  • To estimate the soil quality of Miryang area, soil analysis were conducted according to the city and out of city of soil expenses at according to analysis components and heavy metal pollution of irradiation sampling sites. The through soil components the principal element about the 71% $SiO_2\;and\;Al_2O_3$, the pH of field area near the city center was lower than that of the other field area, which indicated that this acidification was probably attributed to the acid rain caused by the traffic exhaust gas such as $SO_x\;and\;NO_x$. Acidification was more severe in the field area than in the farming land. The concentration of five heavy metals such as Cu, Cd, Pb, As and Cr were found to be lower than the standard of soil pollution. An assessment using the SPI(Soil Pollution Index), which was developed to estimate an overall soil quality, was performed. Each SPS(Soil Pollution Score) were evaluated with the results of the data from this study. The soil quality of most area of Miryang land was determined to Class 1, which indicated that the soil was healthy.

  • This study investigates whether urban expansion can act as a cause of the decline of the original city center through the Space Syntax methodology. The urban spatial structure analysis was conducted targeting the downtown area of Jeju-eupseong. The time points for longitudinal analysis were set at five points between 1914 and 2021 including the Japanese colonial period when the cadastral map was drawn up in Jeju City, and the urban spatial structure was analyzed and compared for each time point. ASA (Angular Segment Analysis) was used as a technique for urban spatial structure analysis. This study shows that urban expansion is a cause of the decline of the original downtown. The original city center has moved away from the center as the urban structural change due to the urban expansion. The urban structure of the eastern part of Jeju City has undergone a major transformation between 1914 and 2021. As the old Jeju area where the original city center was located is geographically in contact with the sea, urban sprawl has been made toward Halla Mountain and further to the south of Jeju. Accordingly, the city center has transformed from a monocentric to a polycentric structure. Due to the dynamics of the urban sprawl, the old downtown of Jeju became one of the peripheral neighbourhoods in the Greater Metropolitan of Jeju.

  • This study compares and analyzes the spatial distribution of people in two cities using location information in twitter data. The target cities were selected as Paris, a traditional tourist city, and Dubai, a tourist city that has recently attracted attention. The data was collected over 123 days in 2016 and 125 days in 2018. We compared the spatial distribution of two cities according to the two periods and residence status. In this study, we have found a hot place using a spatial statistical model called dart-shaped space division and estimated the urban area by reflecting the distribution of tweet population. And we visualized it as a CDF (cumulative distribution function) curve so that the distance between all the tweets' occurrence points and the city center point can be compared for different cities.

  • This research predicted the change and characteristics of space structure by new residential area development through objective and quantitative analysis of urban spatial configuration using space syntax and associated the prediction with the city status statistics data and quantitative analysis, and the results are summarized as follows: (1) If large scale new residential area of Dongnae township proceeds to be developed according to present plan, accessibility to the new residential area will drop, and also as the outside space ripple effects by new residential area development also are anticipated small, the new residential area apprehensibly will not succeed to play the role of integrating the entire city structurally, but will cause structural problem, severing the city structure. (2) If the city planned road between existing urban center planned based on 2004 Chuncheon city plan overall drawing and main road which is the entrance road of the planned new residential area is developed together, the accessibility to the entire space of Chuncheon city and the new residential area will be easy, allowing the new residential area properly integrated into the entire space of Chuncheon city, consequently giving a prediction that classification of land use between the central part of Chuncheon city and surrounding residential area would become conspicuous.

  • Although the efficient formation of urban space structure is a key factor in energy saving and environmentally-friendly aspect, the maintenance of the center and sub-center of the city that are key factors has been becoming increasingly difficult due to the variability and complexity of urban activities. In the case of Busan, amid the expansion of urban scale due to rapid economic development and overpopulation, systematic approaches to professional diagnosis and maintenance have been significantly insufficient - other than the city basic plan which has been conducted at an interval of 20 years. For the effective management of urban central area, systematic monitoring of the CBD through demand forecast and blight forecast at a city level must first be implemented. In order to fulfill this goal, this study is to figure out the current state of the CBD through the diagnosis on blight of the urban central area in the viewpoint of rehabilitation of the CBD and to propose the measures for practical utilization of the information about space for the further management of the central area of the city. For analysis, the study looks into the present state in terms of physical index, economic index, and social index. And then as a micro-approach by utilizing economic index, the study has thoroughly examined the economic blight of the Seomyun urban central area of Busan. The outcome of the analysis shows that in terms of population distribution and land utilization the area is in the stage of inefficient dispersion after having gone through the stage of suburbanization. It is expected that this study, as the material that proves the necessity of enhancing the function of the CBD, can propose the direction for the management of the urban center of Busan through blight prediction and management of the urban center and can provide the basic data for the long-term urban development that aims at the efficient strengthening of functions of the CBD.
