  • The three key parts of citation index are the Citation Index, the Source Index and the Permuterm Subject Index. To identify the core elements for citation index database system, it analyzed the items that have been cited in references and source items of Journal of the Korean Society for Information Management from vol. 1 no. l(1984) to vol. 15 no. 3(1998). Ten core elements were identified and the description format was specified respectively. The core elements are author, organization that the author is affiliated, title of article, title or journal, volume/numberlpage numbers, year of publication, keyword, language, subject category, statistics of references in article. Also, characteristics of errors in reference citations were analyzed and categorized in the viewpoint of the citation index development of academic journals in Korea.

  • This study focuses on investigating and analyzing overall information use behavior of the health fields researchers. Questionaries were 116 researchers in there nursing university or college and EMT college. Four areas were tested on the basis of the purpose that there would exist unique characteristics in the information seeking behavior of health fields researchers. The findings of the study shows that health fields researchers prefer monographs and journals; they tend to use current materials; the first information source for their research activities is the cited references in the book or journal article; they are likely to delegate literature searching to the librarian, but they tend to conduct direct searching in online setting; in general, they react positively for the rapid change in information environment caused by recent development of information technology. It is emphasized that to design an efficient information system and provide an effective information service in the health science related library or information center, it is essential to consider the major characteristics and attributes of health fields researchers in terms of their information use behavior.

  • A shape optimal design of synthetic intervertebral disc prosthesis is performed using a three-dimensional finite element method. Geometric parameters are introduced to model the cross-sectional geometry of the intervertebral disc. It is assumed that the total strain energy in the intact intervertebral disc is minimized under the normal load conditions, as often cited in other references. To calculate the stain energy density, both the nonlinear material properties and the large deformations are taken into account. The design variables of the annulus fiber angle and the area ratio of the nucleus pulposus are calculated as 31°and 30%, respectively, which complies well with the intact disc. Thus, the same optimization procedure is applied to the design of the synthetic intervertebral disc prosthesis whose material properties are different from the intact disc. For the given synthetic material properties, the values of 67°and 24% for the fiber angle and the area ratio are obtained.

  • The present study is a literature survey aimed at . providing a means to improve the bibliographic apparatuses for Korean studies. The need for a study like this has proven urgent with the promotion of Korean studies both within and without in recent years. The study examines the social science literature on Korea produced in English between 1876 and 1945(A study is under way for literature since 1945 also). Selection of the titles for investigation was made on the basis of the relative importance of the works confirmed after reading book reviews and examining a variety of bibliographies. Each title selected was examined in terms of its subject matter, contribution to the discipline it belongs, references cited, relations with similar works in the field, and bibliographic features. Published books, dissertations both published or not published, and periodicals are included. Primarily a critical review it is also designed to provide background information on the present status of Korean studies and the historical development of Western studies on Korea. Special attenttion is given to the factors contributing to the foundations of the modern Western scholarchip on Korea in the late 19th century.

  • This paper introduced a simple numerical analysis algorithm for the calculation of the dynamic responses of the beam structure with a moving mass. The dynamic equation of motion of the Bernoulli-Euler beam is derived by considering the moving mass as a moving particle, and the dynamic equation of motion is transformed into an integro-differential equation by use of the structural influence function. The numerical solutions of the integro-differential equation are obtained by the modal analysis approach, and compared with those cited from well-known references. The proves that the numerical analysis algorithm proposed herein provide very reliable results, and thus it can be utilized in the design analysis of the beamlike structures exited by a mass which is traveling on it.

  • In this study, an investigation on mechanical properties of flax/vinyl ester natural fiber composite was performed as a precedent study on the design of eco-friendly structure using flax/vinyl ester composite. Vacuum Assisted Resin Transfer Molding(VARTM) manufacturing method was adopted for manufacturing the flax fiber composite specimen. The mechanical properties of the manufactured flax composites were compared with flax composite data cited from some references. Based on this, the experimental data showed that the flax/vinyl ester composite has some advantages when it is applied to environment-friendly structure.

  • The objective of this study was to review and evaluate the growing subject of food tourism research, and thus identify the trend of food tourism research. Using a Text mining technique, this paper discovered the trends of the literature on food tourism that was published from 2004 to 2018. The study reviewed 201 articles that include the words 'food' and 'tourism' in their abstracts in the KCI database. The Wordscloud analysis results presented that the research subjects were predominantly 'Festival', 'Region', 'Culture', 'Tourist', but there was a slight difference in frequency according to the time period. Based on the main path analysis, we extracted the meaningful paths between the cited references published domestically, resulting in a total of 12 networks from 2004 to 2018. The Text network analysis indicated that the words with high centrality showed similarities and differences in the food tourism literature according to the time period, displaying them in a sociogram, a visualization tool. This study has implications that it offers a new perspective of comprehending the overall flow of relevant research.

A Study on the Medical Reference Books Used in the Medical Compilations of the Joseon Dynasty (조선조 의학유서 편찬에 사용된 참고의서 고찰)

  • The three major medical compilations of the Joseon Dynasty, Hyangyak-jipseongbang, Uibang-yuchwi, and Dongui-bogam, directly cited a total of 376 kinds of medical books. Among them, 11 medical books were commonly referred: Gyeongheom-yangbang, Deukyobang, Saminbang, Seonmyeongnon, Seongje-chongnok, Seonghyebang, Eoui-chwaryo, Yeongnyu-geombang, Wisaeng-bogam, Cheongeumbang, and Tangaek-boncho. Most of them were medical classics and formularies representing the period from the Song to the early Ming Dynasties, which most likely influenced the establishment of Joseon's medical tradition throughout the Joseon Dynasty. The reason why the majority of the medical reference books was formularies seems to be that prescription practices and the use of medicinals value knowledge with accumulated experience over a long period, whereas medical ideas and doctrines change with time. Besides, except for Eoui-chwaryo compiled in the Goryeo Dynasty, the three significant compilations referred to Chinese medical books, which indicates that the compilers made efforts to accommodate the newly introduced foreign knowledge. At the same time, the former compilations, Hyangyak-jipseongbang and Uibang-yuchwi, later appeared as primary references in Dongui-bogam's Medical Formularies of Successive Generations. However, in order to avoid overlapping the same contents, the compilers tried to form a differentiated version by extracting only the unique contents.

  • The interaction between technology and tourism has been a dynamic research area recently. This study aims to review the progress and development of technology in tourism research via a bibliometric analysis. We derive the source data from the Web of Science (WoS) core collection and use CiteSpace for bibliometric analysis, including countries, institutions, authors, categories, references, and keywords. The analysis results are as follows: i) The number of published articles on the role of technology in tourism has increased in recent years. ii) Technology-related articles in tourism are abundant in Tourism Management, Journal of Travel Research, and Annals of Tourism Research. iii) The countries with the most contributions are China, the US, and the UK. The most active institutions are the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, University of Central Florida, Bournemouth University, University of Queensland, and Kyung Hee University. iv) The reference analysis results identify eight extensively researched topics from the most cited papers, and the keyword burst analysis results present an emerging trend. This study identifies the effect and development of technology in tourism research. Our findings provide implications for researchers about the current research focus of technology and the future research trend of technology in the tourism field.
