For the light guide plate of the TFT-LCD, there have been increasing demands for higher brightness, thin and light-weight design, and lower power consumption. To meet these demands, a micro-prism-type frontlight that integrates a prismatic sheet and a light-guiding plate has been developed. In this paper, the influences of processing conditions on the brightness were studied lot the injection molding of the light guide plate. Based on the experiment with an actual mold, the design of experiments and the neural network theory were used lot choosing the optimal processing parameters to increase the brightness and the uniformity. The verification experiment also showed that the brightness and the uniformity were increased dramatically with the chosen processing conditions.
In this paper, the generalized SOR-like methods are presented for solving the saddle point problems. Based on the SOR-like methods, we introduce the uncertain parameters and the preconditioned matrixes in the splitting form of the coefficient matrix. The necessary and sufficient conditions for guaranteeing its convergence are derived by giving the restrictions imposed on the parameters. Finally, numerical experiments show that this methods are more effective by choosing the proper values of parameters.
Longitudinal vibration of an axially moving material is investigated by using the assumed modes method. To circumvent a difficulty in choosing the comparison functions which satisfy the boundary conditions, the assumed modes method is adopted by which equations of motion are discretized. Based on the discretized equations, the complex eigenvalue problem is solved and then the effects of the translating velocity on the natural frequencies and modes are analyzed.
The purpose of this study was to investigate Korean college students' housing values and housing expectations as well as considerations for housing in their 20s and to explore influences on housing values and expectations. Items related to four housing functions were developed in conjunction with Maslow's hierarchy of human needs to measure housing values. An on-site questionnaire survey was administered to students of a university-A located in Chungbuk province between May 28, 2012, and June 17, 2012. Among the total 476 responses, 465 responses from Korean students were used for further data analyses. The findings are as follows: (1) Among housing functions, those related to shelter functions were perceived as most important followed by function as a place for self-esteem. (2) More than 70 percent of the respondents expected to rent a housing unit in their 20s and more than half of the respondents expected non-traditional and relatively affordable compact size structure types such as studio, Officetel or Gosiwon. (3) Price, location and transportation were found to be the most important considerations when choosing housing in their 20s. (4) Convenience in use of public transportation and commute time were found to be the most important in location choice, and maintenance conditions and security systems were the most important for building choice. (5) Female respondents tended to consider personal safety, security systems, neighborhood facilities, and distance from family more important than male respondents when choosing housing, while male respondents considered parking space more important than females.
The purpose of this study is to provide a practical guide for the actual conditions and the preference of student housing in a regional university. The data are collected through questionnaire surveys from the students of a regional university. 265 samples are collected, and are analyzed by using SPSS-PC. The results are as follows: 1) The actual conditions of student housing Most residents of student housing(76.3%) come from the Capital region. Most of student housing are located at 30 minute distance from the school. Most of house style are Offistel as one room style. Most of housing size are within 10 minute distance from the school. Most of house style are Offistel as one room style. Most of housing size are within 10py, and two people reside in one unit. The average hours of staying at the student housing are over 10 hours. The most inconvenient factor is the lack of soundproofing in the current student housing. 2) The preference of student housing The most preferred location is in the walking distance from the school, and the apartment is the most preferred housing style. The most preferred installation of inside is internet connection. When choosing student housing, students prefer the distance from the school as the most important factor. Most female students reside with a roommate within 10 py of housing size, cook for themselves, and consider rent and maintenance fee as the decision factors in choosing housing. The most preferred style of house is apartment, and they prefer to install basic furniture and kitchen system inside of housing. As students go up to higher grade, they prefer the apartment, and prefer to cook for themselves. More fresh men reside with a roommate compared to other grades. They prefer Offistel with meals service at a walking distance from the school.
This study conducted a survey of residents living in senior housing in the outskirts of Tokyo metropolitan area where the demand for senior housing is rising. The study examined their motives for moving into senior housing, criteria for housing selection, and their degree of satisfaction with living in senior housing. The analysis results are as follows. First, the majority of respondents gave reasons for moving into senior housing such as wanting to live with more comfort and freedom and not wanting to live with their spouse any longer. Second, in choosing conditions their senior housing, the respondents put priority on the credibility of a management company, and they also valued easy accessibility to the place. In addition, they wanted the environment to be suitable for a stroll. Third, as for the degree of satisfaction with the living facilities, the respondents expressed dissatisfaction with kitchen and storage areas most frequently. This suggests that it is necessary to consider the physical characteristics of elderly people when planning senior housing by securing kitchen facilities that support independent living and provide more storage space. Fourth, in terms of the level of satisfaction with residential services, the respondents were quite content with their consulting services, response to their complaints, and the surrounding environment. However, they were less satisfied with events organized by the management company, or the in-house medical service.
A new collision avoidance algorithm is presented for two mobile robots in narrow corridor environments. When two robots meet each other in a narrow corridor, one should yield the way to the other robot. To solve the problem arising in this situation, they exchange their path to get information about crossing-points to check avoidance conditions, which are necessary for choosing the robot to yield. The conditions are summarized as follows. 1) If one robot blocks the path to the closest crossing-point in front of the other robot. 2) If the closest crossing-point of each robot is the same point. 3) Which robot is closer to the closest crossing-point. In this paper, we propose a path planning algorithm for the robot which yield the way. Simulation results are presented to verify the feasibility of the proposed collision avoidance algorithm.
In this study we use inexact Newton-like methods to find solutions of nonlinear operator equations on Banach spaces with a convergence structure. Our technique involves the introduction of a generalized norm as an operator from a linear space into a par-tially ordered Banach space. In this way the metric properties of the examined problem can be analyzed more precisely. Moreover this approach allows us to derive from the same theorem on the one hand semi-local results of kantorovich-type and on the other hand 2global results based on monotonicity considerations. By imposing very general Lipschitz-like conditions on the operators involved on the other hand by choosing our operators appropriately we can find sharper error bounds on the distances involved than before. Furthermore we show that special cases of our results reduce to the corresponding ones already in the literature. Finally our results are used to solve integral equations that cannot be solved with existing methods.
Increased application of optical disks requires more improved dynamic stability of rotating disks. In this study, a new concept of controlling the processing conditions of injection molded disks was developed to improve vibration characteristics. The critical speed, which shows stiffness and dynamic stability of disk, is affected by the residual stress distribution; this varies as functions of distance from the gate and processing condition. The critical speed of disk was calculated with the initial stress taken into consideration, which was determined from injection molding simulation. Choosing melt temperature, mold temperature, filling speed and packing pressure as design parameters, critical speed is maximized with the method of response surface. It is shown that the stability of injection molded disk has been improved for the new condition obtained as a result of the study proposed.
