We are studying on the home economics, particularly tools and machines used in household affairs. The object of this paper is to rationalize house cleaning method and to improve the used cleaning tools. We have made a social survey in Korea about the real situation of house cleaning as the first phase of this research. The contents are as follows: 1) The consciousness of housemakers for house cleaning. 2) The methods of house cleaning. 3) The used type of vacuum cleaner. 4) Merits and demerits of vacuum cleaner. 5) Troubles of vacuum cleaner etc. The results has been made in comparison with the same social survey in japan and a small scale different survey in The United States of America by auther in 1979. The results are as follow (in Korea). 1. The almost of housemakers are affirmative in charge of household affairs(95%). 2. In household affairs, only 9% of housemakers dislike cleaning work, but 40% of housemakers do not a cleaning work as a daily periodically. 3. In general household, they do a cleaning work with broom, duster and dust cloth, and then the cleaning work is faily backward in mechanization(The possession of vacuum is 19%). 4. The main dissatisfaction of vacuum cleaner is a noise, and also the difficulty of the cleaning in a corner of the room is shown in high percentage too.
Objective: The exposure levels of disease-causing bacteria and germs were assessed on aircraft cleaning workers on multiple different aircrafts. Method: Five measuring points were selected depending on the aircraft types. Four aircraft cleaning agencies were selected for the test. Aircraft cleaning work was classified as intensive cleaning and general cleaning work. Ventilation in aircraft when sampling during the cleaning operation was categorized into forced ventilation and natural ventilation. The collection of airborne microorganisms was made through inertial impactors which were installed 1.5 meters above the bottom of the aircraft. The airborne bacteria and fungus growth badges were selected by Trytpic Soy Agar and Sabouraud Dextrose Agar. Results: The average concentrations of bacteria in the air were higher in the order of small, medium, and large airplanes. Rainy days had higher concentrations inside and outside the aircraft as compared to those in sunny days. Regarding ventilation, concentrations in natural ventilation were higher than concentrations in forced ventilation. According to the type of work, the concentrations in the intensive cleaning groups (cleaning one plane a day) were lower than those of the ordinary cleaning groups (cleaning several planes per day). Conclusion: The concentration levels of airborne bacteria and fungi in the aircraft surveyed were lower than the indoor environmental standards of Korea (800 cfu/m3 and 500 cfu/m3). The average concentrations of bacteria in the air and fungi in the air were highest in small aircraft owned by Company D.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to improve the working environment by identifying the work satisfaction of the cleaning workers of the aircraft and measuring and assessing the harmful factors of the cleaning process. Methods: We asked 23 cleaning companies for questionnaires and got 100 answers from 5 companies. The A-E Airline health manager has been contacted to establish a site survey schedule. The in-flight and lounge were measured using direct reading equipment. The harmful factor to be measured are noise, dust, temperature, volatile organic compound, total airborne bacteria, and total airborne bacteria. Results: Uncomfortable positions when replacing blanket, cleaning the table, and cleaning the floor have been identified as factor that reduce work satisfaction. Noise when replacing newspapers and cleaning toilets has been identified as a factor that lowers work satisfaction. Temperature and humidity were found to reduce work satisfaction during in-flight disinfection. Measurements of aircraft cabin and lounge with direct read equipment have shown that none of the items exceed the exposure criteria. Conclusions: As a result of measuring direct-reading equipment, no items exceeded the exposure criteria for each harmful factor. A clear survey of the working environment is required based on the results, and additional research is needed using personal sample measurement.
Recently, needs for the window cleaning for 2~5 stories in a building has been increased but existing window cleaning work by workers is not easy to clean the windows. Therefore a demand for development of alternative techniques have been raised. The purpose of this study is to analyze feasibility of development of the guide rail-type cleaning device for cleaning window for the lower stories. For this, we analyze the status of the job, such as risk, limitations of by workers and examine the potential producer needs through interviewing field experts of the cleaning work. Futhermore, we define the required features of the window cleaning device and proposed the validity of the relised device development of the function.
In the past, the results of window cleaning work have been judged subjective and complaints about cleaning results are being raised. In this study, we tried to quantify the evaluation of the cleaning result. For the quantification of the evaluation, a colorimeter was selected and the basic experiment was carried out. In addition, this study examined the use of standard dust powder for artificial production of contaminants in glasses. Further evaluation and analysis will be carried out to quantify the evaluation criteria of the cleaning results.
Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate a work of building cleaners using the ergonomic methods. Background: Previous studies about cleaning worker describe typical physical demands of this work. They found that the most significant risk factors associated with the physical work of cleaners are static loads and repetitive movements and high output of force. Method: A head of ergonomics estimation was work analysis(define of combined task, work tool, work time and frequency of combined task) and posture analysis of worker. Results: The results showed that combined task of building cleaners was classification sweeping, mopping(wet), mopping(oil), moving barrels/carts, dumping trash bags, scrubbing, arrangement of cleaning tool, arrangement of circumferential, moving of cleaning tool, and waiting. The work time of combined task such as mopping(wet) and scrubbing indicated high ratio. The posture analysis of building cleaners indicated high value in bending of the head, lower arm, and hands. Conclusion: The findings appear to indicate that building cleaner were related to high risk of work-related musculoskeletal disorders. So, building cleaner would be required an interventional strategy, improvement of cleaning tools and working environment. Application: If ergonomics rule can be integrated into existing cleaning tools and work environments, the risk of occupational injuries will be reduced.
In railway, Ballast plays an essential role as intermedium in transmitting train load to subgrade safely. Gyoung-Bu HSL 1st phase consists of ballasted track except for over 5km long tunnels. Ballast track occurred track irregularity by train loads and requires periodic maintenance work. However, Repetitive train operation and tamping work cause to accelerate track irregularity and ballast deterioration such as abrasion and crushing. For these reason, Track irregularity areas had occurred ballast cleaning work to improve track quality. However, for the train to run safety, ballast cleaner working area needs train speed reduction and track stabilization work due to ballast relaxation and initial settlement. In this study, according to train speed-up and cumulative traffic tonnage, we measured and analyzed the track settlement and acceleration of sleepers to evaluate of track stabilization in order to keep the ballast condition stable after cleaning work.
A water jet cleaning robot system for micro drill bits is to refurbish micro drill bits used for the PCB manufacturing process. It can refurbish drill bits with the minimum diameter of ${\phi}0.15{\sim}0.075mm$ of which the total quantity have been discarded before. Micro drill bits with the minimum diameter of ${\phi}0.075mm$ can be cleaned by applying the water jet cleaning robot system out of the manual ultrasonic cleaning in the past for the cleaning equipment as the initial process in refurbishing. This study analyzed problems, while applying the apparatus mechanism for the workability such as the robot traces of Transfer Robot I and II, drill bit loading and unloading, and cleaning tasks in the water jet cleaning robot system in an effort to carry out simulations. In addition, the cleaning work process was optimized as the work process was verified in advance and the production quantity was analyzed through simulations.
