  • This study is concerned with the evaluation of predictive ability of classification models with ordered multiple categories. If categories can be ordered or ranked the spread of misclassification should be considered to evaluate the performance of the classification models using loss rate since the apparent error rate can not measure the spread of misclassification. Since loss rate is known to underestimate the true loss rate the bootstrap method were used to estimate the true loss rate. thus this study suggests the method to evaluate the predictive power of the classification models using loss rate and the bootstrap estimate of the true loss rate.

  • We propose some methods to obtain optimal thresholds and classification functions by using various cutoff criterion based on the bivariate ROC curve that represents bivariate cumulative distribution functions. The false positive rate and false negative rate are calculated with these classification functions for bivariate normal distributions.

  • In this study, we try to find ways to recognize face recognition more stably and to improve the effectiveness and reliability of face recognition. In order to improve the face recognition rate, a lot of data must be used, but that does not necessarily mean that the recognition rate is improved. Another criterion for improving the recognition rate can be seen that the top/bottom of the recognition rate is determined depending on how accurately or precisely the degree of classification of the data to be used is made. There are various methods for classification analysis, but in this study, classification analysis is performed using a support vector machine (SVM). In this study, feature information is extracted using a normalized image with rotation information, and then projected onto the eigenspace to investigate the relationship between the feature values through the classification analysis of SVM. Verification through classification analysis can improve the effectiveness and reliability of various recognition fields such as object recognition as well as face recognition, and will be of great help in improving recognition rates.

  • In recent years, sentiment analysis research has become popular. The research results of sentiment analysis have achieved remarkable results in practical applications, such as in Amazon's book recommendation system and the North American movie box office evaluation system. Analyzing big data based on user preferences and evaluations and recommending hot-selling books and hot-rated movies to users in a targeted manner greatly improve book sales and attendance rate in movies [1, 2]. However, traditional machine learning-based sentiment analysis methods such as the Classification and Regression Tree (CART), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and k-nearest neighbor classification (kNN) had performed poorly in accuracy. In this paper, an improved kNN classification method is proposed. Through the improved method and normalizing of data, the purpose of improving accuracy is achieved. Subsequently, the three classification algorithms and the improved algorithm were compared based on experimental data. Experiments show that the improved method performs best in the kNN classification method, with an accuracy rate of 11.5% and a precision rate of 20.3%.

  • In this paper, the classification rate of micro-cracks in silicon wafers was improved using a SVM. In case I, we investigated how feature data of micro-cracks and SVM parameters affect a classification rate. As a result, weighting vector and bias did not affect the classification rate, which was improved in case of high cost and sigmoid kernel function. Case II was performed using a more high quality image than that in case I. It was identified that learning data and input data had a large effect on the classification rate. Finally, images from cases I and II and another illumination system were used in case III. In spite of different condition images, good classification rates was achieved. Critical points for micro-crack classification improvement are SVM parameters, kernel function, clustered feature data, and experimental conditions. In the future, excellent results could be obtained through SVM parameter tuning and clustered feature data.

  • In this paper, it will be assumed that there are two distinct populations which are multivariate normal with equal covariance matrix. We also assume that the two populations are equally likely and the costs of misclassification are equal. The classification rule depends on the situation when the training samples include missing values or not. We consider the bootstrap confidence intervals for classification error rate when a block of observation is missing.

  • This study focuses on the classification of pathological voice using GMM (Gaussian Mixture Model) and compares the results to the previous work which was done by ANN (Artificial Neural Network). Speech data from normal people and patients were collected, then diagnosed and classified into two different categories. Six characteristic parameters (Jitter, Shimmer, NHR, SPI, APQ and RAP) were chosen. Then the classification method based on the artificial neural network and Gaussian mixture method was employed to discriminate the data into normal and pathological speech. The GMM method attained 98.4% average correct classification rate with training data and 95.2% average correct classification rate with test data. The different mixture number (3 to 15) of GMM was used in order to obtain an optimal condition for classification. We also compared the average classification rate based on GMM, ANN and HMM. The proper number of mixtures on Gaussian model needs to be investigated in our future work.

  • This study suggests integrated neural network models for Interest rate forecasting using change-point detection, classifiers, and classification functions based on structural change. The proposed model is composed of three phases with tee-staged learning. The first phase is to detect successive and appropriate structural changes in interest rare dataset. The second phase is to forecast change-point group with classifiers (discriminant analysis, logistic regression, and backpropagation neural networks) and their. combined classification functions. The fecal phase is to forecast the interest rate with backpropagation neural networks. We propose some classification functions to overcome the problems of two-staged learning that cannot measure the performance of the first learning. Subsequently, we compare the structured models with a neural network model alone and, in addition, determine which of classifiers and classification functions can perform better. This article then examines the predictability of the proposed classification functions for interest rate forecasting using structural change.

  • The purpose of this study is to improve the classification accuracy compared to the existing InceptionV3 model by proposing a new model modified with the fully connected hierarchical structure of InceptionV3, which showed excellent performance in medical image classification. The data used for model training were trained after data augmentation on a total of 1026 chest X-ray images of patients diagnosed with normal heart and Cardiomegaly at Kyungpook National University Hospital. As a result of the experiment, the learning classification accuracy and loss of the InceptionV3 model were 99.57% and 1.42, and the accuracy and loss of the proposed model were 99.81% and 0.92. As a result of the classification performance evaluation for precision, recall, and F1 score of Inception V3, the precision of the normal heart was 78%, the recall rate was 100%, and the F1 score was 88. The classification accuracy for Cardiomegaly was 100%, the recall rate was 78%, and the F1 score was 88. On the other hand, in the case of the proposed model, the accuracy for a normal heart was 100%, the recall rate was 92%, and the F1 score was 96. The classification accuracy for Cardiomegaly was 95%, the recall rate was 100%, and the F1 score was 97. If the chest X-ray image for normal heart and Cardiomegaly can be classified using the model proposed based on the study results, better classification will be possible and the reliability of classification performance will gradually increase.
