  • Real life problems can be expressed as a congruence modulus n and split into a system of congruence equations in modulus factors of n. A system of congruence equations can be combined into a congruence equation under certain conditions. This paper uniquely presents and critically reviews the generalized Chinese Remainder Theorem (CRT) for combining systems of congruence equations into single congruence equations. Sequential and parallel implementation strategies of the generic CRT are outlined. A variety of unique applications of the CRT are discussed.

  • This article presents the unique characteristics of cavitation, those are very high pressure and very high temperature even in a very short time. Such the high-pressure causes the destruction of material, which sometimes brings a severe problem to fluid machinery. However, if we look the cavitation from the different direction, such the high pressure can be used to various applications. The author presents two examples of the utilization of cavitation recently done at the Toyo University. Those are 'dispersion of spilled oil' and 'killing planktons'.

  • Commercial services providing quantum cryptographic communication are available in China and the United States of America (USA), and a commercial cloud service for quantum computing is available in the USA. This has been possible since the early stage prototypes of quantum technologies have transitioned from theory to practical applications. This has led to the development of a new industrial ecosystem so that governments are announcing plans to support further research and development, new ventures are being launched, and a market is emerging. We will discuss the technological possibilities of future developments from the early-stage achievements.

  • Construction industry is considered as one of the oldest industries in the world since human came into being and the need of their own space is realized. All this led to make the world a space of many beautiful constructive ventures. As per the requirements of today's world, every industry is recognizing the need for use and adoption of modern as well as innovative technologies due to their benefits and timely production. Now construction industry has also started adopting the use of modern and innovative technologies during their projects but still the rate of adoption is so slow. From design to completion, construction projects take a lot to manage for which technology based solutions have continuously been proposed. These include Computer Aided Design (CAD), building information modeling (BIM) and cloud computing have been proved to be much successful until now. The construction projects are high budgeted, and direly require timely and successful completion with quality, resource and other constraints. So, the researchers observe the need of more clear and technology based communication between the construction projects and its constructors and other stakeholders is required before and during the construction to take timely precautions for expected issues. This study has analyzed the use of Augmented Reality (AR) technology adopting GammaAR, and ARki applications in construction industry. It has been found that both applications are light-weighted, upgradable, provide offline availability and collaborative environment as well as fulfil most of the requirements of the construction industry except the cost. These applications also support different screen size for better visualization and deep understanding. Both applications are analyzed, based on construction's application requirements, usability of AR and ratings of applications user collected from application's platform. The purpose of this research is to provide a detail insight of construction applications which are using AR to facilitate both the future developers and consumers.

  • Introduction of lidar technology have contributed to a wide range of applications in generating quality surface models. Accordingly, because of the importance of terrain surface models in mapping applications, rigorous studies have been performed to extract ground points from a lidar data point cloud. Although most filters have been shown abilities to extract ground points with their parameters tuned, however, most experiments revealed that there are certain limitations in optimizing filter parameters and the correction of remaining misclassified points is not straightforward. In this study, therefore, a method to improve the quality of filtered lidar data is proposed, which exploits neighboring surface properties arising between immediate neighbors. The method comprises a sequence of procedures which can reduce commission and omission errors. Commission errors occurring in low-rise objects are reduced by utilizing morphological operations. On the other hand, omission errors are reduced by adding missing ground points around step edges. Experimental results show that the qualities of filtered data can be improved considerably by the proposed method.

  • The big data term refers to the great volume of data and complicated data structure with difficulties in collecting, storing, processing, and analyzing these data. Big data analytics refers to the operation of disclosing hidden patterns through big data. This information and data set cloud to be useful and provide advanced services. However, analyzing and processing this information could cause revealing and disclosing some sensitive and personal information when the information is contained in applications that are correlated to users such as location-based services, but concerns are diminished if the applications are correlated to general information such as scientific results. In this work, a survey has been done over security and privacy challenges and approaches in big data. The challenges included here are in each of the following areas: privacy, access control, encryption, and authentication in big data. Likewise, the approaches presented here are privacy-preserving approaches in big data, access control approaches in big data, encryption approaches in big data, and authentication approaches in big data.

  • As computing technology advances, many services, including AI, that previously operated in the cloud will become usable on devices that users carry. The emergence of ultra-high-speed mobile networks like 5G dramatically increases the utility of numerous devices in the real world. In the future, with technologies like deviceless computing, the range of applications will diversify even further, and demand will continue to grow. Consequently, the importance of technology for monitoring vast amounts of device information and deploying AI services tailored to the functions and performance of each device is becoming increasingly evident. Therefore, this paper proposes a large-scale edge device monitoring technique necessary to leverage simple sensors and low-spec, low-resource devices in conjunction with Multi-access Edge Computing (MEC) to provide various AI functionalities.

  • High-performing architecture should be designed by taking into account the mutual dependency between the new building and the local context. The performative architecture plays an important role to avert any unforeseen failures after the building has been built; particularly ones related to the microclimate impacts that affect the human comfort. The use of the concept of solar envelopes helps designers to construct the developable mass of the building design considering the solar access and the site obstruction. However, the current analysis method using solar envelopes lack in terms of integrating the detailed information of the existing context during the simulation process. In architectural design, often the current site modelling not only absent in preserving the complex geometry but also information on the surface characteristics. Currently, the emerging applications of point clouds offer a great possibility to overcome these limitations, since they include the attribute information such as XYZ as the position information and RGB as the color information. This study particularly presents a comparative analysis between the manually built 3D models and the models generated from the point cloud data. The modelling comparisons focus on the relevant factors of solar radiation and a set of simulation to calculate the performance indicators regarding selected portions of the models. The experimental results emphasize an introduction of the design approach and the dataset visibility of the 3D existing environments. This paper ultimately aims at improving the current architectural decision of support environment means, by increasing the correspondence between the digital models for performance analysis and the real environments (context of design) during the conceptual design phase.
