The questionnaires are administered to 493 female and male adults above 20 years old in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, Daegu and Kyungpook regions. For analysis of data from 478 respondents, descriptive statistics, cluster analysis, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, ANOVA, Duncan test and ${\chi}^2$ test were applied. We show the following results. First, Factor analyses were employed for the clothing consumption values and appearance management behaviors. Six factors were for clothing consumption values: Individuality, appearance attractive, social, functional, conditional and fashion clothing consumption value. Four factors were for appearance management behaviors: weight training, skin care, hair care, make-up and clothing selection. According to clothing consumption values, four groups were classified: the passive, functional, social, and active group. We did cluster analysis to the appearance management behaviors of weight training, skin care, hair care, make-up and clothing selection. Second, the social and active groups were more interested in individuality, appearance attractive, social, functional, conditional and fashion clothing value. And they were also more involved in appearance management behaviors. Third, among the demographic variables, the single and female in 20s and 30s with higher level of education belonged to the active group. • This study aimed to investigate the associations between clothing consumption values and the ambivalent clothing consuming behavior of young female adults. To explain the ambivalent consuming behavior prevailing in the contemporary fashion market, five dimensional consumption values proposed by Sheth(1991) were adopted as explanatory factors, and fashion leadership and spending were included as moderating factors. Data collecting using written survey instrument yielded one hundred and seventy two complete responses from female consumers aged between 20 and 39. Factor analysis on clothing consumption values resulted in five dimensional structures of consumption values for the sample: expressive, epistemic, functional, social, and fashionable values. Among these, expressive, functional, and social values significantly affected ambivalent consuming behavior. The effect of expressive value was strong regardless of fashion innovativeness, opinion-leadership, and monthly income of consumers, however, the effects of epistemic, functional, and social values were changed depending on the moderating factors.

  • As an emerging market with rapid economic growth, while being a key region of the K-culture expansion, Vietnam draws increasing scientific attention. This study focuses on the MZ generation, Vietnam's leading consumer group, revealing their consumption value structure. An online survey was used for data collection purposes, investigating 368 Vietnamese consumers between 18-37 years of age. Six value dimensions were derived as results of the present analysis: functional, emotional, social, ethical, self-expression, and autonomy-oriented value. Among them, functional value includes two sub-dimensions of utility and price, while emotional value entails three sub-dimensions, namely hedonism, novelty, and aesthetics. 'Self-expression value' and 'autonomy-oriented value', reflecting the characteristics of the MZ generation, who actively express themselves and respect proactive decision-making, are becoming important standards of the consumption attitude of young Vietnamese. Moreover, the pursuit of 'novelty' was derived as a factor reflecting emotional values, revealing an association between hedonic consumption, and seeking for newness and difference. Furthermore, the relationships between each consumption value dimension, respective demographic characteristics, and global consumption propensity were investigated. The present findings aim to provide insights into young Vietnamese consumers' attitudes and intend to serve as a foundation for future research.

  • This study investigates the effects of clothing consumption values and subjective age on fashion adoption. To explain the fashion adoption of elderly women, 5 dimensional consumption values were adopted as explanatory factors, and subjective age is included as a moderating factor. This study tested the relationship of variables with survey data from a convenient sample of elderly women. A total of 235 complete responses were obtained from women between 50 and 71 years of age. The results are as follows. First, factor analysis on clothing consumption values resulted in 5 dimensional structures of consumption values for the sample (epistemic, symbolic, harmonic, popular, and practical values). A factor analysis on subjective age resulted in 2 dimensions (physical and mental age). Second, epistemic, popular, harmonic (-) and symbolic values (except practical value) significantly affected fashion adoption. Third, the epistemic value was the strongest factor regardless of physical and mental age but the effects of epistemic, popular, harmonic, symbolic, and practical values changed depending on the level of the moderating factor.

  • Retailers deploy new shopping value-additions to induce customers to shop more, thus driving compulsive buying tendencies, which lead to increased profits for them. Customers display their ambivalence in purchasing a product either through instantaneous consumption, such as when following the latest fashion trends, or methodical decision making. The aim of this study is to investigate the influence of consumers' ambivalent attitudes toward various aspects (brand, store, price, trends, and product types) of clothing shopping on compulsive behavior tendencies. Compulsive buying tendencies were analyzed in terms of the shopping value group and demographic characteristics. For the empirical research, a questionnaire was used. Data from male and female clothing shoppers were analyzed. Consumers were segmented into ambivalent consumption group, emotional value consumption group, rationality consumption group, and indifference consumption group. Results indicate that ambivalent consumption groups showed significantly higher levels of compulsive behavior tendencies in terms of brand, store, price, trends, and product types than other groups. Females showed more compulsive buying tendencies than males. Single people showed more compulsive buying tendencies than married.
