Latent Heat of Water Vapor of Rough Rice, Brown Rice, White Rice and Rice Husk

  • The latent heat of vaporization in rough rice, brown rice, white rice and rice hull was calculated by Clausius-Clapeyron equation, which does not require complex constraints as in Othmer method. Equilibrium relative humidity and ratio of the latent heat of vaporization with ln$P_{\upsilon}$ and ln$P_S$ were estimated with moisture contents ranging from 10% (d.b.) to 36% (d.b.) with 2% (d.b.) increment and temperatures ranging from $10^{\circ}C$ to $50^{\circ}C$ with $2.5^{\circ}C$ increment. An empirical equation for calculating the latent heat of vaporization in rice was developed as a function of moisture content and temperature. The equation agreed well with the calculated results. The ratio for latent heat of vaporization were the greatest for white rice while they were similar among rough rice, brown rice and rice hull.

서울 대기 중 PCBs의 온도 의존성 (Temperature Dependence of PCBs in Urban Area of Seoul City)

  • To investigate the relationships between the atmospheric concentrations of PCBs and temperature, quantity of both parameters was performed at an urban site in Korea from July 1999 to January 2000. The strength of correlations between total PCB and temperature was found to be significant (r = 0.752, p < 0.001). It hence indicates that total PCB contents were affected sensitively by temperature change during the sampling period. The ratio of PCB homologs and Deca-CB(PCB 209) also behaved quite similarly to the change of temperature (r>0.60, p<0.05). This may be inferable with the progress of the gas/particle partitioning to the gas phase, especially for fri-and tetra-CBs. Because they have high vapor pressure, they generally exist in the gas phase. The Clausius-Clapeyron equation was applied to the atmospheric PCB data, relating PCB partial vapor pressure to inverse temperature. This may essentially represent the temperature-controlled transition between condensed phase and atmospheric gas phase. The slopes of the resulting plot with International Council for the Explanation of the Seas (ICES) congener ranged from -2810 to -5887, with significantly steep slope and $R^2$(p< 0.005) It was inferred that the PCB atmospheric concentration was also affected by change in the surrounding conditions such as soil, lakes and trees.

  • Gaseous organochlorine pesticides (OCPs : heptachlor epoxide, p, p'-DDE, ${\gamma}-HCH,\;{\alpha}-chlordane,\;{\gamma}-chlordane$ and trans-nonachlor) concentration was measured using PUF high volume sampler from June, 2000 to June, 2002 in the semi-rural atmosphere. The OCPs concentration in atmosphere, which is estimated by the slope (m) of Clausius-Clapeyron equation and phase-transition energy $({\Delta}H)$, was influenced by revolatilization from environmental matrix (soil, water and tree leaves) and a long range transportation of air mass. But the former affected OCPs concentration more than the latter. The degradation rate constants (k) of OCPs calculated using multiple regression analysis and revised standard temperature method were in good agreement each other. The value of k of ${\gamma}-HCH$ was very low as -0.0007, but the range of k of other components were $-0.00l8{\sim}-0.0038$. The half-life $({\tau})$ which was calculated by k of ${\gamma}-HCH$ was 2.6 years-the longest one, but that of heptachlor epoxide was in 0.5 year-the shortest one. $({\tau})\;of\;{\alpha}-chlordane,\;{\gamma}-chlordane$ and trans-nonachlor in technical chlordane was 1.0, 1.1 and 0.7 year respectively.

  • Decylpyridinium Chloride 수용액의 c.m.c를 $10^{\circ}$부터 $50^{\circ}$사이의 온도에서 전기전도도법으로 결정하였던바 온도에 따른 c.m.c. 변화는 $15^{\circ}$근처에서 최소값을 보였다. Clausius-Clapeyron형의 식과 log(c.m.c)의 온도방법식으로 부터 micelle화 과정에 따른 ${\Delta}Hm$, ${\Delta}$Fm^{\circ}$, ${\Delta}$Sm, ${\Delta}Sm^{\circ}$${\Delta}$Cpm을 얻어 dodecylpyridinium chloride와 dodecylpyridinium bromide의 값들과 비교 검토하였다.

  • 화력발전소에서 배출되는 배연가스에서의 $CO_2$가스 흡수를 목적으로 sodium glycinate계 흡수제를 개발하기 위하여 sodium glycinate의 순수 및 수용액의 물성인 용해도, 증기압과 비점, 열전도 및 증발 잠열을 측정 또는 추산하였다. 용매인 $H_2O$ 25 g에 대한 sodium glycinate의 온도별 용해도는 y = 0.3471x + 20.993의 1차 함수 관계로 증가하였다. Sodium glycinate 10 wt%, 20 wt%, 30 wt%, 40 wt%, 50 wt%, 60 wt% 수용액의 증기압과 비점을 측정하고, Antoine 상수를 구하였으며 Clausius- Clapeyron 식을 이용하여 증기압 측정값으로 증발 잠열을 구하였다. Sodium glycinate 분체의 열전도도 측정은 분체를 disk판으로 성형한 후, 고체 열전도도 측정 장치로 측정하였으며 그 값은 $1.0933kcal/m{\cdot}hr{\cdot}^{\circ}C$이었다.

흡탈습량에 의한 츄잉껌의 Shelf-Life 예측 (Prediction of Shelf-Life of Chewing Gum Based on Moisture Gain and Loss)

  • 츄잉껌의 shelf-life 예측을 위하여 유통중인 제품과 동일한 시료를 조제하여 상대습도를 달리한 저장조건에서 포장된 츄잉껌의 수증기투과율, 흡탈습곡선의 온도의존성을 고찰하고 츄잉껌의 상품적 가치를 유지하는 수분함량 $2.17{\sim}3.16%(dry\;basis)$을 기준으로 품질수명을 예측하였다. 포장된 츄잉껌 1통 (7 sticks)의 수증기 투과율은 0.00045g water/pack day mmHg였으며 25, 30 및 $40^{\circ}C$에서 얻은 등온흡습곡선의 온도의존성은 Clausius-Clapeyron 식으로 표현될 수 있었다. 서울지역 기후변동에 따른 츄잉껌 1통의 수분변화량을 simulation 시켜 위험수분함량에 도달하는 품질수명을 예측한 결과 10, 11월에 생상된 제품의 품질수명은 7개월 정도로 가장 길었고 6, 7월에 생산된 제품은 평균 40일로 나타났으며 1년중 7월의 기후가 제품 보관에 가장 큰 영향을 주었다.

  • $CF_4$$C_2F_6$의 압력이 20.7 kPa 이하일 경우, 활성탄에의 평형흡착량을 여러 온도(293.15-333.15 K)에서 실험적으로 조사하였다. 실험데이터가 가장 잘 맞을 수 있도록 1차층 흡착으로 Langmuir모델을 쓰고 그 다음 단계에는 Freundlich 물리흡착을 이용하는 이단계모델을 제안한다. 1단계에 대한 흡착엔탈피를 구하기 위해 실험데이터의 최초기울기를 이용하였고, Clausius-Clapeyron식을 사용함으로써 2단계에 대한 흡착엔탈피를 구하였다. $CF_4$의 경우 1, 2단계의 흡착엔탈피는 각각 25.9와 11.8 kJ/mol이고, $C_2F_6$의 경우는 38.7과 38.2 kJ/mol이다.

Kinetics of Initial Water Vapor Adsorption by Inonotus obliquus Mushroom Powders

  • Water vapor adsorption kinetics of Inonotus mushroom powders were investigated in temperature and water activity ranges of 20 to 40$^{\circ}C$ and 0.30 to 0.81, respectively. Initial water vapor adsorption rate of mushroom powders increased with increases in temperature and water activity. The temperature dependency of water activity followed the Clausius-Clapeyron equation. The net isosteric heat of sorption increased with an increase in water activity. Water vapor adsorption kinetics of the mushroom powders can be well described by a simple empirical model. Temperature dependency of the reaction rate constant followed the Arrhenius relationship. The activation energy ranged from 56.86 to 91.35 kJ/mol depending on water activity. Kinetic compensation relationship was observed between k$_o$ and E$_a$ with the isokinetic temperature of 790.27 K.

Kinetics of water vapor adsorption by vacuum-dried jujube powder

  • Water vapor adsorption kinetics of vacuum-dried jujube powder were investigated in temperature and relative humidity ranges of 10 to $40^{\circ}C$ and 32 to 75%, respectively. Water vapor was initially adsorbed rapidly and then reached equilibrium condition slowly. Reaction rate constant for water vapor adsorption of vacuum-dried jujube powder increased with an increase in temperature. The temperature dependency of water activity followed the Clausius-Clapeyron equation. The net isosteric heat of sorption increased with an increase in water activity. Good straight lines were obtained with plotting of $1/(m-m_0)$ vs. 1/t. It was found that water vapor adsorption kinetics of vacuum-dried jujube powder was accurately described by a simple empirical model, and temperature dependency of the reaction rate constant followed the Arrhenius-type equation. The activation energy ranged from 50.90 to 56.00 kJ/mol depending on relative humidity. Arrhenius kinetic parameters ($E_a$ and $k_0$) for water vapor adsorption by vacuum-dried jujube powder showed an effect between the parameters with the isokinetic temperature of 302.51 K. The information on water vapor adsorption kinetics of vacuum-dried jujube powder can be used to establish the optimum condition for storage and processing of jujube.

알칼리금속염으로 처리된 활성탄에 대한 CO2의 흡착특성 (Adsorption Characteristics of CO2 on Activated Carbons Treated with Alkali-metal Salts)

  • 연소배가스로부터 $CO_2$를 선택적으로 분리하기 위한 활성탄 흡착공정 사용시 흡착능 향상을 위하여 $CO_2$와 친화력이 있는 화합물을 함침시키는 방법과 KOH를 함침시킨 후 고온에서 열처리하므로서 활성화시키는 방법이 사용되었다. 알칼리금속, 알칼리토금속, 또는 전이금속의 염화물을 함침시킨 활성탄에 대한 $CO_2$의 흡착량을 측정한 결과 함침 전의 활성탄의 흡착량보다 적었다. 이것은 함침되는 물질이 $CO_2$에 대한 친화력이 없이 단지 활성탄의 미세기공만 막는 결과임을 알 수 있었다. 알칼리금속수산화물 중 KOH를 함침시킨 활성탄에 대한 $CO_2$의 파과실험 결과 유입되는 기체에 수분이 있을 경우 흡착량이 증가했는데 이것은 KOH가 $CO_2$를 흡수하는 성질 때문이었다. 그러나 이 흡착제에 함친된 KOH가 $CO_2$와 반응하여 $K_2CO_3$로 변함에 따라 재현성이 없음을 알 수 있었다. KOH를 함침시킨 후 $800^{\circ}C$에서 열처리하여 활성화시킨 활성탄의 경우 함침된 KOH의 양이 증가할수록 $CO_2$의 흡착량이 증가했으며, KOH와 활성탄의 무게비(KOH/Activated-Carbon)가 4일 때 최대였다. 이 흡착제에 대해 온도별로 측정된 $CO_2$의 흡착량으로부터 Clausius-Clapeyron식을 이용하여 등량흡착열을 구했다. 그리고 고정층 파과실험을 통해 $CO_2$농도와 유속에 따른 파과특성을 살펴보았다.
