  • The clustering characteristics for a number of classes, and defining the inheritance relations between the classes is a difficult and complex problem in an early stage of object oriented software development. We discuss a traditional iterative approach for the reuse of the existing classes in a library and an integrated approach to creating a number of new classes presented in this study. This paper formulates a character-istic clustering problem for zero-one integer programming and presents a network solution method with illustrative examples and the basic rules to define the inheritance relations between the classes. The network solution method for a characteristic clustering problem is based on a distance parameter between every pair of objects with characteristics. We apply the approach to a real problem taken from industry.

  • For designing the radar integrated data network, we construct the network structure with a spatial hierarchy decomposition scheme. The RIDN can be decomposed into several subnet classes, those of which are composed of the several group classes of radar sits, In a group class, the communication nodes of a radar site are modeled by the software modules formulated with the statistical attributes of discrete events. And we get the analysis over the network through the separately constructed infra group level models which were coded with the C language. After constructing the local area network with these infra models through the proper data links. We got the analysis of the communication performance of inner models and the global network.

  • The Component-Based Software Development (CBSD) has established itself as a sound paradigm in the software engineering discipline and has gained wide spread acceptance in the industry. The CBSD relies on the availability of standard software components for encapsulation of specific functionality. This paper presents the framework for the development of a software component for the design of general member cross-sections. The proposed component can be used in component-based structural engineering software or as a stand-alone program developed around the component. This paper describes the use-case scenarios for the component, its design patterns, object models, class hierarchy, the integrated and unified handling of cross-section behavior and implementation issue. It is expected that a component developed using the proposed patterns and model can be used in analysis, design and detailing packages to handle reinforced concrete, partially prestressed concrete, steel-concrete composite and steel sections. The component can provide the entire response parameters of the cross section including determination of geometric properties, elastic stresses, flexural capacity, moment-curvature, and ductility ratios. The component can also be used as the main computational engine for stand-alone section design software. The component can be further extended to handle the retrofitting and strengthening of cross-sections, shear and torsional response, determination of fire-damage parameters, etc.

  • This paper proposes an object-oriented conceptual information model of mechanical assemblies, named open assembly model (OAM). The proposed assembly model primarily defines hierarchical relationships between parts and subassemblies. Together with the assembly hierarchy. the model also provides a way to represent tolerances, kinematic information, and parametric assembly constraints. Relational information such as mating conditions and degree of freedom between parts and subassemblies is captured via assembly features and relationships thereof. The information model is described using class diagrams of the Unified Modeling Language (UML), and instance diagrams are used to exemplify the proposed information model. The conceptual model presented in this paper is an integrated information model for assembly representation, which could supply necessary information for tolerance analysis and synthesis, kinematic simulation, and assembly simulation. Such a conceptual information model plays an important role for the exchange of information between modeling, analysis and planning systems. Hence, the proposed model could serve as a framework for developing data exchange standards of mechanical assemblies. The proposed model is demonstrated through a case study of a planetary gear assembly.

  • Objective: This study determines which of two types of 2D menu is better on iPhone. Background: Menu systems have been important components in modern graphical user interfaces. Review of menu design studies for human-computer interaction suggests that menu design guidelines for smartphones need to be reappraised. Method: A nested factorial design was used. Twenty-four participants were divided into two groups. The subjects were nested within the menu type. Two types of menus are an overview menu and a text menu. Two different breadth levels are 16 and 64. The participants performed five tasks in each breadth level. A task is defined as locating a product or product class on the deepest level of the hierarchy. An Apple iPhone 2G was used. Results: The results for ANOVA indicated a lack of a significant difference for time to respond between the two types of 2D menus. The overview menu showed the better satisfaction score between the two menu types. Conclusion: Even though the differences were not significant, an overview menu tended to show better performance and preference scores than a text menu that required scrolling. Application: This study can provide menu design guidelines when 2D menus are considered for small displays in a high breadth level.

  • Workflow is the automation of a business process, in whole or part, during which documents, information or tasks are passed from one participant to another for action, according to a set of procedural rules. The software selection problem is made difficult by the multiplicity of competing products and the lack of expertise and experience of users in the methods of software evaluation. Although the selection process for workflow is similar to that proposed for the acquisition of any software packages, differences arise in their evaluation criteria and choice methods. In this paper, we suggest the Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP) method for selecting workflow software. The AHP is an intuitively easy method for formulating and analyzing decisions. It was developed to solve a specific class of problems that involves prioritization of potential alternate solutions. We showed how to evaluate 9 commercial workflow products by deciding the relative importance of the main criteria in the AHP model. We utilized the evaluation data for criteria ready suggested by specialist groups. Our methodology will be helpful to those who are going to adopt a best workflow product in their organizations. Although the criteria and their evaluation scores regarding workflow products are suggested, it is not easy to apply them to a real case and get solutions without a model.

  • In this paper, object-based classification of urban areas based on a combination of information from lidar and aerial images is introduced. High resolution images are frequently used in automatic classification, making use of the spectral characteristics of the features under study. However, in urban areas, pixel-based classification can be difficult since building colors differ and the shadows of buildings can obscure building segmentation. Therefore, if the boundaries of buildings can be extracted from lidar, this information could improve the accuracy of urban area classifications. In the data processing stage, lidar data and the aerial image are co-registered into the same coordinate system, and a local maxima filter is used for the building segmentation of lidar data, which are then converted into an image containing only building information. Then, multiresolution segmentation is achieved using a scale parameter, and a color and shape factor; a compactness factor and a layer weight are implemented for the classification using a class hierarchy. Results indicate that lidar can provide useful additional data when combined with high resolution images in the object-oriented hierarchical classification of urban areas.

  • In this paper, we propose a hierarchical image classification scheme for efficient object image classification. In the non-hierarchical image classification, which classifies the existing whole images at one time, it showed that objects with relatively similar shapes are not recognized efficiently. Therefore, in this paper, we introduce the image classification method in the hierarchical structure which attempts to classify object images hierarchically. Also, we introduce to the efficient class structure and algorithms considering the scalability that can occur when a deep learning image classification is applied to an actual system. Such a scheme makes it possible to classify images with a higher degree of confidence in object images having relatively similar shapes.

  • There are many information objects and users in a large company. It is important issue how to control users access in order that only authorized user can access information objects, Traditional access control models do not properly reflect the characteristics of enterprise environment. This paper proposes an improved access control model for enterprise environment. The characteristics of access control in an enterprise are examined and a task role-based access control(T-RBAC) model founded on concept of classification of tasks is introduced. T-RBAC deals with each task differently according to its class, and supports task level access control and supervision role hierarchy.
