  • This study investigated the cases of the domestic classification system and compared and analyzed them with the academic standard classification system to derive future improvement directions. The direction of future improvement of the academic standard classification system presented based on this is as follows. First, it seems necessary to clearly guarantee the operation of the classification system as a law for the continuous development of the academic standard classification system. Second, it is necessary to improve it to a comprehensive classification principle that satisfies both current issues and global universality so that domestic and foreign data can be collected and compared smoothly by producing a wide-ranging classification system. Third, it is necessary to select a clear revision cycle of the academic standard classification system, and it seems appropriate to proceed with the revision every five years in order to reflect the academic field across a vast field. Currently, research on such a domestic classification system is insufficient, and such investigations are continuously conducted in the future, requiring continuous interest and research on the domestic classification system.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to classify the energy efficiency of 131 tractor models tested during from 2006 to 2010 in Korea. Methods: Four sub-indexes were developed using the fuel consumptions at 60% and 90% of rated speed with partial loads and at pull speeds of 3.0 km/h and 7.5 km/h with maximum drawbar pull. Weighting factors of the sub-indexes were also considered to reflect the characteristics of tractor's actual working hours in Korea. Four sub-indexes were integrated into a classification index. Using the developed classification index, a five-classification system was made on the basis of normal distribution of tractors over the classification range. Percentage of $1^{st}$ grade interval was expected to be close to 15%, $2^{nd}$ grade 20%, $3^{rd}$ grade 30%, $4^{th}$ grade 20%, $5^{th}$ grade 15%. Results: Number of $1^{st}$ grade was 21, $2^{nd}$ grade 23, $3^{rd}$ grade 39, $4^{th}$ grade 33, $5^{th}$ grade 15 among 131 models. Conclusions: Classification index was developed by integrating four sub-indexes. By the classification method using developed index, distribution of classified tractors was acceptable for practical application.

  • Web information service needs a document classification system for efficient management and conveniently searches. Existing document classification systems have a problem of low accuracy in classification, if a few number of feature words is selected in documents or if the number of documents that belong to a specific category is excessively large. To solve this problem, we propose a document classification system using 'Modified ECCD' feature selection method and 'Category Weight for each Document'. Experimental results show that the 'Modified ECCD' feature selection method has higher accuracy in classification than ${\chi}^2$ and the ECCD method. Moreover, combining the 'Category Weight for each Document' feature value and 'Modified ECCD' feature selection method results better accuracy in classification.

  • The purpose of the study is to investigate and analyze the categories of online bookstores and to propose improvements. For the study, the category conformity was compared among eight Korean online bookstores selected; the book classification on the categories was compared from them. The results show that the category conformity was high among online bookstores, but the book classification on the categories was different on the bookstores. ISBN contents classification codes for books might not help to classify the books on the categories. Thus, the study proposes a new publication category for the book classification on categories of online bookstores.

  • The aim of this study is to reveal the categorizational and classificatory features of the subject-based classification (SBC) as a subject organization system. For this purpose, 12 SBC schemes of public libraries were selected and a comparative analysis was made between the traditional classification system, such as DDC and SBC in terms of the categorizational aspects, and canons for the classification. As a result, there were significant and considerable differences between the two types of classifications. This study concluded that SBC cannot be clearly explained and understood without a consideration of its essential and distinctive characteristics as a classification scheme.

  • In this paper, a dynamic variable window-based topographical classification method is proposed which has the changeable classification units depending on topographical properties. In the proposed scheme, to im prove the classification efficiency, the unit of topographical classification can be changeable dynamically according to the topographical properties and repeated patterns. Also, in this paper, the classification efficiency and accuracy of the proposed method are analyzed in order to find an optimal maximum decision window-size through the experiment. According to the experiment results, the proposed dynamic variable window-based topographical classification method maintains similar accuracy but remarkably reduce computing time than that of a fixed window-size based one, respectively.

  • This study seeks a way a way of dealing with unformatted natural language considering fuzzy set theory. The goal of the study is to establish a framework of an effective language understanding system that is linked to language classification system This study has found that languate understanding is strongly influenced by the language classification. The understanding of language. This study shows that the precision of language classification depends upon the way of how the language is classified in advance. In this study, a fuzzy logic was used to improve the precision of language classification. It was considered that the fuzzy logic might be albe to distinctively classify nuatural language texts into pretinent homogenious groups where contents of the language were identical. Accordingly, in the study, it was expected that classification of language were precisely classified by the fuzzy logic. An experimentalsystems was designed to evaluate the performane of a natural language understanding system that was connected to a fuzzy language classification system. Finally, the experiment suggests that a successful language understanding should require an real time interaction between mem andmachine fuzzy provious language classification.

  • A robust L1 data depth was used in clustering and classification, so called DDclus and DDclass by Jornsten (2004). SVM-based classification works well in most of the situation but show some weakness in the presence of outliers. Proper gene selection is important in classification since there are so many redundant genes. Either by selecting appropriate genes or by gene clustering combined with classification method enhance the overall performance of classification. The performance of depth based method are evaluated among several SVM-based classification methods.

  • In this paper, we propose a fusion classification method combining HRRP and JEM classifier with complementary properties for the classification of aircraft. The fusion method is based on the confidence of a classifier for a classification result to improve performance compared with single classifier in various situations. The confidence is defined as the posterior probability estimated from the classification performance of a classifier and it depends on the aspect angle and the certainty for a classification result. Through the classification test using simulation data, we can verify that the proposed fusion method shows good performance by fusing the classifiers effectively.
