  • UV-ray air cleaner consisted of 6 watt UV lamp and fan was developed to sanitize air of refrigerator. Light intensity of the lamp showed 5 times of D value of Bacillus subtilis and air velocity around the lamp in holding section was 0.7 m/s, giving 0.33s of the resident time. The performance of air cleaner was tested with bacterial contaminator sprayed with suspension of Bacillus subtilis and hey powder. The device effectively decreased 80% of the population of airborn spore after 100 min operation at room temperature.

  • Ever since the concept of clean production technology was introduced to the Korea industry communities, 16 years has passed, but there is still some confusion regarding to the definition and the meaning. It ascribes that SMEs do not widely accepted the concept and therefore the dissemination is still not widen. This study has explored the definition and the categories of clean production technologies as well as compared the relationship between the environment technology and green technology. In addition, as a policy plan to disseminate cleaner production technologies to small and medium enterprises, several policies are suggested hoe to improve and expand eco- innovation projects that are currently supported by the government.

  • Semiconductor industry has rapidly grown because of the need from electronic and computer industries. However the global environmental regulations for various hazardous chemical compounds, which are indispensably used in semiconductor manufacturing process, are getting stronger. The semiconductor industries should develop the cleaner technologies in order to both lead the future world market and avoid the regulations form environmentally developed countries. In this paper, cleaner technologies for semiconductor cleaning processes are surveyed, such as gas phase process, UV process, and plasma process. Advantages and disadvantages of these processes are discussed.

  • The aim of study was to suggest a methodology for applying cleaner production technology in dyeing & finishing process of textile materials. To accomplish cleaner production, we performed consulting activity in dyeing factory, which composed of following different procedures. First, we organized consulting team with specialists for dyeing, energy and chemicals, and visited dyeing companies for the purpose of doing basic investigation such as analysis of process, chemicals & effluents, condition of equipment and process flow of products. Environmental aspect of raw materials (dyestuff, chemicals) was assessed by TOC, COD, BOD, and effluent of that was assessed by TOC, COD, BOD, TDS and pH. Second, We find out the problems in dyeing&finishing process from the view point of dyeing process, energy, raw materials and process management by utilizing MB (material balance), LCA(Life Cycle Assessment), EB(Energy Balance). Third, we generated the solutions to achieve optimal process condition by brain storming method, and then implemented the solutions to each process. Finally, we determined their effectiveness after considering the results of repeating trials for the solutions. Cleaner production could be achieved by keeping optimal process conditions, equipment modification, improved production management, and on-site reuse or recycling.

  • An AP plasma technology has been developed for the application of dry cleaner, PR ashing and PI rework in the large glass size. The technology is cost effective, environment friendly, and best fits for coming generation LCD production since the design is easily scalable to bigger size glasses. Surface cleaning results based on the contact angle study has been presented for $5^{th}$ generation LCD bare glass. PR ashing results and various parametric studies have been also presented.

  • In this study, the efficiency of M/F(micro filtration) system was investigated about the wastewater generated from the production process of ${\beta}-glucan$. M/F membrane used the pellicon 2 cassette filter module of millipore(USA) for the operation of M/F plant system. Flux was rised as operation pressure increased, and decreased with the operation time. As concentration ratio increased, the recovery of ${\beta}-glucan$, which was remaind in retentate was effective. As the fermentation solution of ${\beta}-glucan$ reused, the conversion ratio was 42.5%, and the status of fermentation was stable. Based on these results, we suggested that permeate was applicable as water reuse in cleaner production technology.

  • In this study, Austrian cleaner production program, ECOPROFIT, was introduced to 15 companies in Korea. The performance and the proposed options of the program were compared with those of Austria. Various options such as good housekeeping, process changes, internal/external recycling, substitution of raw materials were suggested for domestic companies. There are something in common between Korea and Austria such as no relation between company sizes and derived options and good housekeeping as a major option. The difference is that 1.9 years of recovery period on investment is required in Korea, while only 0.5 year is required in Austria. The reason for not applying the suggestions was due to the priority of the company policies in Korea, but was due to the technical problems in Austria. To activate the cleaner production in the Korean regional industry, more systematic analysis on the examples and performances as well as additional studies to disseminate informations and the best practices are necessary.

  • The vacuum cleaner motor runs on very high speed for the suction power. Specially, the motive power is provided by the impeller being rotate on very high speed. And centrifugal fan consists of the impeller, the diffuser, and the circular casing. Due to the high rotating speed or the impeller and small gap distance between the impeller and diffuser, the centrifugal fan makes very high noise level at BPF and harmonic frequencies. In order to calculate the sound pressure of centrifugal fan, the unsteady flow data is needed. And Noise cause is dividing to fluid noise by exhaust flow of fan and vibration noise by rotational vibration of vacuum cleaner fan motor. Until now, measuring method has been used to measure vibration by the accelerometer; this method has been not measured for the vibration in some parts of brush and commutator because of motor construction and 3-D vibrating mode. This paper was purposed on the accurate analysis, using laser vibration analyzer,. By using this measured data of noise cause against the difficult part in old times, we would like to use for the design of silent fan motor.

  • A disassembility assessment has mostly depend on the subjective decision making from the qualitative element. The work of disassembly is already classified with given disassemble points from the symbolic chart method. It is not useful in the practical assessment because it is not specified. The new method of design for disassembility assessment(DFDA) is practical to introduce the fuzzy number as the conversion of quantitative element from qualitative. It is appled to compare the usefulness of air-cleaner in Korea-Japan passenger-vehicle.
