  • Since 2019, research on microplastics has been actively conducted around the world, so analyzing the differences between domestic and foreign microplastics research can be a milestone in establishing the direction of domestic research. In this study, microplastic papers from KCI and WoS were extracted and the differences between domestic and foreign studies were analyzed using a network analysis methodology based on big data such as author keyword co-occurrence word analysis, thesis co-citation analysis, and author co-citation analysis. As a result of the analysis, the analysis of the research topic confirmed that studies that could affect the human body and the treatment of microplastics in daily life were additionally needed in Korea. In the analysis of the depth of thesis citation that examines the quality of research, it was found that Korea was still insufficient at 2.25 overseas and 1.39 in Korea. In the analysis of the composition of the joint research front, where various researchers participate and share information, 3 out of 22 clusters in Korea are Star type. In the case of overseas, all 19 clusters have a mesh structure, so it was confirmed that information flow and sharing were insufficient in specific research fields in Korea. These research results confirmed the need to expand the research topic of microplastics, improve the quality of research, and improve the research promotion system in which various researchers participate. In addition, if the automation program is developed based on topic modeling, it will be possible to build a system capable of real-time analysis.

  • To have global competitiveness in newly growing industry, good quality R&D's in convergence technology arerequired. Korean government also started to emphasize the importance of convergence technology as a new engine of growth for the future development. Since 2008, worldwide energy crisis and concerns on low carbon green growth made people focus on the convergence between information technology (IT) and energy technology (ET). However, the R&D performance comparison among the convergence technologies is not well explored so far. Therefore, this study uses Korea's patent citation database to measure the R&D performance of convergence technologies. We adopt technology development cycle, technology spillover analysis, and technology diffusion analysis to see the knowledge flow from R&D industry to others. We find that IT_ET convergence technology generally shows higher R&D performance than other convergence technologies. Contrary to public belief, convergence R&D by big companies has relatively low performance especially measures in technology spillover and technology diffusion. This implies that they might concentrate on delicate Fuel Cell Energy/Environment Technology (FEIT) or Nano Environment/Energy Information Technology (NEIT) rather than general energy information technologies. We also find that Korea's chemical industry may play a crucial role for the growth of other convergence technologies.

  • There are some limitations in the existing bibliometric methods to satisfy the various requests of the interest parties including researchers, managers, policy makers to identify 1) which research group or researcher is the key player, and the overall trends of the particular technological sub-fields, 2) which research groups, institutions or countries mainly use their research outputs, 3) what are the spin-offs from research outputs to some scientific and technological fields, 4) in which levels they are when comparing their quantitative and qualitative research outputs to those of other competitive institutions. It is essential to develop new informetric indicators and methodologies in order to satisfy stakeholder's various demands and to strengthen qualitative analysis in measuring research performance. This study suggested informetric indicators such as article quality index, citation impact index, international cooperation index, excellent article production index and methodologies including citation analysis, text mining.

  • The KJC and KCI services operated by the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) need to refer to the global citation index database to set the service direction that researchers want and develop new functions. Therefore, in this study, the usability of Korea's KJC and KCI web databases was evaluated. In addition, FGI verification was performed for a group of experts on KJC and KCI improvement measures derived by academic information experts. The evaluation committee consisted of the researcher group, the society related group, the publisher (academic information distribution organization) group, and the policy-making organization group. A total of 16 experts performed usability evaluation and service improvement proposals for KJC and KCI services. As a result of usability evaluation of KJC and KCI web database using SUS measurement tool, KJC service was evaluated as 73.44, and KCI service was evaluated as good as 64.38. KJC improvement proposals were evaluated positively with 4 points or more for all improvement items, and KCI improvement proposals were positively evaluated with 3.5 points or more for all improvement items. Overall, KJC and KCI error improvements were evaluated with a score of 4 or more, showing strong affirmations. In the future, it is hoped that the improvement proposals and improvements proposed in this study will be applied to the development of KJC and KCI services, so that more quality services will be used by domestic researchers.

  • Effective assessment of faculty research performance should involve considerations of both quality and quantity of faculty research. This study analyzed methods for evaluating faculty research output by comparing the rankings of Library and Information Science(LIS) faculty by publication counts, citation counts, and research performance assessment guidelines employed by Korean universities. The study results indicated that faculty rankings based on publication counts to be significantly different from those based on citation counts. Additionally, faculty rankings measured by university guidelines showed bigger correlations with rankings based on publication counts than rankings by citation counts, while differences in universities guidelines did not significantly affect the faculty rankings. The study findings suggest the need for bibliometric indicators that reflect the quality as well as the quantity of research output.

  • As corporate management enters the era of informatization or knowledge management, the level of patent quality, which is the fruit of R&D and technical innovation, is an important element of corporate competitiveness in this age of unbridled competition. This study analyzes the relevance between R&D stocks and 6 types of knowledge stock (patent quality) and corporate market values in utilization of related research models. With Tobin Q model utilized, 108,851 U.S. patents (observed value per year: 2,795) registered by 402 domestic enterprises were analyzed. As the Hall model was analyzed, it turned out that the R&D stock/asset, claim stock/patent stock, and citation stock/patent stock had positive effect on corporate market values. The inventor stock/patent stock also show positive effect on corporate market values.

  • Objectives: This study aimed to make preliminary data through the bibliometric analysis of journals registered by national research foundations of Korea for the improvement of traditional Korean medical (TKM) journals. Methods: We collected 4,396 articles from the OASIS database, which is composed of articles published by TKM societies and institutes. First, we analyzed the 'authors by year', 'average authors per article', 'articles by institute' and 'authors by institute' to get the author-related conditions. Second, we analyzed the 'reference type', 'cited times', 'IF with self citation' and 'IF without self citation' to get the citation condition. Results: First, we found that the journal order of total authors was KAOOMP (2362), KOMS (1189), and KAMS (967), and of average authors per article was KAMS (5.29), KOIMS (5.25), and KOMS (4.75). Second, we learned that the journal order of occupied article ratio by high rank institutes was SCMS (92.4%), MAS (90.03%), and KOPS (87.22%) and of occupied author ratio by high rank institutes was KOPMS (96.55%), MAS (95.19%), and SCMS (93.85%). Third, we analyzed the most highly cited reference type by journals and we found that OMCS was books, SCMS was oriental medical journals and the other 10 journals were not oriental medical journals. Finally, we observed that the journal order of self citation ratio was SCMS (16.79%), KMAS (11.77%), and OOGS (11.67%) and also that the IF order was KAMS (0.675), OOGS (0.546), and KAOH (0.430). Conclusions: Through this study we found that TKM research leans too much toward on oriental medical universities, so we insist that TKM R&D institutes must be expanded. We also found that the self citation ratio was high in TKM journals, so the ratio must be decreased to improve the quality of the TKM journals.

  • KISTI-ACOMS ver. 2.0 has been distributed to more than 340 academic societies and used by more than 130 academic societies for 4 years since 2005 and still is desired for use by lots of other academic societies. But contrary to the desire and requests for system upgrades of academic societies, ACOMS has not been improved for last 3 years and some academic societies began to use domestic or foreign similar pay online peer review systems. In this paper, a new integrated portal service system is suggested in order to attempt national production cost-saving and quality improvement of academic information by creating and collecting high quality scientific and technologic academic information inexpensively. We come up with methodology of integration and utilization of a personal academic activity portal system interoperable with other services of KISTI, an open citation reference database automatically constructed by authors' activity and a journal evaluation system based on impact factor.

  • The more importance of international collaboration has increased, the more studies on statues of international collaboration are increasing. However, few studies have attempted to identify the international collaboration. This article aims at a multidirectional characterization of the international collaboration in the field of Computer Science by analysis of articles published in the SCOPUS database. We applied Probabilistic Affinity Index(PAI) and Indicator of Collaboration Strength(ICS) for measuring the intensity of scientific collaboration among countries, and index of Incremental Citation Impact(ICI) for measuring the quality of international collaboration. These analyses identify the trends of international collaboration in the field of Computer Science and it's effect by nation.
