not found on citrus trees in field and green house, but not on citrus trees in the field. A. selenaria larvae showed a significant clump distribution in the greenhouse. In the open citrus field, the index of dispersion was around 1.0 in most cases, with a weak clumping degree. However, the d-statistic was between -1.96 and 1.96, indicating a statistically significant random distribution. In addition, the Green's index (a clumping index) was very low in all cases, even though the clump distribution was accepted. for most samples, the probability distribution of larval frequency in the field satisfied the probability distribution functions of Poisson (random pattern) and the negative binomial (clump pattern) distribution. In addition, the temporal distribution of the larvae in the open field showed a pattern which was formed by colonizers from outside oviposition sites. Further, the difference in larval spatial distribution between field and greenhouse orchards was discussed.
To investigate ultrastructural characteristics of cancer cells of the nervous system, 25 cases; i.e. astrocytoma(9), oligodendroglioma(1), medulloblastoma(1), meningioma(5), pinealoma(2) and pituitary adenomas(7). The common findings were marked irregularity of nuclear membrane with pronounced infoldings, clumping of heterochromatin along inner nuclear membrane, enlargement of nucleolus, and frequent observations of nuclear bodies and nuclear inclusions. But these findings are also the signs that can be observed in hyperactive cells. Thus, ultrastructural characteristics of cancerous nucleus are the great variability of nuclear size, shape and composition. but none of them appear to be specific. Among cytoplasmic organelles, massive fibrils are characteristic of astrocytoma and meningiomas, cytoplasmic protofibrils such as glial process and microvesicles in oligodendroglioma, secretory granules are characteristic in pituitary adenomas, and fine filamentous fibrils and desmosomes are characteristic of fibroblastic type of meningioma. Intercellular relationships and cell membrane specialization are important features in the differential diagnosis of various undifferentiated tumors. The frequent resolution of difficult diagnosis problems by electron microscopy outweighs the disadvantages of this technique, such as the expense and time required.
Spatial point-patterns analyses were conducted to provide insight into the ecological process behind competition and mortality in two lodgepole pine (Pinus contorta Dougl. ex Loud. var. latifolia Engelm.) stands, one in the Lower Foothills, and the other in the Upper Foothills natural subregions in the boreal forest of Alberta, Canada. Spatial statistical tests were applied to live and dead trees and included Clark-Evans nearest neighbor statistic (R), nearest neighbor distribution function (G(r)), and a variant of Ripley's K function (L(r)). In both lodgepole pine plots, the results indicated that there was significant regularity in the spatial point-pattern of the surviving trees which indicates that competition has been a key driver of mortality and forest dynamics in these plots. Dead trees generally showed a clumping pattern in higher density patches. There were also significant bivariate relationships between live and dead trees, but the relationships differed by natural subregion. In the Lower Foothills plot there was significant attraction between live and dead tees which suggests mainly one-sided competition for light. In contrast, in the Upper Foothills plot, there was significant repulsion between live and dead trees which suggests two-sided competition for soil nutrients and soil moisture.
All coal ash, generated from coal-fired power plants, is entirely dumped onto a landfill site. As coal ash contains 80% fly ash, a clean floating process was developed in this study to recover useful components from coal ash and to use them as high value-added industrial materials. When the unburned carbon (UC) was recovered from the fly ash, soybean oil, an eco-friendly vegetable oil, was used as collector instead of a non-ionic kerosene collector to prevent the occurrence of odor from the kerosene. After the UC was separated by flotation, particulate ceramic microsphere (CM) was recovered, without generating acidic wastewater, through hydro-cyclone instead of sulfuric acid solution in order to separate ceramic microsphere (CM) and cleaned ash (CA) from the residue. By utilizing soybean oil as a collector, the recovery rate of UC turned high at 85.8% due to the increased adsorption of UC, the high viscosity of soybean oil, and the increase in floating properties caused by the linoleic acid contained in soybean oil. All of the combustible components contained in the recovered UC were carbon components, with the carbon content registering high when soybean oil was used. The recovered UC had many pores with a rough surface; thus, it could be easily ground and then used as an industrial material for its fine particles. The CM and CA recovered by the clean separation process using hydro-cyclone had a spherical shape, and the particles were clearly separated without clumping together. The average diameter (D50) of the particles was 5 ㎛, so it was possible to realize the atomization of CM through a process change.

To provide broadband ISDN service for the users in scattered locations, the application of satellite communications network is seriously considered. To trans mit ATM cells efficiently in satellite communications, it is effective to use TDM A method. However, it is necessary to have a method to compensate the cell delayvari-ation caused by the difference between TDMA and ATM. This paper optimized the cell control time(Tc) when traffic inputs have poisson or markov modulated poisson process by applying cell delay variation characteristics of time stamp method, which has the most advantages among compensation methods or cell delay variation. This paper also intorduces a method of reducing the cell clumping phenomena by adapting discrete time stamp method, including the analysis and evalutation of the range of required quality of CDV distribution by ATM transmission. The result of the experiment shows that CDV distribution-range can be controlled to 1.2$\times$Tc which reduces overall cell delay variation by discrrete time stamp method.
