선체 표면 거칠기가 경계층 변화에 미치는 영향 (On the Variation of the Boundary Layer as Hull Surface Roughness)

  • 해양의 다양한 환경에 노출된 선체 표면의 거칠기를 일반화 하여 모델 실험을 PIV기법을 적용하여 회류수조에서 수행하였다. 모델의 유동방향 표면 거칠기의 폭에 기초하여 본 연구에 적용된 레이놀즈수 Re=1.0$\times$103에서 유동가시화, 시간평균 속도장 및 와도장을 상호 평가를 통하여 유동특성을 조사하였다. 와의 생성과 소멸 메커니즘을 통해 와류의 중심은 표면 거칠기 높이의 0.5H로 나타났다. 또한 거칠기 계수가 증가함에 따라 와의 크기와 비례하고, 와의 생성위치도 상부와 전방으로 이동하였다.

  • Due to the global warming, the need to secure the alternative resources has become more important worldwide. Having very strong current on the west coast with up to 10 m tidal range, there are many suitable sites for the application of TCP(Tidal current power) in Korea. Not only from the current produced from the high tidal range, but also it can be widely applied to the offshore jetties and piers. The VAT(Vertical axis turbine) system could be very effective tidal device to extract the energies from the attacking flow to the structures. For the relatively slow current speed, the VAT system could be more effective application than HAT(Horizontal axis turbine) device. The performance of VAT can be evaluated by various parameters including number of blades, shape, sectional size, diameters and etc. The paper introduces the multi-layer vertical axis tidal current power system with savonius turbine. The turbine was designed with consideration of optimal blade numbers and the performance was simulated by CFD analysis.

문풀 내 압력 변동에 대한 POD 분석 (Proper Orthogonal Decomposition of Pressure Fluctuations in Moonpool)

  • Experiments of circulating water channel and two dimensional numerical simulations were performed to investigate the fluctuating characteristics of pressure in moonpool. Based on the quasi-two dimensional characteristics of pressure fluctuations disclosed by the spatial cross-correlations, the numerical results showed qualitatively good agreement with experimental data. Proper orthogonal decomposition was employed to the spatial distributions of pressure fluctuations in order to find the first and second modes of fluctuations. The first mode of pressure fluctuations showed that the fluctuating characteristics of pressure were related to the behaviors of vortical structures. The velocity fluctuations were conditionally averaged to make clear that the coherent structures were responsible for the pressure fluctuations in moonpool.

분극저항에 의한 온라인 부식속도 측정 시스템에 관한 연구 (Study on an On-line Measurement System of Corrosion Rate by Linear Polarization Resistance)

  • The linear polarization resistance method is one of the widely used techniques for the corrosion rate monitoring in the water circulating systems of plants. The measurement is simple and rapid, so that a continuous on-line monitoring is possible without any shutdown of plants. A 2-electrode polarization corrosion rate measurement system was installed in a laboratory using a data acquisition board and PC. The signal processing parameters were optimized for the accurate corrosion rate measurement, and the polarization resistance was compensated with the solution resistance measured by the high frequency sine wave signal of an output channel. The precision of corrosion rate data was greatly improved by removing the initial noise signals on measuring the polarization resistance.

  • As considerable interests in noise emission from a ship have been increased, the need for localization of noise sources of the marine propeller generating cavitation and singing noise is looming large. In many practical cases, cavitation and singing noise occur on a particular position of the certain blade of the propeller. It is so important to know the position of noise source correctly in order to eliminate or suppress unwanted noise. In this study, we develop "noise source localization technology" using TDOA method. Experimental measurements carried out at the circulating water channel and towing tank show that noise source can be clearly identified and localized using TDOA method.

트렌치내에서 복합 해저 관로 안정성의 수치해석과 실험해석 비교 (Comparison of Numerical and Experimental Stability of Dual Subsea Pipeline in Trench)

  • There are advantages in the installation of dual subsea pipelines over two separate single lines. In many case it can reduce the cost for trench, back-filling and installation. However the installation of dual pipelines often requires technical challenges. Dual Pipelines should be placed to be stable to external loading not only during the installation but also in the design life. Dual pipelines in trench can reduce the influence of external forces. To investigate applied forces as slope changes, number of experiments are conducted with PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) in a circulating water channel. Numerical approaches are also made to compare with experimental results. The velocity fields around dual pipelines in trench are investigated and analysed. Comparison of both results show similar pattern of flow around dual pipelines. it is proved that the trench slope affects the pipeline stability significantly. The results can be applied in the stability design of dual pipelines in trench section. The complex flow patterns can be referenced effectively linked in the understanding of fluid around circular bodies in trench.

  • This paper reports the hull form development and resistance performance of a 5-ton-class catamaran-type coastal fishing boat. The weight estimation and preliminary design were basically extracted from existing coastal fishing vessels. In addition, the resistance performance was investigated using a model test in a high-speed circulating water channel and was analyzed in comparison to an existing catamaran fishing vessel. As a result, the modified hull achieved an approximately 30% reduction in resistance compared to the previous hull. The stability or boarding sensitivity of the modified hull form was more stable or comfortable than the original hull form based on a trim and sinkage comparison between the two boats.

  • Manta형 무인잠수정(MUUTV)을 대상으로 회류수조에서의 모형실험을 통해 동일한 동체 모형에 대해 형상이 서로 다른 부가물을 부착했을 때의 동유체력 특성을 실험적으로 검토하였으며, 동유체력 측정 결과를 이론계산치와 비교하였다. 아울러 이를 바탕으로 운동안정성을 검토하여 최적의 부가물 형상 결정의 이론적 근거를 확립하였다.

  • Many artificial steel reefs are being built in Japan, however, in Korea, only few steel reefs were manufactured by POSCO, recently. In order to develop their novel types suitable for marine environments near the Korean Peninsula, it is very important to carry out model tests in the initial design stage. In the Ocean Engineering Wide Tank($L{\times}B{\times}D=30{\times}20{\times}2.5m$) and the Circulating Water Channel of the University of Ulsan, Korea, fluid drag forces acting on models of steel reefs with different sizes are measured in waves and currents. Also numerical predictions based on the Wavier-Stokes equation are made and compared with experimental results.

다공성 방풍벽의 다공도가 펜스후류 속도장에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (Effect of fence porosity on the velocity field of wake flow past porous wind fences)

  • Velocity fields of near turbulent was behind a porous wind fence were measured using the 2-frame PTV method in a circulating water channel. The fences used in this study had different geometric porosity(.epsilon.) of 0, 20, 40 and 65%. The fence was embedded in a thin laminar boundary layer, i.e., .delta./H ~ = 0.1. Reynolds number based on the fence height H and free stream velocity(U$\_$o/) was about 8,400. As a result, a recirculating flow region was formed behind the fence for the .epsilon.=0% and 20% wind fence. For the wind fences having porosity larger than .epsilon.=40%, it was difficult to see separation bubbles behind the fence. The .epsilon.=20% porous fence reveals the maximum velocity reduction, however, the turbulent intensity and Reynolds shear stress are much greater than those of .epsilon.=40% fence. Among the wind fence tested in this study, the porous wind fence of .epsilon.=40% porosity is the most effective for abating wind erosion.
