  • A 40 Gb/s clock and data recovery (CDR) module for a fiber-optic receiver with improved phase-locked loop (PLL) circuits has been successfully implemented. The PLL of the CDR module employs an improved D-type flip-flop frequency acquisition circuit, which helps to stabilize the CDR performance, to obtain faster frequency acquisition, and to reduce the time of recovering the lock state in the event of losing the lock state. The measured RMS jitter of the clock signal recovered from 40 Gb/s pseudo-random binary sequence ($2^{31}-1$) data by the improved PLL clock recovery module is 210 fs. The CDR module also integrates a 40 Gb/s D-FF decision circuit, demonstrating that it can produce clean retimed data using the recovered clock.

  • The nesting of parts cut on raw steel plate has been a subject of interest to the shipbuilding industry for many years. "Nesting" is defined operation of layout of the parts on the raw material with minimizing the waste rate. Therefore, it is very important to optimize the cutting area. Since the existing nesting programs are prepared for expensive workstations and the expert, it is needed to develop nesting program for personal computer to improve the technology of small/middle sized shipyards and their productivity. This study involves development and application of appropriate optimization technique to solve the problem of plate nesting. And the appropriate D/B for storing nesting data developed, the function of D/B is introduced in this paper.his paper.

  • This paper develops the piece creation of Hull-structure using PC(Personal Computer) which is from CADRA of graphic program. Large-sized shipbuilding yard was carried out on the development of CNC(Computer Numerical Control) auto cutting system used in super S/W such as AUTODEF, TRIBON. But this system needs lots of expenses and high technician, and only used in large-sized shipbuilding yard, not medium-sized and small-sized shipbuilding yard. To bring up the small and medium-sized ship building yard lacking a little competitive power. Small and medium-sized shipbuilding yard need the piece creation of Hull Structure S/W which is joined with the CADRA. Therefore the piece creation of Hull-Structure S/W is developed to joined with the CADRA of graphic S/W to create the piece to be needed on as auto cutting process using PC.

  • With time, the stable management of turbidity is becoming more important in the water treatment process. So optimization of flocculation is important for the improvement of the sedimentation efficiency. we evaluated the hydrodynamic behavior in the rotation direction (clock-wise, counterclock-wise) of the flocculator in the flocculation basin using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The results of the CFD simulation, in cases where flocculators rotate in a clockwise direction, a stronger flow is formed near the surface of the water where the rotating direction and current of flow correspond. The variance and standard deviation of the flux are about 8.5 and 2.9 respectively. In contrast, in the case of a counterclockwise direction, a stronger flow is formed near the bottom of the basin. The variance and standard deviation of the flux are about 5.3 and 2.3, respectively. The effluent flux is affected more by the third flocculator spin than the first and second flocculator spins. The third flocculator spinning in the counterclockwise direction is better for the uniform flow of the sedimentation basin than the third flocculator spinning in the clockwise direction

  • An experimental study was carried out in a three-dimensional cubic cavity driven by 2-dimensional plane Poiseuille flow for three kinds of Reynolds number, $10^4$, 3 $\times$ $10^4$ and 5 $\times$ $10^4$ based on the cavity width and cavity inlet mean flow velcoity. Instant simultaneous velocity vectors at whole field were measured by 2-D PIV system. Laser based illumination and two-frame grey-level cross correlation algorithm are adopted. Severe unsteady flow fluctuation within the cavity are remarkable at above Re = 3 $\times$ $10^4$ Reynolds numbers and sheared mixing layer phenomena are also found at the region where inlet driving Poiseuille flow is collided with the clock-wise rotating main primary vortex at upper center area. Instant velocity profiles reveal that deformed forced vortex formation is observed throughout the separate two areas.

  • The unsteady flow in three-dimensional cubic cavity with narrow channel at upper region is investigated experimentally for three kinds of Reynolds number, 1*10/sup 4/, 3*10/sup 4/ and 5*10/sup 4/ based on the cavity width and cavity inlet mean flow velocity. Instant velocity vectors are obtained simultaneously at whole field by PIV(Particle Image Velocimetry). Wall pressure distributions are estimated using Poisson equation from the velocity data. Results of PIV reveal that severe unsteady flow fluctuation within the cavity are remarkable at all Reynolds numbers and sheared mixing layer phenomena are also found at the region where inlet driving flow is collided with the clock-wise rotating main primary vortex. Instant velocity profiles reveal that deformed forced vortex formation is observed throughout the entire region and spanwise kinetic energy migration is conspicuous.

  • The purpose of this report is to describe the radiographic patterns of canine gastric dilatation-volvulus syndrome derived from a case. Radiographs showed the presence of a large amount of gas, fluid and ingesta within the stomach. The gas-filled pyloric antrum was present in the left cranial abdomen in the ventrodorsal view, and located dorsal and slightly cranial to the gas-filled fundus of the stomach in the right lateral recumbent and standing lateral view. On the right lateral recumbent view, the gas-filled stomach was compartmentalized by a soft-tissue dense band caused by the pyloric antral wall folding back and contacting the fundic wall. It was thought that the gastric volvulus in this case occurred In a clock. wise direction by radiographic findings.

  • Rotatory vertebral artery syndrome (RVAS) is characterized by recurrent attacks of vertigo, nystagmus, and syncope induced by compression of the vertebral artery during head rotation. A 60-year-old man with atlas vertebrae fracture presented recurrent attacks of positional vertigo. Left-beat, upbeat and count clock-wise torsional nystagmus occurred after lying down and bilateral head roll (HR) showing no latency or fatigue. Magnetic resonance imaging revealed foramen magnum stenosis (FMS) and dominancy of right vertebral artery (VA). The flow of the right VA on transcranial Doppler decreased significantly during left HR. The slower the velocity was, the more the nystagmus was aggravated. RVAS can be evoked by FMS causing compression of the VA. And the nystagmus might be aggravated according to the blood flow insufficiency.

  • This paper presents the design results of a low complexity and high throughput LDPC encoder structure. In order to solve the high complexity problem of the LDPC encoder, a simplified matrix-vector multiplier is proposed instead of the conventional complex matrix-vector multiplier. The proposed encoder also adopts a partially parallel structure and performs column-wise operations in matrix-vector multiplication to achieve high throughput. Implementation results show that the proposed architecture reduces the number of logic gates and memory elements by 37.4% and 56.7%, compared with existing five-stage pipelined architecture. The proposed encoder also supports 800Mbps throughput at 40MHz clock frequency which is improved about three times more than the existing architecture.

  • With time, the stable management of turbidity is becoming more important in the water treatment process. So optimization of coagulation is important for the improvement of the sedimentation efficiency. we evaluated the mixing and hydrodynamic behavior in the coagulation basin using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The items for evaluation are a location and the speed of agitator and angle of an injection pipe. The results of the CFD simulation, the efficacy of mixing in the coagulation basin was not affected according to one or two injection pipe and angle of an injection pipe. If there is a agitator near outlet of coagulation basin, the efficacy of mixing don't improve even though the speed of agitator increase. So location of agitator is perfect when it locate center at the inlet stream. The coagulation basin at this study, the proper speed of agitator is form 20rpm to 30rpm.
