The goal of this study was to investigate the impacts of customer satisfaction, store image, and switching barrier on store loyalty of the clothes shops at a large-scale discount store. The subjects were 357 female adults living in Suncheon City, Jeollanam Province. The questionnaires were conveniently sampled from June 1 to 30, 2006. The collected data were factor and reliability analyzed using the SPS program. And LISREL was used to test and evaluate the relationships between the constructs through confirmatory factor analysis and covariance structure analysis. Among the six hypotheses set in the research model, total four were selected through empirical analysis and the rest two were rejected. The analysis results were useful in making a conceptual model that could keep the simplicity about store loyalty and had increased explanatory power. Thus it turned out the deciding factors of store loyalty for the clothes shop at a discount store were customer satisfaction and switching barrier rather than store image. Customer satisfaction had the biggest influences on store loyalty among the expected variables. Considering the direct impacts of switching barrier on store loyalty, it's important to work on switching barrier along with customer satisfaction in order to maintain the customers' store loyalty. The efforts to identify the various factors of store loyalty in addition to switching barrier, customer satisfaction, and store image will lead to such marketing strategies as can vitalize the clothes shops at a large discount store.
The purpose of this study was to empirically examine the effects of salespeople's self-determination, shared value; and communication satisfaction on their job satisfaction, organizational commitment, and turnover intention in a fashion company. Questionnaires were administered to 475 salespeople who worked in fashion shop at the time of the study. The data was analyzed via factor analysis, correlation analysis, and a structural equation model. The results indicated that self-determination was extracted as autonomy, competence, and relatedness. Only the relatedness of self-determination factors was positively correlated with formal and informal communication satisfaction. In addition, recognizing hared value was positively correlated with formal and informal communication satisfaction; whereas, the practice of shared value was positively correlated with formal, but not informal communication satisfaction. Formal communication satisfaction was significantly correlated with job satisfaction and organizational commitment. Conversely, informal communication satisfaction was significantly correlated with job satisfaction, but was not related to organizational commitment. Finally, job satisfaction was significantly correlated with organizational commitment and negatively correlated with turnover intention. Moreover, organizational commitment was negatively correlated with turnover intention. The implications of this research for human resources management within fashion companies are discussed in the concluding section of this paper.
The purpose of this study is to identify the SPA(Specialty store retailer of Private label Apparel) characteristics and product supply process of Korean casual apparel brands. The research was conducted by questionnaire surveys to 63 casual apparel brands. SPA characteristics of each brand were measured with four SPA characteristic indices: short product supply cycle, spacious retail floor, single brand retail store, and low product price compared to the quality of the product. The 63 apparel brands were grouped by SPA index score. The brands belonged to group H had high index score and brands in group L had low index score. The results of this study showed that the most of the casual apparel brands' products were sold at department stores, especially the brands belonged to group L greatly depended on department stores. Few apparel brands have spacious retail floor. The retail product price of the brands belonged to group H was low price while the product price of the brands belonged to group L was in the medium-high price. The supply time of the new products was short in general. The most brands supplied new styles to the retail floor within 1 to 3 weeks. The information technology was heavily used. The brands belonged to group H highly used information technology including bar codes system, pas data analysis, and inventory control system. The current style trends were analyzed with street fashion and feedback from the shop managers.
The purpose of this study is to analyse the successful modernization strategy, and the difference between original Burberry and Burberry Prosum design. This will help in providing the fundamental information to Korean luxury fashion brands. Burberry, in particular, is rated as the most popular luxury brand in Korean fashion market. This brand has also rated 5th in sale worldwide and 1st in Korea in 2002, and was continuously been rated in 10th for the last 5 years. Related articles, fashion magazines, fashion web-site were used in this analysis, and the method was theoretical and case study. The results are divided into two categories of internal and external factors and two design patterns of check pattern and trench coat were observed. First of all, internal factor in Burberry is that they have scouted a new CEO and quickly changed their image with famous British models for the purpose of marketing strategies. They have also moved their main shop in London to Bond street, and opened shops in every country's capital cities. They were successful in achieving this by using celebrity marketing strategies with many famous celebrities. Secondly, external factor was that they have hired a designer named Christoper Bailey and this highlighted and enhanced the check pattern and trench coat. As a results, more generalized and diverse design items were presented and accessory line was enhanced, creating a much more younger image. This in turn attracted more younger customers. To sum up, original Burberry focused on classic designs, however Burberry Prosum focused on transforming traditional Burberry design into avant-garde and young. In other words, the reason for the success of this brand is highly dependent on its marketing strategies in which its uniqueness of schizophrenic cloche has appropriately represented and used in design.
The purpose of this study examines difference of cunsumer satisfaction by expected selection attribute of wedding dress and bride make-up. It is looking into influencing variables in consumer satisfaction, and is supplying real information to wedding market. The subjects of this study were 241 women getting married within one year of Daegu. The data were analyzed by using frequency, mean, the standard deviation, ANOVA, duncan test, correlation analysis, cross-analysis. Conclusion obtained from the results and discussions of the research are as follows: 1) In the attribution of expected selection according to occupation, blue-collar women are concerned about cost factor but they are low content with the perceptual satisfaction factor. 2) When selecting places for wedding dresses and wedding make-up, in the attribute of expected selection about the number of visiting the shop for wedding dresses and make-up, people who visit over 7 dress shops are highly interested in the appearance fancy degree, advertisements effect factors. But they are concerned with advertisements effect factor, cost factor in the perceptual satisfaction factor about wedding dress. Besides, the more they get chances to visit many dress shops, they are concerned with advertisements, cost factors, and satisfied with both the effect of advertisements and appearance factor degree in the attribution of expected selection about wedding make-up. 3) In the attribution of expected selection about the cost of wedding dresses and make-up, the lower the cost paid, people are interested in price factor. Furthermore, in the attribution of expected selection about the wedding dress and make-up cost, those who spent over 150 million Won are interested in quality, others influence factor, and the case of less than 120~150 million Won, people are highly interested in the appearance fancy degree, advertisements effect factor, and the women are satisfied with the advertisement effect factor in the perceptual satisfaction factor of wedding make-up.
This research aims to develop cultural products for professional sales after producing creative products utilizing dinosaur characters, which are the representative exhibited item of dinosaur-centered museum. There are seven museums in Korea whose theme is dinosaur. There are three dinosaur museums among them, Goseong Dinosaur Museum at Kyungnam, Mokpo Natural History Museum, and Seodaemun Museum of Natural History. While inspecting cultural products within the museum shops of these three museums, general products occupy more than 80% of all the products rather than products related to dinosaurs, and has a problem that most products are decorative ones. This resulted from that enterprises supplying these products are not professional ones and are irrelevent to cultural industry; as result, purpose of conveying culture through products is lost. This research develops dinosaur characters utilizing computer 3D techniques in order to imbue unique characteristics to dinosaur museums and informing cultural speciality of our country. In addition, this research presented design method of cultural products by grafting traditional symbols onto these characters, and actually produced 11 items of 5 kinds: toys(dolls), clothes(T-shirts, pajamas, socks), stationery(notebooks, memo), accessaries (bags, umbrellas, handkerchief), and others(cups). On the items above, dinosaur characters are variously utilized in form of printing, embroidery, and stickers by using computer 3D technique. A cultural product is a tangible form which could show variety of cultural characteristics of our nation that could spread the culture through the consumers, and such type of purchasing could increase values of cultural industry by creating economic profits; such points are the significance of this study.
The purpose of this study is to explore the applicability of QFD to product development of clothes by empirically applying it to development of a specific clothes, middle and elderly women’s formal knitwear. The voices of customers(VOCs) for formal knitwear was collected through in-depth interviews with 25 customers, shop masters, and designers. Also, questionnaires of which respondents were 230 customers were used to rank the importance of the items of VOC. A QFD team of 10 knitwear experts implemented the task of translating VOCs into design attributes and measuring the values of the relationships between VOCs and design attributes. Importance ranking of the items of design attributes was obtained based on Lyman's method. The results of this study were as follows. First, the customer requirements for formal knitwear were classified into five dimensions, that is, symbolism, aesthetic, fitness, usefulness, and maintenance. Second, the descending order of the necessity of improving the quality was maintenance, aesthetic, fitness, usefulness, and symbolism. Third, three-staged design attributes were obtained as a result of translating of VOCs into design attributes. Lastly, the descending order of the importance of design attributes was "sorts of yarn", "sorts of color jacquard", "color", "tone", "ease", etc.
The purpose of this study is to analyze characteristics and marketing strategies of the British, French and Italian luxury fashion brands. The subjects of this study are 27 fashion brands which have more than 50 years of tradition and are also members of the Walpole, Comit$\acute{e}$ Colbert, and Altagamma. The common marketing strategies of the luxury fashion brands were; the renewals in the product concept which harmonized traditional elements with modern elements which are designed to meet the needs of new target consumers, the renewals in the promotion such as the large scale of advertising, the frequent publications about the brands, sponsorship of events, the renewals and expansion of distribution channels in global fashion cities, the opening of flagship shop and the renovation of existing shops. Simultaneous renewals in product concepts, in promotion and in distribution will be an effective marketing strategy. Also, a continuous investment in renewal strategies is a key to the success of luxury fashion brand renewals.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the various types of styles and characteristics of Japanese street fashion since the 1990's. The primary source of data has been a collection of visual materials which include snapshots of young men and women in the Japanese street scene starting in the 1990's. To approach the Japanese street fashion comprehensively, I have divided the background of the Japanese fashion into three parts: 1. The birth of various fashion markets like the Dankai junior generation, Hetauma generation and Shinjinrui junior generation. 2. The pursuit of fashion senses like the well-balanced sense of independence and commensalism, uncommon sense and sense of a tassel. 3. A boom in new fashion business types like SPA and select shop. After the 1990's, the Japanese street fashion has changed through the popularity of styles which include the conservative casual style, sexy casual style, Harajuku pop style, and 3 Re(revival, remake, recycle) fashion style. The characteristics of the Japanese street fashion reflects the performance of virtual reality, the sign of style culture, and the communication of process.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the perceived service quality according to the characteristics of beauty salons and customer demographics. 343 customers were surveyed in the areas of university campuses, central district and residential areas of Cheongju. The questionnaire consisted of the characteristics of beauty salons and customer demographics, and items to evaluate the service quality. Confirmatory factor analysis, t test, ANOVA and descriptive statistical analysis were used to analyze the data. The results were as follows; First, the preference for the number of designer in the beauty salon were differed by sex, age and occupation. Women, college and graduate students preferred the salons with over seven designers. The customers over forty years old used smaller beauty salon. Second, Female perceived higher service quality in all respects such as technique, kindness and convenience of reservation than male did. There were no difference in age groups and occupations. Third, nationally franchised shop which located in downtown with more than 20 designers were highly evaluated in view of service quality.
