  • It is well known that combining spatial and spectral information can improve land use classification from satellite imagery. High spatial resolution classification has a limitation when only using the spectral information due to the complex spatial arrangement of features and spectral heterogeneity within each class. Therefore, extracting the spatial information is one of the most important steps in high resolution satellite image classification. In this paper, we propose a new spatial feature extraction method. The extracted features are integrated with spectral bands to improve overall classification accuracy. The classification is achieved by applying a Support Vector Machines classifier. In order to evaluate the proposed feature extraction method, we applied our approach to KOMPSAT-2 data and compared the result with the other methods.

  • The purpose of this study is to identify how to construct an internet shopping mall classification system used on the library classification theories. To aid in identifying classification system, this study focused on the Ranganathan’s classification canons; canons for characteristics, canons for terms. The study shows six priniciples for an internet shopping mall classification system construct: products’characteristics, inclusiveness, various access points, category sequence and term consistency, term currency and obviousness, no term duplication. For future research, product’s search patterns and relationship to interface are suggested.

  • This study reports the first step in the Classification-based Search and Knowledge Discovery (CSKD) project, which aims to combine information organization and retrieval approaches for building digital library applications. In this study, we explored the generation and application of a faceted vocabulary as a potential mechanism to enhance knowledge discovery. The faceted vocabulary construction process revealed some heuristics that can be refined in follow-up studies to further automate the creation of faceted classification structure, while our concept search application demonstrated the utility and potential of integrating classification-based approach with retrieval-based approach. Integration of text- and classification-based methods as outlined in this paper combines the strengths of two vastly different approaches to information discovery by constructing and utilizing a flexible information organization scheme from an existing classification structure.

  • This paper introduces DICE, a Domain-Independent text Classification Engine. DICE is robust, efficient, and domain-independent in terms of software and architecture. Each module of the system is clearly modularized and encapsulated for extensibility. The clear modular architecture allows for simple and continuous verification and facilitates changes in multiple cycles, even after its major development period is complete. Those who want to make use of DICE can easily implement their ideas on this test bed and optimize it for a particular domain by simply adjusting the configuration file. Unlike other publically available tool kits or development environments targeted at general purpose classification models, DICE specializes in text classification with a number of useful functions specific to it. This paper focuses on the ways to locate the optimal states of a practical text classification framework by using various adaptation methods provided by the system such as feature selection, lemmatization, and classification models.

  • This study aims at obtaining more effective image processing techniques and more accurately classified image in the sphere which uses remotely sensed data. For this practice, the result of land use classification compounding summer scene with winter scene and the classified result of summer scene were compared, analyzed. From the upper analysed results, we found that Bitemporal Classification technique and $tan^{-1}$transformation were effective. Particularly, dividing crop class into two classes of farmland and field was more possible by appling Bitemporal Classification technique.

  • In this paper, we propose a multi-label classification method in which multi-label classification estimation techniques are applied to resolving location prediction problem. Most of previous studies related to location prediction have focused on the use of single-label classification by using contextual information such as user's movement paths, demographic information, etc. However, in this paper, we focused on the case where users are free to visit multiple locations, forcing decision-makers to use multi-labeled dataset. By using 2373 contextual dataset which was compiled from college students, we have obtained the best results with classifiers such as bagging, random subspace, and decision tree with the multi-label classification estimation methods like binary relevance(BR), binary pairwise classification (PW).

  • In this paper, we create scaffold defect classification models using machine learning based data. We extract the characteristic from collected scaffold external images using USB camera. SVM, KNN, MLP algorithm of machine learning was using extracted features. Classification models of three type learned using train dataset. We created scaffold defect classification models using test dataset. We quantified the performance of defect classification models. We have confirmed that the SVM accuracy is 95%. So the best performance model is using SVM.

  • The various technologies of the science and technology field were systematized to manage information, personnel and R&D activities related to S&T effectively. The resulting “National Standard Science and Technology Classification” which were composed of 19 areas, 160 divisions and 1,023 categories could contribute to establish rational S&T policy. “National Standard Science and Technology Classification” is synthetic in national level because they include all areas of S&T activities. 5 criteria, which were inclusiveness, exclusiveness, likeness, scale and universality, were used to exert every effort in including the opinion of all experts and to consider harmony between S&T areas. In addition, “National Standard Science and Technology Classification” was prepared to be interchangeable with various classification which were used in other R&D management institutes under the different ministries.

  • The treatment of cleft lip and palate patients requires multidisciplinary coorperation, and the involved clinicians rely on the completeness and accuracy of the patient's medical records in developing comprehensive treatment plans. There are so many classifications in cleft lip and palate but each classification has advantages and disadvantages. Furthermore there are few classification or assessment in secondary cleft lip and palate deformities. A modification of Kenahan's Y classification in primary cleft lip and palate and new classification in secondary cleft lip and palate deformities are proposed as a simple and reproducible method. These reproducible classification may be used to facilitate not only storing and analyzing of medical informations in computer but also the planning of secondary repairs

  • Landcover information of access-denied area was extracted from low-medium and high resolution satellite image. Training for supervised classification was performed to refer visually by landcover map which is made and distributed from The Ministry of Environment. The classification result was compared by relating data of FACC land classification system. As we rasterize digital military map with same pixel size of satellite classification, the accuracy test was performed by image to image method. In vegetation case, ancillary data such as NDVI and image for seasons are going to improve accuracy. FACC code of FDB need to recognize the properties which can be automated.
