크롬(VI)-헤테로고리 착물(2,2'-Bipyridinium Dichromate)에 의한 치환 벤질 알코올류의 산화반응에 대한 속도론적 연구 (Kinetic Study on the Oxidation Reaction of Substituted Benzyl Alcohols by Cr(VI)-Heterocyclic Complex (2,2'-Bipyridinium Dichromate))

  • 크롬(VI)-헤테로고리 착물(2,2'-bipyridinium dichromate)를 합성하여, 적외선분광광도법(IR), 유도결합 플라즈마(ICP) 등으로 구조를 확인하였다. 여러 가지 용매 하에서 2,2'-bipyridinium dichromate를 이용하여 벤질 알코올의 산화반응을 측정한 결과 유전상수(${\epsilon}$) 값이 큰 용매 순서인 시클로헥센 < 클로로포름 < 아세톤 < N,N-디메틸포름아미드 용매 하에서 높은 산화반응성을 보였다. 산 촉매($H_2SO_4$)를 이용한 DMF 용매 하에서 2,2'-bipyridinium dichromate는 벤질 알코올과 그의 유도체들($p-OCH_3$, $m-CH_3$, H, $m-OCH_3$, m-Cl, $m-NO_2$)을 효과적으로 산화시켰다. 그리고 전자받개 그룹들은 반응 속도가 감소한 반면에 전자주개 치환체들은 반응속도를 증가시켰다. 또한 Hammett 반응상수$({\rho})$ 값은 -0.66 (303 K)이였다. 그러므로 본 실험에서 알코올의 산화반응 과정은 속도결정단계에서 수소화 전이가 일어나는 메카니즘임을 알 수 있었다.

  • Ni-W alloy deposit is one of the best alternatives to hard chromium plating because of its good mechanical properties (high hardness, high strength, and good wear resistance). Ni-W alloy is deposited from weakly acidic or alkaline electrolytic bath with nickel sulfate, sodium tungstate or APT, and some kinds of organic hydroxy-acid complex and ammonia salts. W content of the deposit can be changed from 0 to 5Owt% and the coating with high W content is more attracted. But, meanwhile, the deposited layers are always found high internal stress, which cause them to become brittle and to bond insufficiently with the substrate. On the second hand, as the W content is incresed, the current efficiency reduced, which results in large quantities of hydrogen evolution and then produces bubbles on surface and pitting appearance In this paper, the influence of some additives on Ni-W alloy electroplating was investigated by means of compositional analysis and SEM. The initial results showed that 2-butyne-1,4-diol was the best brightener for Ni-W plating process. It could brighten and level deposit, but decreased the cathodic current efficiency. Its optimum concentration range is from O.lgjL to 0.5gjL. Besides, three kinds of additives including 2-butyne-1,4-diol were examined with Dagguchi method.

Synthesis and Cation Binding Properties of Triester Calix[4]arenes and Calix[4]quinones

  • The complexes M(CO)4-1,2-(PPh2)2-1,2-C2B10H10 (M=Cr 2a, Mo 2b, W 2c) have been prepared in good yields from readily available bis-diphenylphosphino-o-carboranyl ligand, closo-1,2-(PPh2)2-1,2-C2B10H10 (1), by direct reaction with Group Ⅵ metal carbonyls. The infrared spectra of the complexes indicate that there is an octahedral disposition of chelate bis-diphenylphosphino-o-carboranyl ligand around the metal atom. The crystal structure of 2a was determined by X-ray diffraction. Complex 2a crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n with cell parameters a = 12.2360(7), b = 17.156(1), c = 16.2040(6) Å, V = 3354.1(3) Å3, and Z =4. Of the reflections measured a total of 2514 unique reflections with F2 > 3σ(F2) was used during subsequent structure refinement. Refinement converged to R1 = 0.066 and R2 = 0.071. Structural studies showed that the chromium atom had a slightly distorted pseudo-octahedral configuration about the metal center with two phosphine groups of o-carborane occupying the equatorial plane cis-orientation to each other. These metal carbonyl complexes are rapidly converted to the corresponding metal carbene complexes, [(CO)3M=C(OCH3)(CH3)]-1,2-(PPh2)2-1,2-C2B10H10 (M= Cr 3a, Mo 3b, W 3c), via alkylation with methyllithium followed by O-methylation with CF3SO3CH3.

토양 특성이 CCA 처리재로부터 방부제 성분의 용탈에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Soil Properties on Leaching of Preservative Components from CCA-treated Wood)

  • 본 연구는 지접부용 처리목재의 지하부에서 발생하는 방부제 유효성분의 용탈에 관한 연구로 토양의 물리 및 화학적 특성이 방부제 유효성분의 용탈에 미치는 영향을 파악하기 위하여 수행하였다. CCA 처리 라디에타소나무 시편을 국내의 대표적인 네 가지 토양(미사질양토, 양토, 사질양토, 사토)에 매립하여 12주간의 용탈기간 동안 토양이 항상 물로 포화된 상태가 유지되도록 토양 용탈시험을 실시하였으며, 토양 용탈시험 결과와 비교할 목적으로 물 용탈시험을 병행하여 실시하였다. 토양 종류에 따른 처리목채로부터 방부제 유효성분의 용탈을 차이가 관찰되었으나 토양 용탈은 물 용탈보다 유효성분의 용탈율이 낮았다. CCA 처리목재로부터 크롬, 구리, 비소 용탈율은 각각 사질양토, 양토, 사토에서 가장 높았으며, 모든 유효성분의 용탈율이 미사질양토에서 가장 낮았다. 토양의 물리 및 화학적 특성과 용탈율 간의 관계를 살펴본 결과, 방부제 유효성분의 용탈율이 토양 특성에 의해 매우 상이하게 영향을 받음을 알 수 있었다. CCA 처리목재로부터 구리 용탈은 토양내 치환성 마그네슘 및 염기총량의 영향을 받았다. CCA 처리목재로부터 크롬 용탈은 토양내 치환성 마그네슘($Mg^{2+}$) 함량의 영향을 받았으며, 비소 용탈은 토양내 치환성 칼륨($K^+$), 중금속인 니켈(Ni), 망간(Mn), 철(Fe), 크롬(Cr), 구리(Cu) 함량의 영향을 받았다. 본 연구 결과와 기존 연구 결과들 간에, 그리고 기존 연구결과들 간에도 토양 특성과 방부제 유효성분 용탈율 간의 관계가 서로 상이하게 보고되고 있다. 따라서 앞으로 이에 대한 보다 심도 있는 연구가 필요하리라 판단된다. 또한 실험실 규모의 용탈시험을 통해 얻은 본 연구의 결과를 입증하기 위해서 수분 조건과 토양 미생물의 종류와 분포가 상이한 실제 야외 지접부 환경에서의 연구가 반드시 필요하다.

도금폐수처리를 위한 입상활성탄 유동 메디아 적용 유동상 멤브레인 여과기술의 적용가능성 평가에 관한 연구 (Study on Feasibility of Fluidized Bed Membrane Reactor with Granular Activated Carbon Particles as Fluidized Media to Treat Metal-plating Wastewater)

  • 실 산성 도금폐수를 입상활성탄(GAC)이 유동메디아로 첨가된 유동상 멤브레인 반응기를 이용하여 처리하였다. GAC 유동조건에서 적용 투과플럭스에 대해 시간에 따른 흡입압의 증가는 관찰되지 않았다. 폐수의 중성 pH에서 파울링 속도는 산성 조건에 비해 GAC 유동조건에서 크게 감소하였다. 해당 폐수의 용액 pH 증가는 입자크기의 증가를 가져왔고 이는 멤브레인 표면에서 상대적으로 성긴 구조의 케이크층 형성을 야기시켰다. 유동상 멤브레인 반응기에서 GAC 유동 하에 95%이상의 COD 제거율이 관찰되었으며 총부유물질은 거의 완벽하게 제거되었다. 실 도금폐수의 pH에서, 유동상 멤브레인 반응기의 구리 및 크롬의 제거는 거의 관찰 되지 않았다. 그러나 pH를 중성으로 증가 시켰을 시 구리와 크롬의 제거율은 각각 99%와 94%까지 증가를 하였다. 적용해 준 pH에 상관 없이, 시안의 경우 95% 이상의 제거율을 달성하였다. 이는 유기물과 시안 착물 형성으로 인해 유동상 멤브레인 반응기 내 GAC의 강한 흡착으로 제거된 것으로 사료된다.

페라이트 촉매의 Cr 치환효과와 에틸벤젠의 탈수소반응 (The Effects of Cr-Substitution in Ferrite Catalysts and the Catalytic Dehydrogenation of Ethylbenzene)

  • 몇 종류의 산화물을 혼합하여 그 장점들이 촉매의 특성으로 나타나도록 하는 복합산화물 촉매의 한 종류로서 스피넬 구조를 이루는 Mg- 및 Zn-페라이트를 촉매로 선정하여 Cr 치환에 따른 물성을 분석하고, 에틸벤젠의 탈수소 반응에 대하여 연구하였다. 촉매의 특성 분석에는 XRD, BET, TG/DTA, ESCA, TEM, TPD등의 분석법을 사용하였다. 페라이트 촉매에 대한 Cr 치환 효과를 검토하기 위하여 물성을 종합적으로 분석한 결과, 표면으로의 확산이 용이한 Cr 은 촉매의 표면적 증가와 구조의 안정성에 기여하는 구조적인 조촉매로서 작용하였다. 촉매의 반응성 실험에 있어서는 Cr의 치환에 따른 활성변화를 검토하였는데, $MgCr_xFe_{2-x}O_4$ 촉매에서 Cr 치환량이 증가할수록 산소의 유동성이 작아져 완전산화반응이 억제되고 스티렌으로의 선택도가 증가하였다.

Influence of Citric Acid on the Metal Release of Stainless Steels

  • Knowledge of how metal releases from the stainless steels used in food processing applications and cooking utensils is essential within the framework of human health risk assessment. A new European standard test protocol for testing metal release in food contact materials made from metals and alloys has recently been published by the Council of Europe. The major difference from earlier test protocols is the use of citric acid as the worst-case food simulant. The objectives of this study were to assess the effect of citric acid at acidic, neutral, and alkaline solution pH on the extent of metal release for stainless steel grades AISI 304 and 316, commonly used as food contact materials. Both grades released lower amounts of metals than the specific release limits when they were tested according to test guidelines. The released amounts of metals were assessed by means of graphite furnace atomic absorption spectroscopy, and changes in the outermost surface composition were determined using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. The results demonstrate that both the pH and the complexation capacity of the solutions affected the extent of metal release from stainless steel and are discussed from a mechanistic perspective. The outermost surface oxide was significantly enriched in chromium upon exposure to citric acid, indicating rapid passivation by the acid. This study elucidates the effect of several possible mechanisms, including complex ion- and ligand-induced metal release, that govern the process of metal release from stainless steel under passive conditions in solutions that contain citric acid.

12% Cr 로터강의 강도 개선에 관한 연구 (Study on the Improvement of Strength for 12% Chromium Steel Rotor)

  • To check technical improvement in the soundness and strength of 12% Cr steel rotor, a 25 tons of rotor with 65 tons of ingot was made in real size and was cut to pieces to take test samples, and the various mechanical tests such as impact, tensile, creep, and fatigue were carried out. The strengths are compared with those of 1% Cr-Mo-V rotor of same size. Microstructures of the samples are examined and reviewed. The results can be summarized as follows. 1) Fracture appearance transition temperatures are 80.deg. C at the center part and 60.deg. C near surface of 12% Cr rotor, and 8.deg. C near surface of 1% Cr-Mo-V rotor. 2) Comparative rapid softening occurs at higher temperatures above 600.deg. C for 12% Cr steel and 550.deg. C for 1% Cr-Mo-V steel in tension tests. 3) Fatigue crack propagation rate of 12% Cr steel is almost same as that of 1% Cr-Mo-V steel at the same corresponding surface part of the rotors. The crack growth rate of center part of 12% Cr rotor is faster than near surface part of the rotor, and the crack growth rate at the load condition of R=0.04 is slower than that of the load condition of R=0.5 for both 12% Cr steel and 1% Cr-Mo-V steel. 4) Crack growth rate of radial direction near surface of 12% Cr rotor is faster than that of transverse direction at the same part because of the difference in residual stresses. 5) Both creep and fatigue strengths of 12% Cr steel are superior to those of 1% Cr-Mo-V steel and the difference is thought the effect of climb and glide controlled creep by solid solution of alloying elements and dispersion of carbides.

Assessment of Selected Heavy Metal Concentrations in Agricultural Soils around Industrial Complexes in Southwestern Areas of Korea

  • Agricultural soils near or around industrial complexes can contain a certain amount of heavy metals that readily enter the food chain and negatively affect human health. Therefore, we conducted the study to investigate the distribution of selected heavy metals, including arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), lead (Pb), mercury (Hg), and zinc (Zn), in farm-land soils around fifteen industrial complexes in the southwestern provinces, Korea. The concentrations of heavy metals in the soil samples were determined by the pseudo-total aqua regia (3 HCl : $1HNO_3$) digestion procedure. The heavy metal concentrations in most soils examined did not exceed the levels of Soil Contamination Warning Standard (SCWS) for agricultural lands (Region 1) presented in Soil Environment Conservation Law (SECL) established by Ministry of Environment (MOE), Korea. However, only one sampling site showed higher As amount ($27.1mg\;kg^{-1}$) than the SCWS level of As ($25mg\;kg^{-1}$). Pollution index (PI) for heavy metals did not exceed 1.0. The PI values were significantly positively correlated (p < 0.01) with the heavy metal concentrations. In particular, the values of correlation coefficient between the Cd and Pb concentrations and the PI values were higher than those estimated from other combinations, and thus the amounts of Cd and Pb in the agricultural soils highly affected the PI values for the heavy metals.
