Purpose: The COVID-19 pandemic has increased the importance of nurses' clinical performance, and accordingly, nursing educators have emphasized students' clinical practice and performance. This study developed a Clinical Practice Self-Efficacy Scale for nursing students and examined its psychometric properties. Methods: The authors reviewed instruments for selecting items for the scale in the areas of clinical skills, communication, infection control, safety, and nursing process. After preliminary items were selected, ten experts consisting of nursing professors and clinical nurses reviewed the items considering Korean clinical and educational situations. The data for the psychometric evaluation was collected from 257 nursing students in their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years and then analyzed. Results: The confirmatory factor analysis showed that the goodness of fit of this scale with five factors represented by 40 items was appropriate. The significant positive correlations with general self-efficacy indicated sound construct validity. The senior nursing students showed higher scores than others, as we expected. Cronbach's alpha was .94. Conclusion: The Clinical Practice Self-Efficacy Scale is appropriate for measuring Korean nursing students' self-efficacy of clinical practice. It is expected to act as a good tool to measure the effects of clinical practice education.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a scale to measure professionalism of clinical nurses and evaluate the reliability and validity of the scale. Methods: DeVellis's scale-development eight steps were applied. The initial items were developed through a literature review and discussion with investigators, and the content validity was verified by seven experts. The data were collected from 250 hospital nurses for exploratory factor analysis and 217 hospital nurses for confirmatory factor analysis. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were utilized to assess the construct validity. Cronbach's ⍺ was used to test the internal consistency reliability. Results: The results of the exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses showed that the scale comprised four factors: professional skill(eight items), sense of ethics (five items), knowledge-seeking activities (four items), and autonomy(three items). The four-factor structure was validated (x 2 =600.85 p<.001, GFI=.88, CFI=.84, RMSEA=.07), and Cronbach's ⍺ for the total scale was .84. Conclusion: The study results showed satisfactory reliability and validity of the professionalism measurement scale for clinical nurses. This scale has potential as an appropriate instrument for measuring clinical nurse professionalism.

Purpose: This study aimed to develop a Core Competency Scale for clinical nursing student educators. Methods: In this study, we constructed a conceptual framework, selected initial items, verified the content validity, conducted two rounds of Delphi expert consultation, selected secondary and tertiary items, and extracted the final items. The study included 242 clinical educators for nursing students. Item analysis, factor analysis, criterion validity, and internal consistency were used for the data analyses. Results: For the final scale, 35 items were selected and 5 factors were categorized, which together explain 61.7% of the total variance. The factors were education and evaluation, research and cooperation, ethical/legal principles, presenting leadership, and clinical practice. The scores for the scale significantly correlated with the teaching efficacy scale for clinical nursing instructors. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the 35 items was .96. Conclusion: The findings of this study demonstrated that the core competency scale has good validity and reliability. This scale can be used to assess the competency of clinical educators for nursing students; hence, it will help in evaluating the relationship between the skills of clinical educators for nursing students and the self-efficacy of those students.
