Effect of age on heart rate, blood lactate concentration, packed cell volume and hemoglobin to exercise in Jeju crossbreed horses

  • Background: This study aimed to analyze the on heart rate, blood lactate concentration, packed cell volume (PCV) and hemoglobin (Hb) response after conducting exercise in endurance horses. Methods: A total of 20 healthy 3-9-years-old Jeju crossbreed mares ($5.95{\pm}2.24$ year) of age and $312.65{\pm}13.59kg$ of weight) currently participating the endurance competition were used. The field tests selected for the experiment was gallop (approximately 8.3 m/s) along the selected 2.5 km course (a natural forest trail, not artificial road; a closed loop course). The horses were divided into three groups according to their age; 3-4 years of age (G1, $3.29{\pm}0.49$ year), 6-7 years of age (G2, $6.42{\pm}0.53$), and 8-9 years of age (G3, $8.50{\pm}0.55$). The measurements times for the heart rate, blood lactate concentration, PCV, and Hb analysis were conducted before exercise (T0), shortly after exercise (T1), 15 min after exercise (T2), and 30 min after exercise (T3), respectively. Data was analyzed using an analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) for repeated measures with times and groups. Results: The results of the comparison depending on the passage of rest time after exercise suggest that the heart rate and blood lactate concentration of three groups at T2 significantly decreased compared to T1 (p < 0.001). PCV of the G2 and G3 groups were significantly decreased at T2 compared to T1 (p < 0.01). Hb values at G2 (p < 0.01) and G3 (p < 0.001) groups were significantly decreased at T2 as compared to T1. However, heart rate, blood lactate concentration, PCV and Hb level at T1 showed no difference in the comparison of horses from different age groups with the exception of G3 group in terms of heart rate. Conclusion: The physiologic and hematological responses of horses during recovery time after 2,500 m exercise with gallop were no significant difference among the groups. These data are useful as a response evaluation method for training of endurance horses.

압전유압펌프 성능실험에 대한 연구 (On the Performance Test of the Piezoelectric-Hydraulic Pump)

  • 본 논문에서는 압전재료를 이용하여 중소형 무인기 브레이크 시스템에 적용 가능한 압전유압펌프를 설계 및 제작하고, 제작된 압전유압펌프의 성능검증 실험을 수행하였다. 중소형 무인기급 목표 항공기를 선정하여 브레이크 시스템의 요구조건을 분석하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 압전유압펌프의 성능 요구조건을 선정하였다. 요구조건을 만족하는 압전유압펌프의 형상설계를 수행하였으며, 고속 동작 조건에서도 유체의 역류를 효과적으로 차단시킬 수 있는 체크밸브를 비롯한 모든 구성품을 제작하였다. 제작된 압전유압펌프의 성능검증을 위해 실험장치를 구성하여 무부하 토출특성, 부하 시 압력형성 특성실험을 수행하였다. 실험결과, 무부하 최대 토출유량은 80 Hz에서 120.04 cc/min이고, 부하 시 최대 토출압력은 140 Hz에서 783.17 psi이고, 압력형성 반응속도는 약 30 ms 이내임을 확인하였다. 이는 설계 제작된 압전유압펌프가 펌프성능 요구조건을 충족하고 있다고 판단된다.

농업경영의 가치사슬 구조에 근거한 지속가능성 연구 (A Sustainability Study Based on Farm Management Value-Chain Structure)

  • This study aimed at finding directions for Korean agriculture to establish a new paradigm of sustainable development. Various problematic issues and concerns in the environment necessitate the transformation of Korea's development paradigm from unconditional growth to "Green Growth" through new policies on green value and review of various advanced researches. In this research, the environment-friendly agriculture's problems, particularly in agribusiness were analyzed. Drawing from Michael Porter's Value Chain Analysis, this research developed a value chain model in agriculture that reflects the environment and the present situations. Future directions in the agriculture sector were also discussed. Korea realized food self-sufficiency through the green revolution in the early 1970s. However, a lot of problems have also occurred, including ground and water pollution and the destruction of ecosystems as a result of the overuse of pesticides and chemical fertilizers. In the late 1970s, the growing interest on environment-friendly agriculture led to the introduction of sustainable methods and techniques. Unfortunately however, these were not innovative enough to foster environment-friendly agriculture. Thereafter, the consumers' distrust on agricultural products has worsened and concerns about health have increased. In view of this, the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries introduced in December 1993 a system of Quality-Certified Products for organic and pesticide-free agri-foods. Although a fundamental step toward the sustainability of the global environment, this system was not enough to promote environment-friendly agriculture. In 2008, Korea's vision is for "Low Carbon Green Growth" to move forward while also coping with climate change. But primary sectors in a typical value chain do not consider the green value of their operations nor look at production from an environmental perspective. In order to attain sustainable development, there is a need to use less resources and energy than what is presently used in Korean agricultural and value production. The typical value chain should be transformed into a "closed-loop" such that the beginning and the end of the chain are linked together. Such structure allows the flow of materials, products and even wastes among participants in the chain in a sustained cycle. This may result in a zero-waste sustainable production without destroying the ecosystem.

예비설계 단계 우주발사체의 공급/추진계 모델을 이용한 포고 불안정성 예측 (Prediction of Preliminary Pogo Instability on a Space Launch Vehicle)

  • 액체추진제를 사용하는 우주 발사체의 추진제 공급 과정에서 발생할 수 있는 축방향 동적 불안정성현상을 포고라 한다. 일반적으로 포고는 발사체의 동체와 공급/추진계의 공진에 의하여 발생하고, 동체구조 및 추진 시스템이 닫힌계를 이루게 되어 응답의 진폭이 증가하였다가 감소하는 현상을 보인다. 본 논문에서는 우주왕복선을 예시로 일반적인 발사체의 체계적인 포고 해석이 가능한 수학적 모델을 개발하였다. 정식화된 수식은 발사체 공급/추진계를 2차 선형 미분 방정식 형태로 구성하고, 포고해석에 중요한 세 변수인 압력, 중량변위, 일반화된 변위를 고유치해석을 통해 도출한다. 본 논문의 정식화를 통해 발사체 포고 시스템의 수학적 모델링 기법을 획득할 수 있고, 임의의 발사체에 대하여 체계적인 포고 안정성 해석이 가능할 것으로 예측된다.

고속도로 합류구간 첨단 차로변경 보조 시스템 개발 : 최적 차로변경 시작 지점 Positioning 알고리즘 (Advanced Lane Change Assist System for Automatic Vehicle Control in Merging Sections : An algorithm for Optimal Lane Change Start Point Positioning)

  • 차로변경은 운전자의 숙련된 주변인식 및 운전기술이 요구되어 심각한 교통사고를 야기한다. 그리하여 우리는 불가피한 차로변경이 대두되는 고속도로 합류구간에서 본선으로 합류하는 차량의 차로변경을 보조하는 차량 자동제어 시스템 (ALCAS; Advanced Lane Change Assist System)을 개발한다. 본 연구에서는 ALCAS 중 조향이 수행되기 이전에 최적 차로변경 시작지점(Optimal Lane Change Start Point; OLCSP)을 생성하고 그 지점까지 도달하는 종방향 제어 알고리즘 개발에 초점을 두었다. 이를 위해 우선 고속도로 합류구간의 차로변경 행태를 분석하였고, 실제 차량의 가속도 함수 형태를 통해 차로변경 특징모형(Lane Change Feature Model)을 설계하였다. 그 후 차로변경 수행 단계를 정립하였으며, 이 알고리즘 성능과 타당성을 검증하기 위하여 다양한 주변차량 주행환경에 따른 시나리오 시험을 수행하였다. 또한 개발된 알고리즘의 효과를 미시적 교통류 시뮬레이션 (VISSIM)을 통해 확인하였다. 개발한 알고리즘을 합류차량에 적용한 결과 안정류 상태에서 합류성능이 두드러지게 개선되는 것을 확인하였다. 이 차량 자동제어 시스템은 교통 자동차 분야 융합기술의 일환으로 개발되었으며, 운전자의 부하와 오류를 감소시켜 효율성과 안전성을 향상시킬 뿐만 아니라 교통류의 안정성, 임계용량, 주행 효율성의 증대로 사회비용 감소를 기대할 수 있다.

Standard Measurement Procedure for Soil Radon Exhalation Rate and Its Uncertainty

  • Background: Radon contributing about 42% of annual average dose, mainly comes from soil. In this paper, standard measurement procedures for soil radon exhalation rate are suggested and their measurement uncertainties are analyzed. Materials and Methods: We used accumulation method for estimating surface exhalation rate. The closed-loop measurement system was made up with a RAD7 detector and a surface chamber. Radon activity concentrations in the system were observed as a function of time, with data collection of 5 and 15-minute and the measurement time of 4 hours. Linear and exponential fittings were used to obtain radon exhalation rates from observed data. Standard deviations of measurement uncertainties for two approaches were estimated using usual propagation rules. Results and Discussion: The exhalation rates (E) from linear approach, with 30 minutes measurement time were $44.8-48.6mBq{\cdot}m^{-2} {\cdot}s^{-1}$ or $2.14-2.32atom{\cdot}cm^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$ with relative measurement uncertainty of about 10%. The contributions of fitting parameter A, volume (V) and surface (S) to the estimated measurement uncertainty of E were 59.8%, 30.1% and 10.1%, in average respectively. In exponential fitting, at 3-hour measurement we had E ranged of $51.6-69.2mBq{\cdot}m^{-2} {\cdot}s^{-1}$ or $2.46-3.30atom{\cdot}cm^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$ with about 15% relative uncertainty. Fitting with 4-hour measurement resulted E about $51.3-68.2mBq{\cdot}m^{-2} {\cdot}s^{-1}$ or $2.45-3.25atom{\cdot}cm^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$ with 10% relative uncertainty. The uncertainty contributions in exponential approach were 75.1%, 13.4%, 8.7%, and 2.9% for total decay constant k, fitting parameter B, V, and S, respectively. Conclusion: In obtaining exhalation rates, the linear approach is easy to apply, but by saturation feature of radon concentrations, the slope tends to decrease away from the expected slope for extended measurement time. For linear approach, measurement time of 1-hour or less was suggested. For exponential approach, the obtained exhalation rates showed similar values for any measurement time, but measurement time of 3-hour or more was suggested for about 10% relative uncertainty.

GPS/DR기반의 차상열차위치검지방안 연구 (The study on scheme for train position detection based on GPS/DR)

  • 정밀한 열차제어를 위해서는 열차위치의 정확한 검지가 반드시 필요하다. 현재 일반적으로 널리 사용되고 있는 열차검지방법은 궤도회로를 이용하는 방법이다. 궤도회로는 구성이 단순하며, 신뢰성이 확보되는 장점이 있다. 하지만 열차는 궤도회로 위에서만 검지가 가능하므로 모든 지상구간에 궤도회로를 설치해야하며 설치 및 유지보수에 많은 비용이 소모된다. 또한 궤도회로는 폐전로 구성의 특성 때문에 불연속적인 위치검지만이 가능하다. 최근 통신기술의 발달과 차상제어장치의 첨단화에 따라 열차의 위치검지는 열차에서 직접 검지하는 방법들이 연구되고 있다. 차상중심의 위치검지방식은 열차의 위치, 속도, 시각정보를 연속적으로 측정하여 열차의 제어정보로 사용하는 방식이다. 이러한 차상중심의 위치검지방식은 무선기반 열차제어 및 자기부상열차제어와 같이 궤도회로의 사용을 최소화 하는 최근 열차제어시스템의 개발동향이다. 본 논문에서는 GPS항법 및 DR항법의 특징을 분석하고 GPS항법과 DR항법의 단점을 보완하는 구조를 가지는 GPS/DR기반의 차상열차위치검지방식을 제안하였다. 항법오차의 추정자로서 3차윈 위치 오차, 자세각 오차, 타코메타 환산계수 오차를 상태변수로 하는 5차 칼만필터를 사용하여 최적의 위치오차 및 DR항법용 센서의 오차 추정이 가능하도록 필터를 설계하였으며 모의시험을 통해 GPS/DR기반의 차상열차위치검지장치의 위치추정성능을 확인하였다.

급성 폐손상 환자에서 Adaptive Support Ventilation 적용 시 호흡지표의 양상 (Evaluation of Respiratory Parameters in Patients with Acute Lung Injury Receiving Adaptive Support Ventilation)

  • Background: Adaptive support ventilation (ASV), an automated closed-loop ventilation mode, adapts to the mechanical characteristics of the respiratory system by continuous measurement and adjustment of the respiratory parameters. The adequacy of ASV was evaluated in the patients with acute lung injury (ALI). Methods: A total of 36 patients (19 normal lungs and 17 ALIs) were enrolled. The patients' breathing patterns and respiratory mechanics parameters were recorded under the passive ventilation using the ASV mode. Results: The ALI patients showed lower tidal volumes and higher respiratory rates (RR) compared to patients with normal lungs ($7.1{\pm}0.9$ mL/kg vs. $8.6{\pm}1.3$ mL/kg IBW; $19.7{\pm}4.8$ b/min vs. $14.6{\pm}4.6$ b/min; p<0.05, respectively). The expiratory time constant (RCe) was lower in ALI patients than in those with normal lungs, and the expiratory time/RCe was maintained above 3 in both groups. In all patients, RR was correlated with RCe and peak inspiratory flow ($r_s$=-0.40; $r_s$=0.43; p<0.05, respectively). In ALI patients, significant correlations were found between RR and RCe ($r_s$=-0.76, p<0.01), peak inspiratory flow and RR ($r_s$=-0.53, p<0.05), and RCe and peak inspiratory flow ($r_s$=-0.53, p<0.05). Conclusion: ASV was found to operate adequately according to the respiratory mechanical characteristics in the ALI patients. Discrepancies with the ARDS Network recommendations, such as a somewhat higher tidal volume, have yet to be addressed in further studies.

Visualization of Flow in a Transonic Centrifugal Compressor

  • How is the flow in a rotating impeller. About 35 years have passed since one experimentalist rotating with the impeller. of a huge centrifugal blower made the flow measurements using a hot-wire anemometer (Fowler 1968). Optical measurement methods have great advantages over the intrusive methods especially for the flow measurement in a rotating impeller. One is the optical flow visualization (FV) technique (Senoo, et al., 1968) and the other is the application of laser velocimetry (LV) (Hah and Krain, 1990). Particle image velocimetries (PIVs) combine major features of both FV and LV, and are very attractive due to the feasibility of simultaneous and multi-points measurements (Hayami and Aramaki, 1999). A high-pressure-ratio transonic centrifugal compressor with a low-solidity cascade diffuser was tested in a closed loop with HFC134a gas at 18,000rpm (Hayami, 2000). Two kinds of measurement techniques by image processing were applied to visualize a flow in the compressor. One is a velocity field measurement at the inducer of the impeller using a PIV and the other is a pressure field measurement on the side wall of the cascade diffuser using a pressure sensitive paint (PSP) measurement technique. The PIV was successfully applied for visualization of an unsteady behavior of a shock wave based on the instantaneous velocity field measurement (Hayami, et al., 2002b) as well as a phase-averaged velocity vector field with a shock wave over one blade pitch (Hayami, et al., 2002a. b). A violent change in pressure was successfully visualized using a PSP measurement during a surge condition even though there are still some problems to be overcome (Hayami, et al., 2002c). Both PIV and PSP results are discussed in comparison with those of laser-2-focus (L2F) velocimetry and those of semiconductor pressure sensors. Experimental fluid dynamics (EFDs) are still growing up more and more both in hardware and in software. On the other hand, computational fluid dynamics (CFDs) are very attractive to understand the details of flow. A secondary flow on the side wall of the cascade diffuser was visualized based either steady or unsteady CFD calculations (Bonaiuti, et al.,2002). EFD and CFD methods will be combined to a hybrid method being complementary to each other. Measurement techniques by image processing as well as CFD calculations give a huge amount of data. Then, data mining technique will become more important to understand the flow mechanism both for EFD and CFD.

  • 近年来, 中国的旅游演艺进行了一系列新项目的落成, 使旅游演艺产业的票房增加, 经济收入增高, 同时带动了旅游演艺的品牌形成, 而且拥有了一定的良好口碑, 对地域的文化传播, 经济发展都有一定的推动作用, 其中大型情景体验剧就是重点项目之一。大型情景体验剧是一种以模拟真实环境空间设计为空间, 使观众在视觉, 听觉, 嗅觉, 味觉和触觉等多位感官上进行主动式体验, 互动性极强的新戏剧形式。大型情景体验剧根据中国的传统文化, 地域文化, 流传已久的故事进行了改编, 又结合了灯光, 音效, 特效, 3D效果等高科技, 使观众的体验更加真实。《又见平遥》作为中国第一部大型室内情景体验剧, 以新的表现形式和创作手段来体现山西文化的博大精深。以情景体验剧的形式, 使观众更加直观地感受到了"山西人"的"山西情"和"山西德", 推动山西旅游业的发展, 带动山西地区的经济, 逐渐形成了完整的产业链。但也有剧情连接不顺及游客管理不当等局限, 可以通过更多的观众互动及指引完善演出效果。因此可以看出, 大型情景体验剧对地域在传统文化, 价值观的传播上, 旅游产业的发展上, 地域的品牌特色形成以及经济发展上都有很大的推动作用。通过这些, 可以看出大型情景体验剧对实景演出的发展具有创新思维内容, 逐渐形成产业链闭环以及拓宽宣传渠道等启示作用。
