Methods We collected data from search engines for research including foreign and domestic online database using the keywords ligament tendon, wrist sprain, tendinitis, trigger finger, carpal tunnel, ganglion cyst, de Quervain's and Raynaud. Results A total of 45 articles were about ligament tendon, wrist sprain, tendinitis, tenosynovitis, trigger finger, carpal tunnel syndrome, ganglion cyst, de Quervain's tenosynovitis and Raynaud disease. Out of 45 articles, 20 articles were about carpal tunnel syndrome and the most commonly used measurement was visual analog scale. Conclusions This study shows the research trend of musculoskeletal disorders related with the wrist and hand. Through the collected data, the treatment methods and specific information of treatments were organized. This study can be used in clinical environments and will contribute for further study in musculoskeletal disorders related with the wrist and hand.

  • Objectives : The aim of this study is to review the trend of clinical trials conducted with the intradermal acupuncture treatment on dry eye syndrome. Methods : Through 4 foreign online databases(PubMed, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, and CNKI) and 3 domestic online databases(NDSL, RISS, and OASIS), we searched for clinical studies performed acupuncture treatment for dry eye syndrome from 2000 to 2020. Only randomized controlled trials(RCT) were selected and analyzed with the research method. Results : A total of 4 studies were reviewed. Cuanzu(攢竹, BL2), Taiyang(太陽, EX-HN5), and Sibai(四白, ST2) were the most frequently used acupoints in the studies. Among the evaluation indexes, Schirmer I test(SIT), tear film break-up time(BUT) were the most frequently used outcomes. In the most of the 4 studies, intradermal acupuncture treatment showed significant therapeutic effects for dry eye syndrome. Conclusions : These results suggest that it is necessary to develop more detailed standards for intradermal acupuncture treatment method as the method of intradermal acupuncture is getting more diverse, and objective tools are needed to evaluating dry eye syndrome.

Method : This study analyzed trends in research as represented in the 142 articles of Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine in the field of Sasang constitution medicine from 2007 to 2010. Result : The main themes of studies were Sasang constitution clinical study (68, 47%) and developing instruments for measuring diagnosis (48, 33%), especially pulse diagnosis (25, 17%). Genetic researches and trends studies on Sasang constitutional medicine were respectively 17 (12%) and 8 (5%). As a result, Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine established Sasang clinical information bank, and discovered clinical character of Sasang constitution to develope various diagnosis tools include constitution survey form and pulse diagnosis instrument. Genetic researches also discover constitution related genes such as FTO and MC4R, and explore association between heredity and Sasang constitution. Conclusion : The above mentioned achievements of Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine were limited to diagnosis process, unquestionably studies for reproducibility and authenticity of constitution diagnosis were important mission of Sasang constitutional medicine. However, to develop the advance of Sasang constitutional medicine, not only constitution diagnosis but also constitutional treatment studies should be conducted.

  • Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) are drawing much interest due to its great potential to be one of the important options in cancer treatments. ADCs are acting like a magic bullet which delivers cytotoxic drugs specifically to cancerous cells throughout the body, thus attacks these cells, while not harming healthy cells. ADCs are complex molecules that are composed of an antibody having targeting capability and linked-payload or cytotoxic drug killing cancerous cells. The key factors of the success in the development of ADC are selection of appropriate antibody, cytotoxic payload and linker for conjugation. Recently there was considerable progress in ADCs development, and a large number of ADCs gained US FDA approval. About 80 new ADCs are under active clinical studies. In this review we present a brief introduction of the US-FDA approved ADCs and global situation in the clinical studies of ADC pipelines. We address an overview on each component of an ADC design such as target antigens, payloads, linkers, conjugation methods, drug antibody ratio. In addition, we discuss on the trend of ADC market where global big pharmas and domestic biopharmaceutical companies are competing to develop safer and more effective ADCs.

  • Objectives The purpose of this research is to comprehensively analyze about Jowiseungcheong-tang (Diàowèishēngqīng-tāng). This herbal medicine is widely used to treat obesity and metabolic disease. Methods We used 3 search terms, 'Jowiseungcheong-tang', 'Jowiseungcheong-tang plus obesity' and 'Jowiseungcheong-tang plus metabolic disease' in Korean word via 5 domestic databases. Therefore, 8 laboratory experiments and 4 clinical researches were chosen. Results Jowiseungcheong-tang (Diàowèishēngqīng-tāng) was identified as a herbal medicine for obesity and related metabolic disease. In plasma level of lipid, leptin, inflammatory material were decreased in laboratory experiments. Weight loss and symptom relief were reported in clinical research. Conclusions Definite information about laboratory experiment was showed, specifically suitable index and numerical value. In clinical research, although Jowiseungcheong-tang (Diàowèishēngqīng-tāng) is widely used for obesity and metabolic disease, the number of reported thesis and patient were pretty a few. Also, diagnosis methods were also scanty. Multi-institutional clinical trial should be progressed.

Methods Papers on the medicinal in vivo and in vitro activities of Humulus japonicus were reviewed and analyzed. Data on the publication year, research and experimental methods, and subjects were extracted and summarized. Results Twenty-eight papers with recent experimental studies and clinical trials related to Humulus japonicus were included. The following results were obtained from this study. 1. An average of 2.8 papers were published annually from 2014 to 2023. 2. There were 27 experimental studies and one clinical trials during the study period. 3. Among the studies, there were 13 in vivo, seven in vitro, and seven with both types of experiments. 4. Based on the subject area, studies on neuropsychiatric activity were the most numerous, totaling six reports. Conclusions Humulus japonicus has been studied for various activities, including neuropsychiatric, anti-inflammatory, liver function-related, digestive system-related, antibacterial, anti-obesity, anti-aging, and antioxidant effects. However, more clinical research is needed to further explore its medicinal uses.

  • The purpose of this review is to examine the performance of attachments used in implant-supported overdenture (IOD) in both clinical and in vitro settings and report the compiled findings, comparisons, and trends in the research literature. Articles published in PubMed on IOD attachment systems and performance were reviewed. Non-original articles were excluded. For each article included, the type of study, number of implants, number of attachment systems, and study outcome were recorded. Of the 283 articles found, 158 met the inclusion criteria. Ninety-four articles were clinical studies and 64 articles were in vitro studies. Studies on retention were the most common for in vitro studies, and four or more attachment systems were compared in most articles with significant differences in outcome. A clinical outcome of one attachment system was most common for clinical studies, while most studies had neutral outcomes overall. Ball attachment was the most commonly tested IOD attachment system. The trend in the literature showed that there is a large discrepancy between the study designs and outcomes between the clinical and the in vitro studies for IOD. Further clinical studies that can validate in vitro research should be encouraged to address this discrepancy between the two areas.
